Just started Dead Space Remake, my poor CPU !!

First off goddammmmmn. The atmosphere is amazing, I am using headphones and the sound is also amazing.

One thing I have noticed though is it puts a hurtin’ on the CPU, it’s over 70% usage all the time and often in the 90’s for some time.

Is this the norm for the remake?

Pricing going even more crazy - 5080 Astral OC over $3K

Holy shit.

The 9070XT should rightly dominate sales, I enjoyed my time with one of them (XFX Mercury OC) and have no regrets whatsoever about swapping but man it’s a near impossible sell nowadays.

I can’t believe that they are asking over $3K now for the Astral, and I assume other models will also rise significantly also. They were already way overpriced for what they are, and this is coming from someone who has 2 of these in separate builds, but it somehow makes them appear to be a good deal (which is absolutely nuts because they were not in reality a good deal) when I got them one was $2349 and the other $2149.

It is bloody crazy what’s happening. What is next?

5080 Astral Issues

Recently I started getting black screens and GPU fans going to 100% at random, idle or gaming doesn’t matter they just happen.

Today turned PC on and was greeted with this rude welcome.

Should I be looking at PSU or GPU?

Load balance has been near perfect and no sign of burns or anything like that and using a Corsair RM1000X PSU with Corsair 12V2X6 cable.

Black Screen, GPU Fans 100%. Oh joy!!

Reposting here for more help/ideas!

Ok Reddit, the last few weeks I have had a random black screen crash and GPU fans go 100% only fixable by holding the power button down for a few seconds to turn the PC off.

GPU is a 5080 Astral, there is no signs of any “burning” at all, its pin balance is fine. I didn’t get a pic in game but it’s writhing 0.5A across all and 0.2A when idle. It’s not overheating, temps are excellent.

It happens very randomly, can be sitting on desktop, browsing through steam and gaming whatever and sometimes it will not do it for a couple of days and work as normal sometimes 3,4,5 times a night.

There have been no changes to the system that I have made to explain something “new” causing it.

CPU/GPU stock settings or OC/UV settings appear to make absolutely no difference to the occurrences.

Things I have tried, checked and reseated all cables and reseated the GPU, turning EXPO off, tried different driver versions with DDU before each install.

In my head there are 3 things left, BIOS update, PSU dying or GPU failing so where too from here? Maybe do a BIOS update see what happens there? If nothing changes try a PSU swap and if that doesn’t change anything lastly look at GPU? I do also have a spare GPU cable that I could swap also but the current one seems 100% fine to me.

Fun times.

First time Air Cooling, only one choice right?!

Always used AIO’s and don’t have an issue with them however I was starting to get the itch for trying out an air cooled setup and as it’s a 9700X I figured this was the time and went with the NH-D15 G2 Chromax variant.

What an awesome product. Very happy with the results. I really like the visuals and the great performance with very low noise is fantastic.

Really impressed, glad I made the decision and if the 200mm Noctua fans could have been used in the case I would have grabbed them too however I was informed that it is not possible unfortunately. Maybe that’s misinformation but I am happy to keep the cash in my pocket!

$549 AMD 5800X3D

Who’s going in? Thoughts on price?

I’m genuinely not convinced of the “AMD is the good guy here” narrative here re-launching this but I guess at the end of the day there is no denying, as an upgrade, it’s massively cheaper than a platform jump which is positive.

Put the Astral in the HAVN HS420, plus bonus BF360!

Finally got around to putting the Astral in after selling the 9070XT.

It looks right at home in there and is a perfect opposite brother to the BF360 build I have too!

What a great looking GPU, even though it is a ridiculous price. Love it.

Watched TS pc build guide, did pretty good!

As title says, when I first wanted to build a PC I watched a few videos on YouTube and found the TS one and it went from there. Really cool to build something and it only gets easier!

Here are my builds so far.

9070XT/9700X Build

Messing around on Steel Nomad recently after the new drivers were released and have stumbled myself all the way to #5 on the leaderboard with my system, she ain’t just a pretty face!

Pretty damn happy with that.

Yes I know it doesn’t matter in games but it’s still fun and as there are around 55,000 scores for my combo I reckon it’s kinda cool.

Well after what seemed to take forever to complete has been completed! Doing bits and pieces when I could find the time I finally got around to installing the hardware and finishing it off, and I gotta say I’m very happy with the outcome.

It was completely stripped and painted in Mercedes SELENITGRAU MATT, I only left the front strip black and I think that was a good move to give a little colour contrast.

Painted the heatsink covers of the cooler the same and the Astral looks right at home in there too.

Hope you all like it too!

5080 Astral, ROG X870E-E, 9700X, 32GB G.Skill CL30 RAM, Noctua NH-D15 G2 Chromax Cooler, Cablemod 24 Pin Extension, Corsair 1000W PSU.
