How I got an RS studio (no lottery)

Just got a super under market RS studio w dishwasher, W/d in unit in a top five Brooklyn neighborhood in a very luxurious build home with great reviews around ~1000 under market value.

You won’t believe it, but I simply walked in and asked if they had any. It was literally the first building I ever tried and they had one they hadn’t even listed yet! They only showed it to me, I took it and they won’t even be showing it to anyone else.

Finishing off signing the lease tonight and happy as can be.

No broker, no finders fee, no lease takeover and no connections. Just a friendly attitude and a little audacity! Just wanted to post this as a little hopecore

Looking for a good jobs for my boyfriend’s skill set

(He doesn’t have Reddit)

My boyfriend is looking to pivot out of agency PR. He’s extremely creative, great with relationship building, confident, outgoing, funny and very intellectual (t10 school, history degree). What are some underrated career paths with someone with strong soft skills?

(26, male, NYC)

Apartment hell

Water damage and mold all up in here. No remediation team was hired, they out the one area and just patched/painted over others. They did remove the molded, soft, water damaged counter. I just don’t feel like they got it all. There’s a smell and they left - lot of moldy and water damaged areas and just painted some of them…

I need to GO. I can sublet, but I feel unethical doing so……I’m on a joint lease and the other roommates want to stay 😭😭

I don’t know what to do? Do I report this to HPD and risk screwing over my roommates who want to stay or do I just just be super honest about the issues and try to get a subletter. UWS Manhattan if that helps

Need a place ASAP budget $2500ish

Hey guys-

Moved in a unit I got from friends but it has EXTENSIVE water damage and issues. Looking for something in Manhattan underneath 96th, Morningside or LIC. I need to move out as soon as possible.

Need: 1 roommate or studio, dishwasher, laundry. Elevator would be ideal too! I would love an outdoor space, but I know that may be a stretch

I’m a 25 year old singer (with family support and a guarantor)

I spend most weekends at my boyfriends, love to cook, go out of town fairly often. I do need a space where I can sing. I promise it’s not all the time, but it is where I make a lot of my income (making demo tracks at home), so if you’re WFH and bothered by noise that may be an issue. I also spend a lot of days at auditions etc, so I won’t be there constantly.

Having a beautiful and well kept space where I can cook and wind down is important to me. I don’t use any drugs or have more than a drink or two in a week.
I’m very friendly and outgoing and would happy to chat or hangout whenever, but am cool to give you space too.

I love to bake and grow plants and craft. I’m really into creating a cozy and lovely space where can both unwind. I am an open communicator and don’t like passive aggressive behavior. I’m okay to compromise on a lot of things too.

I’m very clean and wipe all surfaces daily (no hair in the drain, take out trash often, no food in sink strainer) but I’m also pretty chill.

I’ll be available during the week and next week to tour.

Extremely niche butterfield market question

Hey guys! My boyfriend grew up on the upper east side and told me a story about his favorite treat growing up called half dips from butterfield market.

they were some sort of cookie with apricot and half dipped in chocolate. His birthday is coming up and I’ve scoured the internet and can’t find anything about where I could buy these. Butterfield market has no clue what I was talking about! Checking here to see if any other upper east siders know about these treats?

Does anyone have a rec for a good one time super deep cleaning service on the UWS?

Looking for someone who can bring their own supplies as the last person I spoke with asked us to buy $200+ of specific supplies

did a lease takeover and the place was left in bad shape. We’ve don’t the basics of course but just want to get everything deep cleaned for peace of mind!

Extreme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cleaning company

Hey! I just took an apartment over via lease transfer from some acquaintances. I had seen it a while back when my friend (who apparently was the only person cleaning and maintaining anything) lived there and thought it was a bit disorganized and cluttered, but nothing I couldn’t clean. It’s a huge rent stabilized unit on the UWS and a great deal. The room I toured was totally fine and the bathroom for that room, while gross, was cleanable.

When I got there, it was extremely filthy. There was an actively collapsing ceiling! The building is having to replace all appliances including the kitchen sink, which was filled with mold around the edges, the counters which were severely water damaged. They are also needing to totally redo the downstairs bathroom because the tenants never cleaned them and had to cut water damaged areas out of the ceiling from 4 years of tenant neglect and destruction from unreported leaks from the roof. There is also a bug problem they obscured from us and they never had it properly treated (water bugs, not German cockroaches thank god). As soon as I found out I had an exterminator come the first day. They sealed everything up, gel’d and sprayed.

The girls moving out are leaving their trash and unwanted items for the new tenants to handle. Tons of books, dishes, furniture etc. there are literally dead bugs in the other shower. It’s distressing. The building is saying this is all my responsibility to have removed and clean (it’s a lease takeover, so I understand)

Does anyone have a deep cleaning service to recommend. I don’t need just a basic maid. I mean crime scene level disgusting. I have never seen anyone live this way disgusting. Also perhaps a junk removal service. I’m appalled and I’ve been so upset living here for the last few weeks that I started staying at my friends places until it can be super deep cleaned…….

Free mattress, where to give

I have a full sized mattress. A lofted bed frame and a matching bed skirt to donate

Mattress is totally clean, only been used for nine months. I moved into a friends place and she gave me her bedframe and the mattress just doesn’t fit .

Is there a charity or shelter I could give this to? Thanks
