How often does pretty privilege play a direct role in helping you?

This concept got me thinking because I know things like the “halo effect” are constant & can help someone out daily, but I’m curious how often direct pretty privilege plays a role in your life directly aside from the simple “getting treated better” dynamic of the halo effect.

I do think the halo effect helps me daily (like with my job), but in terms of getting free things or services, or where I receive direct aid “seemingly out of nowhere”, it’s probably only once a week (maybe every 2 weeks if I don’t go out much). And 80% of time, it’s a “random act of service” with a man paying for a coffee or a food item (so small) but occasionally it’s bigger (like seat upgrades on a flight or concert, but I don’t do those things often). Im sure if I worked a public facing role it would be more (I work an analytical job and i work remote) so I’m sure it also likely varies by lifestyle.

So it makes me want to hear everyone else’s experiences because I wonder how much it varies.

Should I keep going reddish brown, or try a new color?

Naturally have a medium to light brown hair.
I normally dye it in a similar shade range to my natural hair color, just more red/auburn (the difference can be seen in my roots vs my ends in this photo).

I’ve been doing a reddish-brown hair color for years, but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on 1) shade of red or 2) a new shade altogether!

I’ll likely post results once I make my decision 💕 thanks in advance!

Perplexed by each other, but we somehow have 8+ hour conversations.

I’m the Leo moon & rising.
Someone I met through friends is the Aqua Stellium (I’m female, he’s male).
We’re just friends, but sometimes I can’t tell if I bug him, perplex him, fascinate him, all of the above.
We have very differing perspectives but because we are both inquisitive and open minded, the convos never stop.
Curious if anything stands out.

Is anyone picking up on anything from my puppy?

He’s alive, I just want to see if he’s happy or if his needs are being met. He gets really anxious sometimes and I want to know how to help.

Spent 7 years struggling finding a red lip I actually like on me 🥰 I couldn’t be happier!

Maybe I subjectively like the red on me, but I’m very happy I finally found a formula that I don’t feel silly in! Because the idea of a bold lip has sounded much better in theory than in practice 🫠 maybe there’s ways to improve the shade (I’m open) but this is the happiest I’ve been with a combo! Also the rest of my face (aside from the eyeliner) is relatively natural, just a skin tint, so I feel it’s something I can wear even if I don’t want to put a ton of product on my face.

I’m fair with confusing undertones (I have pink undertones but freckles at the same time, which is kinda weird for makeup) and most reds have either completely drowned me out, made me look sick, been too dark, or they’ve been too matte (giving me crusty lips 😭 I need GLOSSY but long lasting).

I just wanted to celebrate & maybe this will inspire someone with a similar complexion/coloring to me.

Products:

-Essence 8 hour lip liner (this is optional, but I naturally have no cupids bow so I need it to prevent looking like a clown).
-Sephora lacquer shine lipstick in shade adrenaline shot (07)
-Mac lipglass high shine gloss in shade Ruby Woo

Is cute privilege a thing?

I don’t think I’m a bombshell ten type of pretty, and I don’t think I’m at a model level necessarily, but I’m on the “cute” spectrum (think neoteny/petite or a more “approachable” vibe). I see girls who mention pretty privilege & I always think they’re on a different league than me, so it makes me wonder if there’s a level of privilege for more cute, slightly above average but nothing special types of women (or maybe it’s just pretty privilege and I have dysmorphia, not sure).

I feel like people soften their voice & smile at me a lot, but when I hear them talk to others their voice COMPLETELY changes. When I’m in public (think airport, restaurant, bar, etc) people are usually very accommodating for me (think offering to help me lift my bag at an airport, getting upgrades at shows/flights/hotels, occasionally getting free food or drink if I’m friendly, people being more forgiving towards my incompetence at work, etc). I receive it from men and women, but oddly feel it’s 50/50.

I think I’m confused because I can’t tell if I’m being infantilized (if that’s the word for it) or if it’s a form of pretty privilege. I’m almost 30 but consistently am told people are shocked that I’m not younger (including by bartenders at bars or even at like the doctors/dentist). If you’re curious, the photo in my profile photo is me (just so you see what I mean when I say I look “youthful/dainty”).

So it begs the question: is “cute” privilege a thing? I feel like sometimes my treatment is due to attractiveness (but even then: sometimes I get worried they don’t see me as a “woman”), but more often than not, I don’t always get a “sexual” vibe from it. It just feels like people are nice because of a perceived innocence.

Want to know people’s thoughts on this.

Simple/Classic with some sparkle 🥹💕

I never knew a round shape would suit me, but my partner did well! I wanted something a bit more simple/classic with a bit of sparkle/character without being too flashy! 1 carat is perfect for me, and the pavé does the trick on the “sparkle/character” aspect 💕 I can’t stop staring at it!

For reference: 1 carat moissanite, white gold band, size 5.5 😊
