We Haven't Seen The Last of Rose

uj/ I never watched the Lego Star Wars shows because I have precisely 0 interest in them. But I'm happy that Kelly Marie Tran got to return to the character of Rose in some shape or form.

MAGAs don't care about our military

I'm old enough to remember 9/11 and how the in-vogue thing was conservatives, specifically the overweight middle aged variety who would never dream of putting on a uniform and putting themselves in danger, sticking yellow "Support Our Troops" stickers on the backs of their SUVs. I'm also old enough to how criticism of the Iraq War was met with, "Anyone who disagrees with this war is an anti-American sympathizer with Islamic terrorists and hates our military."

I also remember how conservatives, specifically the kind who would never dream of connecting a veteran with a job or affordable housing, donating to a veterans' charity, or volunteering at a VA hospital, reliably said, "What about our veterans?" whenever they saw a liberal politician propose something that benefits someone they don't like. Basically, "Why are we helping <insert marginalized group here> when we have homeless veterans?"

And oh look: Cadet Bonespurs and SecDef Kegsbreath decided to start a completely unplanned war with Iran just to get the media to stop talking about the Epstein files. And MAGAs did an about face from "Support Our Troops" to "lol look how wimpy our troops are! How dare they not answer to Dear Leader Trump's beck and call?" And the bots and overseas troll farms came up with the narrative of, "lol but these are wimps who enlisted under Biden! No wonder our military is so weak!"

Reddit pushes the r/DefendingAIArt sub to me. The whole sub is just AI slop that's cringey memes defending AI slop.

If New York is such a hell hole, then pray tell why isn't Fox News moving out of their midtown HQ in favor of the supposed conservative paradise that is Florida?

Though I've been to Miami a number of times.

Far from being the conservative paradise that's an alternative to New York, I found that traffic is actually worse in the Miami area, apartment rents even deep in the Miami suburbs are frequently more than what they are in New York, and the crime rate in Miami on a good day is actually double New York's. Anyone who's ever seen Scarface knows that Miami is a key point for the Latin American drug trade.

But seriously: Fox News moving out would actually be welcomed by most New Yorkers.

Why do Anakin stans make Padme something she isn't?

I wanted to share a bit of AI slop that I found on Instagram, but I won't out of sub rules.

When Gen AI became a thing, some of the most common AI slop I've been seeing depicts what happens following the "What If?" ending of the Revenge of the Sith video game in which Anakin has defeated Obi-Wan on Mustafar, overthrows Palpatine, and rules the Empire himself.

The common things I see in this fanfiction is Anakin ruling the Empire still as a fascist dictatorship, Luke and Leia growing up as Anakin's Sith disciples, and Padme...just submissively going along with it.

To me, it's obvious that Padme was always supposed to be the good that counterbalanced the evil in Anakin/Vader. Within the movie, Padme straight up says, "You're going down a path I can't follow." Nowhere in Padme's characterization is there any indication that she would've just submissively followed Vader in the Empire had she survived.

So I ask: Why do so many fans read Padme not as the genuine strong woman who basically fought off the Trade Federation herself and laid down the foundation for the Rebellion, but just as Anakin's submissive prize? There's absolutely no timeline where Padme survives and doesn't align herself with the Rebellion.

Still waiting for a Republican to define communism

And no, communism isn't just, "Someone who's a member of a group I don't like now has something nice."

Yes, but what about the Epstein files?

Oh, and thank you for reminding us that Fox News readers voted for a pedophile because they are too racist and misogynistic for a dark-skinned woman president.

Maybe Elon should spend more time actually running his business and less time crusading against wokeness?

I remember when the Tesla board considered replacing Elon as CEO because being CEO is supposed to be a full time job. In addition to (allegedly) being CEO of other companies, he was obviously distracted with buying an election for Donald Trump and revving up his online cult of racist incels. Elon only got to keep his CEO position and win an inflated comp package because his brother had outsized voting rights on the board.

Hot Waffles Shilling for Disney in 2005

Don't they know the prequels were Star Wars at its best? Only wokies and Disney shills disagree.

"FROM MY POINT OF VIEW, THE JEDI ARE EVIL!" is peak writing because Anakin is literally me, bro.

Attack of the Clones is the 3rd best Star Wars movie because Anakin is literally me, bro

Think about it: I too am a maladjusted weirdo with fascist leanings and serious anger management problems. Attack of the Clones's romance was great precisely because it gave me hope that I too can win a liberal politician who looks like early 2000s Natalie Portman.

I recently read Carl Sagan's The Demon-Haunted World. That book was written in the 1990s, and even back then Sagan, himself a college professor, observed how completely underequipped Americans were for scientific majors or careers.
