BODYGUARD 2.0 CARRY COMP SLIDE KIT worth it?

Smith shows the carry comp slide kit (comp slide, ported barrel, RSA. For 350 msrp on their site.

Think it's worth it? I like my regular as is and 350 could go towards anything else to have a full additional gun or ammo etc.

The carry comp came out and was available like the week after I picked up my bg2.0 last year. So I've had a little FOMO

522 viper needing refresh

My dad has a 522viper from his father-in-law RIP that he wants to give to his other son (FIL grandson my half brother ) but it needs a nearly full refresh.

Is numrich pretty much the only place for parts?

Or trying to find a decent condition used full rifle/ parts on ebay? .

Looking to replace any remaining springs at minimum and maybe other worn parts as we dig into it.

Is a new bolt breech assembly necessary or the old one probably fine just refresh the extractor and firing pin etc.

Anyone been to Kelsey lately?

Might try for turkey tomorrow just to be safe.. but I bet it'll be swamped eh?

Or I could roll up to empire gun club... same drive for me

Sbr? Or not

I have a 10/22 carbon.

I'm sbr-ing all my ar lowers. Should I just include my 10/22 receiver while I'm at it JUST in case?

Form1 everything?

I have 10 or 11 "other/pistol" ar15 lowers stripped/unbuilt and a factory full built 16" ar15.

And 3 other unbuilt lowers already form1'd

Should I just FORM1 Everything on hand (including the factory 16") while it's easy so they can be whatever whenever I'm ready? And i can hot swap between everything as I build it or take it out for range day

Let's assume they are unlikely to ever travel interstate or be in a prohibited city/county

Px9 carry heart break re: sig magazines

I LOVE my px9 gen3 carry. Was intrigued that it accepts sig P228/229 magazines

Behold my sadness when I buy a used p229-1 and the 229-1 mags ( -1 is for the slightly different frame of the 229 vs 228) don't fit the px9 at all and the px9 mags almost fit the 229.

So if i get 228 or old 229 mags they may only fit the px9 and not my P229-1. Sig mags are so expensive usually But 228s are pretty affordable

First cans. First installs

-M&P15 SPORT3 with a polonium 30 on a rearden SPB

-ruger 10/22 carbon threaded with a LGS inhouse commisioned no name 22lr stainless

As long as i can trust the strike industries carbon alignment rods and my ability to thread the cans on i am in good shape for first shots tomorrow.

Anything I should look out for while shooting (besides obvious shooting/ammo issues) I've never used a suppressor before.

Recaps aren't from previous ep?

Am I just not paying attention or are the recaps before the startinhg credits not even from the previous episide at all? It feels like I missed some storyline all in recaps.

I'm gonna start at the beginning again to be sure. Other shows I've watched had recaps from multiple episodes back and I was just add confused. But it wasn't in the previous episodes!!

The "'90s" p229 came home! I didn't get exact mfr date yet but l looking more like late 2013 to mid-2015 (pic album linked)

I took a gamble on a used p229. With barely any pictures.

It looks used yes but in great condition yes? Giving a full cleaning but they it even needs it and a proper lubing then

Taking it to the range this weekend 124gr should be fine yeah? that's my usual range ammo

Used 1996 serial german frame NH slide. Hope i didn't get hosed. pics look great "very good" per seller ffl listing. One of my grails I've been hunting for a year- 6 bills

Used 1996ish serial- german frame NH slide . Hope i didn't get hosed pics lol great "very good".

One of my grails I've been hunting for a year.

600 before taxes and shipping felt good. I couldn't find a "no", my way of deciding to purchase anything big , a reason to say no.

Edit: The only number I found on the back was 55B0159##. Had the wrong result before. So I guess 55b is 2013-2017ish.. oh well. It wasn't the year i was looking for or worried about just a 229 at all. Newer is just fine!!

Usp 40s&w full size 1995 early serial. Used.. get it?

found a used usp full size 1995 early serial 05201. Used for 700 credits in seemingly get condition. . Worth getting if I'm gonna shoot it? I read its more collectible based on serial being so early in year 3 of release. But i shoot my guns.

Also read replacement parts might be trickier as they aren't the range as current USP?

Yes other stuff on my procure list at the dance ish price but I really want a 40 this year and it's mostly between a usp or beretta 96.

Opinion on / recommended reman ammo

Are there some brands of remanufactured ammo you trust for casual range day

9mm, .380acp, .45 acp, .223/5.56

I Havebeen sticking to new only for personal use but it'd be nice to have a large batch for group range days where some type1 failures isn't the end of the world just rack and try again.

Obviously safe new is probably best and I don't want bubba's pissin' hot

but like is US cartridge, freedom/lLAX or sportsmans select reman ok and safe?

In other words what's a good budget brand worth getting nowadays ?

It's my attorney uncle misinformed? (Hollowpoints in ccw)

My uncle [a licensed defense attorney in my state] was adamant that prosecutors will push hard on the use of hollowpoints (not regulated in my state) . And that I shouldn't carry defense rounds

Despite the usual points of damage/penetration mitigation He was trying to convince me that hollowpoints are stupid to carry in my ccw. Because "hollows are more dangerous"

No matter how many stats I gave about overpenetration of FMJ. Or responsible use of less penetration inducing ammunition and knowing what's beyond your target.

His point kept coming back to "so you were expecting to shoot someone? And had police bullets?"

Of course not but if i had to I don't want to accidentally hit someone behind them.

I know this is an ongoing discussion in many circles

Is he just jaded by defending alleged criminals as a career and unwilling to understand the science of firearms and advancement of ammunition technology since he started practicing law 20+ years ago.

We eventually just agreed to disagree since he had his professional view point and I'm just an informed gunowner and the circle argumentwas giving me a headache.

I didn't even get into the quagmire of using FMJ on purpose for penetration.

One Horse 7.5"? My First 300blk?

Looking at a complete upper from onehorse 7.5" 1:7 with m-lok handguard to pair with a (currently stripped)lower from PSA, Dirty Bird, or Anderson for a primarily suppressed build (polo30)

300 credits..

Okay choice , good budget starter or don't waste my time.?

Herters SA22

I missed wgw but Finally got it out of waiting jail.

A nearly identical looking gun to the first i shot as a child growing up.

Picked up this Herters SA22 22LR pre owned over the weekend. Came with a leather old western style hip belt holster. 140bones

LGS stated previous owner bought it new in the 60s and didn't care to keep it ( I didn't ask deeper)

Needs some cleaning at minimum. Probably some parts soon I'm sure. Which is gonna be a chore to find

Gnna look up the serial soon to see what else I can learn

Haven't shot it yet. Gonna do a good cleaning maybe nearly full disassembly to examine everything, first but in hand it functions smoothly (except I haven't yet pulled the trigger on a cocked hammer of course.

First cylinder full may be just fine or tell me parts I will need.

Tips on replacement grips? The classic "stag" isn't great even in good condition.

It's effectively a SAA clone I guess but smaller

u/False_Campaign4682 — 3 months ago

Herters SA22

Stock picture. But nearly identical to a used one I bought over the weekend for 140. . 22lr single action from herters in Germany modeled after the colt SAA

Stag grips are plastic.

LGS says the original owner bought it in the 60s claimed it was functional but we'll see i guess. Sub200 plinker? Why not

PRetreating cylinder chambers, faces

.. is there anything to preventatively pretreat the chambers and faces to make cleaning easier after sessions.

Or just spray every thing ASAP to soak and scrub.

Trying to keep my new gp100 as fresh as possible for as long as possible.

I know about extra attention after 38spl

My semis i can get away with every other session or longer for proper cleaning

But I've never had a revolver. Should I just get in the habit of a quick clp after every session?
