“Whatever you’ve got” soup
All we had tonight were some carrots, potatoes, a can of chickpeas, a little leftover red lentil, some dehydrated garlic and bouillon. Just add water and cook until soft.
Don’t neglect the bulk isle! Herbs, spices, salt and pepper can be SO much cheaper than the packaged version. Had this with some toasted white bread. Filling, easy and cheap AF.

Heirloom Bruschetta with Balsamic and Burrata
Spring for some spendy balsamic and it was SO worth it! Just toasted some baguette on a griddle with olive oil, and topped it with heirloom tomatoes, basil, salt & pepper. I’d never had burrata before and I really enjoyed it. Very clean, pure dairy taste.

Vegan Cubano and Crispy Rice Cake with Mock Tuna Filling from the Herbivorous Butcher at the MN State Fair!
Soooo delicious! The sauce that comes with the Cubano is good enough to bottle and sell and I hope they do at their store. If you ever find yourself at the Great Minnesota Get-Together you’ll find plenty of scrumptious vegan options!

What is the easiest version of TV (other than cable) for a 96 year old?
My grandma is 96 and lives in an assisted living apartment. It’s a nice place. The facility includes basic cable in their monthly bill; however, they recently changed their contract and some of the channels are gone.
I’ve talked to the facility, I’ve talked to the cable company, there doesn’t seem to be a way for her (and only her) to get those specific channels back. I’d like to get her something like a Roku or Firestick—but she’s 96 and not very tech savvy. She will not be able to switch between regular TV, the device, and back to regular TV. I’m certain of this.
She wants the local PBS channels, CBS, the History channel and TCM. And a couple more but those are the really important ones.
Does anyone know what device or extension would have all of these channels? Or does anyone have an idea for a good workaround? She’s my elderly grandma I want her to have the shows she’s used to and likes.
