I've been playing smash since 3DS/WII U and I don't know how to practice to get good enough to play online. I thought that playing against random level 9 CPU would be enough but I either find them too easy or way too hard to beat, it feels like the ai difficulty varies between characters sometimes.

I've tried playing online before too but all the players I get matched with are just multiple Leagues beyond my skill level and it's almost impossible to practice against them when I'm constantly getting beat with no room to practice. Hell I've even tried practicing against my amiibo, it was the most fun but it didn't seem like there was any point practicing against an AI designed to play like yourself.

I've tried practicing different techniques and I'd say I'm good at grabbing and dodging but I also simply don't understand how to parry, I can just never get it right and it puts me at a disadvantage whenever I try to pull it off.

The characters I use the most are Banjo&Kazooie, K rool, meta knight and cloud but I'd say I'm best when using banjo&kazooie or K rool.

Out of the many times I've thought "If this guy just did one attack nonstop he'd easily win" did I think I'd actually find a character who does exactly that
