Anyone else lose interest in gaming as they've gotten older?

Really not sure if its me or the games themselves.

For example, Assassin's Creed. Used to love it growing up, but the switch to RPGs has turned me off it completely. They are just such a slog to get through I don't even bother buying them anymore.

Nowadays, when I sit down to play the though inevitably pops into my head 'youre wasting your time.' I dont feel this watching a movie or reading a book. I guess I've just lost interest in gaming. Feels weird since it was such a dominant part of my younger years. Anyone else go through the same?

Do you know someone who had their life ruined by being recorded on a phone?

Saw this posted on r/askUK and thought it'd be interesting to repost here. The question was inspired by that women in New York who stole the Knicks themed bin after their victory and subsequently lost her job.

It seems like this is a fear very common amongst Gen Z these days and I'm not sure how to feel about it. We all did dumb shit especially as teens/young adults. Depending how egregious I'm not sure its worth ruining someone's life over. (Although the New York woman was in her 40s)

[Off Topic] Am I hurting my legal career by going abroad for a few years?

Graduated last year and been bored out of my mind living at home and working. I've been offered a job teaching English in another European country and am seriously considering it. Its always been my dream to live abroad for a while and learn a new language.

I worry however, with how cutthroat law can be, that I'll be seriously putting myself behind by moving abroad and doing something unrelated to law for 1-2 years.

Are my worries legitimate or overblown?

More games should be shorter and cheaper

I'm at the point of adulthood where a game that boasts '200 hours of playtime' actually turns me off buying it. Not only do I not have the time to play them but in these massive game worlds usually 70% of the content is just copy and paste filler.

Mafia: The Old Country came out last year and whilst shorter than many modern games it was cheaper too. By all accounts its sales exceeded expectations so I really think there's a market here thats being neglected by modern publishers.

Anyone else hate how common recording people is nowadays?

Social media is awash with these types of videos.

Whether its creeps with those Meta glasses, CCTV, Ring doorbells or just random people being recorded without their permission it freaks me out. We've built a digital panopticon without even realising.

I feel particularly bad for kids and teenagers. Every stupid or awkward moment has the potential to be recorded and posted for millions to see. No wonder they're all anxious.

Moving from Ireland - secure a job first or home first?

Under the Common Travel Area between Ireland and the UK I have full right to work and live in the UK. There are no hoops to jump through bar getting a National Insurance Number.

With that in mind, is it worth moving over and securing accomodation or would it be better to secure a job first? I would ideally be looking for a legal or corporate role.

On the one hand, I dont want to spend my savings on a flat only to end up not securing work and going home defeated. On the other, I worry employers would not be aware of the arrangement between Ireland and UK and would be less likely to hire me, assuming I need sponsorship or time to sort out a visa.

Those who left Ireland for purely personal reasons, did it improve things for you?

Whether you felt like you didnt fit in in Ireland, escaping a bad family situation or just wanting an adventure. Did emigrating help fill that void for you? Or did you just bring your problems with you?

Emigrating to a non-English speaking country?

When Irish people talk about emigration its usually to another English speaking country. I'm interested in those where emigrated to somewhere where English is not the official language. Was it a difficult adjustment? What did you do for work? Was learning the language essential to surviving?

Reddit is by far the worst social media for people with OCD

OCD constantly tries to convince you you're a terrible person. That your mistakes are unforgivable.

So many Redditors are like OCD in human form. They are self-righteous, judgemental, engage in black and white thinking and refuse to consider any nuance to a situation.

I think taking time away from this site is the best possible solution for those dealing with OCD.

What is Irish reddit's most out of touch opinion?

For me its anything to do with the GAA. I'm not a fan myself but you'd swear it was some underground sport played exclusively by antisocial wife beaters the way people here go on about it.
