Fell from a parasol

Hi!

I'm at my mom's place to take care of the flowers on her balcony while she's away for a couple of days.

I needed some shade so I got the parasol, opened it, and this [cylinder] fell from it and cracked open.

The parasol was put away in a corner of the balcony, near the window. There are no upstairs neighbours and no balcony above hers either.

The smaller piece is about 1.3 cm in length, the bigger piece 2.6 to 3 cm, and it has a diameter of less than a centimeter.

It seems to be made of dried mud and it has bright orange goo inside. The imprint matches the fabric of the parasol.

I'm guessing it's been made by some bug while the parasol was closed in the corner but that's all I can guess about it.

Any idea? Thanks!

Found this in my beef broth box

It’s super slimy and stringy. Just grossed out bc of the shape and color. Otherwise, I’d assume it’s fat

Carbon and your garden

Seeing a lot of posts where people are mixing various materials in their garden soil and experiencing Nitrogen deficiency. I hope this chart is helpful in understanding why you need to add additional nitrogen to your soil in these circumstances. The higher the C:N ratio the more nitrogen you need to break down these materials. Happy gardening!
