Insta360 on goldwing.. any thoughts , recommendations or warnings?

Hello everyone, I haven’t seen many installation guides of Insta 360 or other 360° cameras on Goldwing. Literally not so many tutorials or guidelines so far for at least 2018- models.

So I used my imagination, and ended up with this..

Obviously the clamps not the best ones for the job but they hold tight.. not sure about the stick as it feels quite ordinary and not so strong..

I have seen someone managed to replace it with carbon fiber monopod.. this can be my next purchase..

I also will tie the housing (K&F concept) and the stick separately to the rack with a 2mm dyneema or a parachute string..

I am wondering if this setup makes sense or it is awww…

What I learned from 2k ride in north of Greece in June..

Problems:
1- Engine heat: combined with road heat is like hell.. heat deflectors and proper shoes are necessary.. I wouldn’t recommend shorts..

2- general heat and sun exposure: must wear long sleeve and half turtle neck sweatshirts.. There’s was a short gap between my gloves and jacket and neck and helmet, those areas got sunburned. The only thing that make sense to me is to use a long sleeve sweatshirt made of thin textile with thumb hole.
Especially in the mornings the angle is low.. my neck got burned too. Turtle neck is a must..
for face must use spf 50+ cream

3- helmet: I use modular helmet hjc rpha 91 carbon. I don’t know how I would survive with full face and non carbon helmets.. opening the jaw part was relaxing but in long term it causes more weight imbalance and neck hurts from some point. The noise was quite high at speeds over 110km/h. And ventilation never felt enough.

4- navigation: double check the ai recommendations. It instantly took me through a very rough route without warning, where at the beginning of the mountain climb it says “dangerous turns ahead”.. and I’m not a pro goldwing rider and I had to act like one.. the road was to the livadiakis waterfall… very uneven and damaged road and last 5-6 km’s was loose gravel and i couldn’t risk it.. 220km ride for nothig, just nice mountain scenery.

5- License plate: it fell off while on the mountains. It’s always a risk when you ride through unpaved roads. Have to secure it and check it in short intervals.

6- toll road payment: once in a while you need to stop to pay the tolls.. instead of reaching out to the wallet I put my credit card under the sleeve like we do while taking the lift for skiing.. except those skiing jackets have dedicated pocket for that but if you’re not wearing proper jacket, which is thick most of the time and not useful in hot summers, you have to find another solution.
And I’ve never came across to those sweatshirts with long sleeves and dedicated credit card pockets and or thumb holes.

7- parking and wrong parking tickets: it’s quite confusing because every municipality have different habits. For example, in Thessaloniki you can park on dedicated bike areas as well as on the sidewalk. I’ve seen many parked on sidewalk without any problem.
With that experience I parked on a sidewalk in Alexandroupoli and got a ticket 😅.
But you must not park on the spaces for the cars.

8- I traveled solo and a 50L duffel bag with straps attached to the rear seat handles was very useful. Did not cause any aerodynamic problems. Had enough space for the goods and presents that I got from duty free and citles.
But if I would have a company, I believe that it would not be enough. So then I should I must not take my fishing rod and gear with me..

9- installing the light in the rear trunk was a good idea and helped me a lot in the dark..

Need Help for some exhaust heat problems GL1800 2023

Hi everyone, couple of days ago my machine tipped over while moving slowly in the traffic. my both feet were on the ground and because of a hole which was quite deep the tire ran over the edge, and I lost balance and tipped to the right side.
Only a few scratches on the engine protectors, and a very small indent on the back baggage door thanks to PPF coating.
But the problem is not the machine, how it happened. I don’t remember, but after I lifted the bike up, I noticed that I burnt my left ankle. That means the protectors on the exhaust are not fully effective and the bike is dangerous.
I accept that I was not wearing proper gear. This is my fault.. but I would never expect to burn my foot with this kind of simple accident.

Long story short, I think that I may need to cover the part of the exhaust, which is close to the foot rest. I noticed that there is a gap where there is no protection on it.

My plan is to use tape and cover it with a small black piece of exhaust shield. The color is matte black, I can find a proper piece of metal and I can even paint it if I cannot find the proper color.
I wonder if anyone had this kind of experience before and use any solution.

Thank you in advance for your comments and recommendations.

Hi everybody,
We plan a trip from south to north of Italy along the Adriatic.. will probably end up around alps..

What would be your choice of gloves for rainy conditions?

I think we need a wp gloves with thin insulation Considering that we have handle heaters. Am I right?

I came across leatt hydradri 5,5 and 7,5.. very flexible and comfortable..

Any other suggestions?
