My building still hasn’t turned on the AC and it was 90° yesterday and today

I live in an apartment building and management still hasn’t turned on the AC, even though it was literally 90 degrees yesterday and today. My apartment has been unbearably hot, especially because I work from home and I’m on the top floor.

They keep saying it’s “not AC season yet,” but meanwhile it feels like a sauna inside. I know some older buildings switch between heat and AC seasonally, but at what point does this become unreasonable?

Has anyone dealt with this before? Did your building eventually do anything, or are we all just expected to suffer through random heat waves every spring? Is there anyone I can escalate to?

Kelsey’s rent situation

Am I the only one who finds it wild that Kelsey’s ex-boyfriend is still paying her rent and she’s in her 30s? 😭 Like obviously if he offered and they’re both fine with it, whatever… but I cannot imagine my ex funding my apartment post-breakup. Curious if people think this is normal rich-people behavior or a massive red flag/dependency situation.

Also how is she going to support herself? What has she been doing the past 10 years? I’m so curious

Broker says I can’t be in my own apartment during showings (nyc)

I’m not renewing my lease, so my broker has 60 days to show the apartment. I work from home and told her upfront that showings need to happen after work hours because I’m on calls all day.

Now she’s insisting I’m not allowed to be present during showings, even though nothing in the lease says that. I’m not trying to make things difficult, but I also don’t love the idea of strangers walking through my lived-in apartment while I’m forced to leave.

Is this normal/reasonable? Would you push back?

HELP… feel like im drowning

Recently bought my first home after years in a tiny apartment and I’m weirdly overwhelmed instead of excited… I feel like I suddenly need to know how to:

  1. furnish an entire house
  2. maintain things I’ve never had to think about before
  3. organize way more space
  4. prioritize what to buy first without blowing all my money
Every room feels empty and expensive lol. I keep making giant shopping lists and then spiraling. I’m even having issues deciding what my “vision” is for each room. I tried making a Pinterest board which kind of is helping but idk…For people who went from apartment living to a house:
  5. what do you wish you knew?
  6. what should I prioritize first?
  7. what immediate purchases were actually worth it vs unnecessary?
  8. any tips for not feeling totally overwhelmed?

Any practical advice, checklists, or “don’t make my mistake” stories would be greatly appreciated!!!
