I had my Leep procedure

So I very recently had my LEEP procedure (in Ontario Canada) and wanted to share my experience with everyone!

I had a tiny spot of HSIL CIN 2 so I had to get the procedure done.

Leading up to the procedure I wasn’t nervous. I knew in the back of my mind it was coming up but I didn’t let it get to me so I could enjoy my summer. However on the day of, when I got to the hospital, I completely succumbed to my nerves. I was most nervous about the injection going in. There was no way in my mind multiple injections in the cervix was not going to hurt.

The nurse guided me through everything, the run down of the procedure and what not to do post procedure. You know, the usual.

When it was time to do the procedure, I was panicking and my breath was shallow, rightfully so. No way is a LEEP procedure fun.

The speculum going in felt worse than the ones used for a pap or even colposcopy. It hurt more. The doctor specifically said it’s different and it will be more uncomfortable, I guess it’s coz they really have to get in there.

Once it was in, it was time for the injections. The nurse knew I was freaking out about it so she calmed me down by holding me and starting to ask me questions, to distract me. That 100% helped. I felt the SLIGHTEST pinch, but it only lasted less than a second. I didn’t feel the needle at all, and I certainly didn’t feel the 4 other injections that followed. I was shooketh tbh lol. But then the numbing agent did its thing that everyone doing the LEEP was warned about. My heart was racing so fast, I started getting jitters, my legs were shaking and my breath was even more shallow than when I was just nervous. That was annoying for sure.

It was time for the actual LEEP. The machine was loud, as everyone has said. But not too bad tbh. The doctor went in and proceeded to laser a little piece off as they would in a LEEP procedure. The entire time the nurse was still talking to me, asking me generic things to distract me. Seriously, it works!

Literally, just a minute goes by, and the LEEP was done. I can’t believe it was that quick! The waiting, anticipation and mind going all over the place is really just the worse part. The injection wasn’t even that bad! If anything the speculum going in was really just the worst part.

Now on to the healing. The first day back from the procedure was fine. It’s like I never had a procedure done. No bleeding etc. 2nd day there was a lot of cramps, especially at night with very light spotting. I will say I get pretty tired in the evening. Same thing with the 3rd day etc! So let’s see how this fairs!

If you have to do a LEEP, don’t worry! Do it! It’s not TOO bad (at least with my experience). Of course we shouldn’t have to go through it and it’s a horrible ordeal but it can save you! Do it! Get checked, and if you need to do the LEEP, do it! You got this

Let me know if you have any questions

One tree hill- Haley James/Bethany J Lenz

I’m a millennial so I’m no stranger to one tree hill. I LOVE it and it practically raised me. I’m re-watching OTH for the gazillionth time. I can’t help but find Haley annoying. And I think it’s because of Bethany J Lenz. Her acting and mannerisms make Haley seem like she’s a 40 year old woman. Bethany is giving mum of 3 energy when Haley is suppose to be 16/17 in the beginning.

Don’t get me wrong I loved Haley when I was younger, but as a 34 year old woman now I feel like I’m watching someone my age on screen. Like why is Haley singing boring old slow songs on the opening night of tric? You’re 17! Live a little!

I still love Haley’s character (except for when she’s giving prude virginal energy) but Bethany’s depiction of Haley for whatever reason bugs me as I went into adulthood lol

Anyway that’s my pointless rant

EDIT: I did some research and what I found makes so much sense as to why I feel this way:

**• The Contrast in Acting Styles:** Lenz came from a heavy theater and daytime soap opera background (*Guiding Light*). Her delivery was often very deliberate, articulate, and poised, which stood out sharply against the high-energy, typical teen-drama angst of characters like Brooke or early Nathan.
**• The Wardrobe:** In the early seasons, the wardrobe department routinely dressed Haley in oversized sweaters, cardigans, and modest turtlenecks, which further aged her visual appearance compared to her peers.

Instead of fighting it, the show creators leaned completely into this energy. They leaned into it so hard that by Season 5, when the show did a four-year time jump, Haley was already a mother and a school teacher at age 22, finally matching the mature energy Lenz had been delivering since the pilot.

Also, I want to say there’s nothing wrong with being a virgin. I was a late bloomer myself. She just comes out so self righteous about it

Condo forcing us to put bird netting

My condo is forcing us to put bird netting on the balconies due to a pigeon “problem”

I don’t care about the pigeon problem. I clean the balcony and I’m good but I guess I have old people as neighbours or something because they want everyone to have netting and now the condo board is mandating the nets

Now my condo has a gorgeous view, one of the perks of my unit (esp when selling) and what we paid for. A net will be absolutely obstructive to the view and also feel claustrophobic and confining. I feel this is unfair and also we have to incur the cost (wtf??)

Can I decline this mandate?

How was your LEEP procedure

I have my LEEP procedure coming up sometime soon. I’m terrified. This is my first ever one. Please tell me how the numbing injection in the cervix felt (I like to know what’s coming) and how really was the post surgery recovery? I workout quite a lot, and I know I have to rest for 4-6 weeks. But can I do some easy light cardio after the 2nd week?

But yes, how was the pain during the procedure (from the injection to the actual procedure) to the heal process. As much detail as possible is greatly appreciate.

IM SCARED

Just had a colposcopy and biopsy done - my thoughts

Ladies, I just came back from the hospital after getting a colposcopy with a biopsy done since being diagnosed with hpv16 and low grade abnormal changes to my cells. Here is my experience of the colposcopy + biopsy:

As one does, I did a whole bunch of research and reading on what the heck a colposcopy entailed, as well as what a biopsy also means, and also women’s experiences of this procedure. I would say a good 60% of the reviews were that it was so painful and the most horrible experience ever. Naturally, I was terrified before going into my procedure.

The insertion:
The first part of the colposcopy was exactly like the pap where they insert some kind of a cold metal device. That part for both the pap and the colposcopy was uncomfortable for me with a pinching like feeling. But bearable. The pinch from insertion is the only painful thing in this part, the rest is just pressure and uncomfortableness.

The vinegar solution:
The doctor then rubs a vinegar solution around the cervix so that they can see the abnormal cells. This part felt like a light burn. The same way you’d burn when vinegar spills on your regular skin, or when you’d rub alcohol on an open cut. Uncomfortable, a slight sting and annoying but not painful.

The assessment:
The doctor then assesses the area and tries to identify any lesions or abnormalities shown by the vinegar solution. I had one tiny lesion shown.

The biopsy:
The doctor informs me that they need to take a biopsy of that lesion to take to the lab and test to see if it was precancerous. As she was saying this, the nurse was simultaneously pulling out this massive contraption that looked like a long scissor/hole punch hybrid (not trying to scare you, but being transparent). Of course seeing that made me freak out and I remembered all the horrible anecdotes of the pain many women felt in this procedure (as if it wasn’t painful or uncomfortable already). My heart rate went up and my breathing went shallow. I immediately asked if it would be painful. She said it could be, but it should be just a pinch. She also said I could get frozen/numbed but that involved a needle and said that the needle would hurt more than the actual biopsy. Hearing that it would be a needle going in there to freeze me, and knowing how much I hate needles to begin with, I opted to get a tiny piece of my cervix out, with no anesthesia! Keep in mind I didn’t take an ibuprofen before either. The doctor assured me it would be quick. I said “as long as it’s quick, let’s just get it over with”. She told me to do the old “cough” trick. Anticipating an excruciating pain, I didn’t feel a thing. And before I knew it, it was over.

The aftermath:
As I said, I didn’t feel a single thing in terms of severe pain, when the biopsy/chunk of my cervix was taken. What I did feel immediately after the biopsy though, was a cramp. A strong period cramp. I will say, I’ve had worse period cramps than that, but the cramp from the biopsy was still strong and significant. When she was done entirely, the cramp lingered, and there was a soreness from the entire procedure. And the soreness and cramping lasted 40 mins after. I walked home about 2 km right after the procedure. I was still sore so I was walking slow, but I was still able to walk home.

Thoughts and consensus:
If I were to give a rating for this experience, 10 for being the most painful and uncomfortable score, I would give it a 7 out of 10 (the Pap being a 5). Hopefully these ratings will help you see where your pain threshold is compared to mine, and find some parallels to my experience

The entire procedure took only 10 mins, the biopsy only being 1 second of it. I was fully imagining there would be excruciating sharp pains like you would get if you were to cut yourself with a knife or something, but there was none of that. The only sharp pain was from the metal device being inserted at first, but that was just a sharp pinch. Everything else felt quite uncomfortable and with a lot of pressure. The biopsy itself went undetected other than a strong period cramp shortly after the biopsy was taken. The soreness and continuous period cramps were annoying but subsided after 40 mins. I was also able to go back to my normal routines but I kept it light to be safe. I am seeing some spotting in my pad but assume things will get messy as the days goes by.

Please do keep in mind I had only 1 biopsy done. Not sure how the pain/cramping/soreness would be with more than one biopsy taken.

My anecdote of my colposcopy + biopsy experience is not to negate or invalidate all the other women’s painful experiences with this procedure, but more to add to the various other experiences that women could have with this, and also to not scare women out of this procedure, but rather encourage to get these screening/precautionary tests done. It’s not a fun procedure at the end of the day but necessary for your life. There is a 100% guaranteed uncomfortable feeling for sure, with a 90% guaranteed sharp pain from the insertion of the devices. The rest totally depends on personal pain tolerances. If you can handle sharp period pains, then you SHOULD be able to tolerate the period like pains you get from this. I am unable to say if you would experience any other excruciating pains from the biopsy, but the actual biopsy for me wasn’t too bad. It does help to cough. Regardless, I wish none of us would have to go through this, painful or not.

At the end of the day, advocate for yourself, stay informed and be strong! You got this girlies!

How was your colposcopy/biopsy experience?

If you have any questions, let me know! Will be happy to help!

Grange park dog park

I’ve been to a lot of dog parks around downtown Toronto with my dog, and the Grange park dog park seems to be the worst one. There’s a morning crew at around 8am that brings their dogs. The same few people. Their dogs are so aggressive! They are a group of bullies. They bark aggressively and with hostility to other dogs, or any dog that walks outside of the park. I’d be convinced that if the dog park didn’t have a fence, those dogs would maul anything or anyone in their way.

What’s worse is, the owners don’t give a crap. They stand around talking, see their dogs aggressively barking at other dogs, ignore and continue to talk. They don’t even try to correct or distract their aggressive dogs.

Also. I’ve seen 2 different dogs with muzzles in the dog park. Funny enough, these muzzled dogs are friends with the bully dogs(aka the owners of these muzzled dogs are friends with the owners of the aggressive dogs). Peas in a pod I guess.

I’ve heard many people complain about this dog park (and the morning crew). I’ve also seen a thread or two about it. I visit a lot of dog parks so I avoid grange park now, but anyone else who are regulars at grange agree?

Bought a new couch - best way to protect it?

We bought a new couch. As you know, couches are bloody expensive. I (stupidly?) bought a creamy beige one coz *aesthetics* but a)we host a lot, b) we have a dog albeit he barely gets on couches but still, and c) I just want to preserve the colour and freshness as much as possible. What are your best tips on how to preserve a brand new couch?

I saw there’s something called the protectME fabric protector that people use for their couches? What caught my eye is that it looks like water or spillage slides right off the couch if you use this spray. Can anyone vouch for that? I can deal with my dogs hair but since we host a lot, if any of my drunk friends spill their drinks and ruin my couch I’d be so upset lol.

Any and all tips on how to protect a new couch will be greatly appreciated
