What does NHS do after missed miscarriage?

2 pregnanices in last 6 months. 1 CP at 6 weeks and now 1 MMC at 8 weeks.

During my first pregnancy, I felt helpless and lost - it was confusing to navigate the early pregnancy support system with NHS.

This time I got some blood tests and scans done privately and I was able to get help from the EPU very quickly as I was seen there before. So far I am happy with the support I've been getting with NHS.

I am going to my local EPU (not the one I went in for the first time as it's farther from home) to get one last scan next Monday. They say I might be able to get the surgery done next week as well.

I just wanted to know what kind of "after care" the EPU can provide - like follow up scan to confirm a complete clearance, genetic testing of the tissue, hCG tests to see if it drops properly, etc. Also I am 38 and my husband is 47. I'm wondering if we could get a specialist consultation with NHS after two losses (ofc I can ask this while I'm there but just seeking any personal experience).

I just moved to the UK last year for work and it is pretty standard to get all those things done after D&C in the country where I'm from.

I understand each trust is different but I'd love to hear from those who had gone through the process. If not provided, I'd start looking for a private option. Thank you!

Whether to go in for scan due to very light brown discharge

For context, I had an early loss in April and my husband and I are late 30s and mid 40s.

Today I am 8w 2d. Had a viability scan at 7 weeks which confirmed a healthy pregnancy so far with a good heartbeat. Baby measured on par with the date. No SCH was found (specifically said there's no bleeding around).

I first noticed a very light brown discharge last Thursday (2 days after the scan). It was light enough to appear as an orange color. It was brief - took only one liner with like two streaks. I saw some when I wiped too but only once.

Then it was fine for few days until last night.

It's a bit more than last week. Color's about the same.

I called the EPU I went for my last miscarriage, just to ask what to do if it were to worsen. But they just offered me an appointment tomorrow for a scan and exam.

I'm not sure if this is something to go the EPU for...?

Yes I am worried and spiraled a bit last night but I was gonna see if it gets worse.

I do have a short trip (2 nights 3 days) that requires a 1.5 hr flight this Wednesday. So I'm also thinking it's better to know, regardless of the outcome, before the trip so I can plan accordingly.

I just don't want to act irrationally and take up the limited resource unnecessarily..

Feeling guilty and anxious for not working ouy as often

Currently 7w 4d. Luckily I don't have much symptoms - I had two days of bad nausea at the start of week 6 but it eased off and I only have occasional queasiness that lasts an hour or two. Not much fatigue, not that tired, no headache.

I am just taking it easy for first few weeks as I had a miscarriage before. And I think I just gradually became a bit lazier and use pregnancy as an excuse to skip gym.

Today I promised myself that I'd go to the gym and do some lifting. Then I started to feel mild pressure in my lower abdomen. So I decided to just lie down.

Lying in my couch, I kind of feel bad and worry that I'd lose the muscle and strength I built, that I'd gain more weight than I should. I think it's just coming from the inner overachiever telling me I failed to be productive and disciplined 🤣 I guess it's mostly because I don't have much debilitating symptoms yet still decided to rest..

How did you all decide when to rest and when to push a little bit?

Radiologist didn't let us hear the heartbeat at 7 week scan

We recently had our first viability scan at 7 weeks 4 days at London Pregnancy Clinic.

The person who did the scan was a specialist (radiologist) and she was very kind and thorough.

I was excited to actually hear the heartbeat during this scan but she only confirmed the cardiac activity with visualization - we could see the flickering and also she pulled out some heart waves but no actual sound.

I asked if we can hear the hearbeat and she said it could be 'too much' for the baby to use the specific energy needed to capture the sound, so didn't recommend it.

As she said the baby and the pregnancy looked great, I am not too worried about not hearing the heartbeat. But I never heard of anyone saying it could be bad for the baby. Starting which stage of pregnancy does it become ok to hear the heartbeat then?

Did anyone have such experience?

Proof of address for first midwife appointment?

I moved to London last year due to my husband's relocation. Since then, I haven't really felt the need to care if my name is on the flat lease, any bills, etc.

So the only mails I have received with my name and the address are the NHS letters for the upcoming appointments.

I do have a Revolut account but again never deposited any money to use it. So I don't know if this would suffice as a proof of address.

The letter says I should bring a photo ID and proof of address. Any advice appreciated!

Moderate nausea - what kind of exercise can I try?

Currently 6w 3d and nausea has finally arrived.

I had some mild queasiness and diminished appetite starting the end of week 5, but it is definitely worse now.

I haven't vomitted. It's more like a tail end of hangover where I feel a bit uneasy in my stomach, somewhat nauseated but not actively puking.

I noticed today that walking outside kind of helps. I'm not sure if it's becuase I'm distracted or what. So it made me think maybe I should work out and see it helps.

Prior to pregnancy, I would lift weights 3-4x/week, swim 2-3x/week and HIIT class workout once a week.

Was there any particular exercise that helped you with nausea? I feel like inclined walking would be a good choice but I'm afraid I will throw up or feel really sick once I get to the gym.

Flying Shibe

He would do this every single time we go for a walk..

As if he's such a prolific hunter 🤣 He got lucky once and caught a small gecko. Ever since then he's been hopeful but fails every time lol

Lately he has learned to make multiple, consecutive jumps. He jumps and dives into bushes, head first, five-six times in a row. Very entertaining to watch lol

20 DPO - dye stealer with cheapies 😭😭😭😭

I had miscarriage in April and got pregnant again this cycle. It was an emotional rollercoaster since I foun out I'm pregnant at 10 DPO becuase I was so anxious about having another loss. Every single small thing led to this spiral of worries.

I got my beta hCG checked last week which was fine and then I just stopped testing because I knew it would only make me obsessed with every little small thing.

I tested today because it marked one week since I last tested. Just so so happy and relieved to see a dye stealer on this cheapie strip!!!!!!!

Yes I know the HPTs can't accurately track the progression of pregnancy but at least it gives me some sort of peace of mins until my first early scan next month.

u/Foreign-Banana8663 — 28 days ago

First weeks till the first scan/appointment is kind of brutal 🤦🏻‍♀️

Nothing serious, just vent.

I did everything in my power to put myself at peace.

Did home pregnancy tests every day to confirm a good progression. Did beta hCG and progesterone tests and confirmed hCG tripled in less than two days. Got a dye stealer on FRER test. Booked a viability scan at 7 weeks.

And now I'm just waiting for the scan in 3 weeks, knowing fully well that there's nothing I can do for now. I guess I feel like I lost control over the situation and it kind of bothers my Type A ass 🤣

I'm considering getting 5 week scan just to see a gestational sac is there and see myself that I am indeed pregnant. But also I know it can cause unnecessary anxiety.

I really don't feel pregnant at all besides mild cramps like a period cramp.

Geez it's gonna be the longest 3 weeks of my life!!!!!

How did you all manage this waiting period?

Line progression is okay? And possible dye stealer? (17 DPO)

In April, I had a chemical pregnancy and never saw a dye stealer for that pregnancy.

So it would make me feel much more relieved and definitely will give me a peace of mind if I saw a dye stealer for this one 🥹

Anxiously waiting for one...!

What do you all think?

I have one FRER stick left. I really hope I don't need to order more. Should I take another in 2 days?

Has anyone used London Pregnancy Clinic for private scans/tests?

I am looking to book my first viability scan with a private clininic in London.

I like LPC (especially West branch) because it's really close to where I live. Also it's more pregnancy focused than Ultrasound Direct. Lastly, it looks like they offer to do the ultrasound with 3D/4D whenever appropriate and I heard the quality of equipment seemed better than other clinics.

So I am leaning towards doing most of my private scans at LPC but I wasn't able to find many reviews or comments about them on this sub compared to other clinics such as Fetal Medicine Centre and Ultrsound Direct.

If anyone had their scans or tests like NIPT with LPC, please share your experience!

DPO 17 - can I stop testing now? 🥹

I promised myself to stop testing once I see a dye stealer. I had one pregnancy that ended as a CP so i guess it makes me extra anxious.

I wanted to see a dye stealer with FRER but the package hasn't arrived. Should I test it again with FRER? I don't like how the lines have little smudges around them.

u/Foreign-Banana8663 — 1 month ago

Just turned 4 weeks...I don't know if I should keep testing until the first ultrasound 🤣

Tested every day last week.

Even had beta hCG testes and it was doubling ok.

Now I am 4 weeks.

I have at least 2-3 weeks until I can get a viability scan at a private clinic.

In the meantime, I don't know what to do.

Just....hope for the best and pray this one sticks?

This waiting period is not gonna be fun 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

What did you all do? Do a daily test?

Help!

Feeling unmotivated at week 4 - part of the symptom?

I don't have much symptoms yet as I just turned 4 week pregnant today. Found out I'm pregnant pretty early about 5 days ago.

Last two days, I am more tired partly because my sleep was disturbed for some reason.

And I just don't want to go to the gym. I ended up going every day this week, but today I just really don't want to. It's more like I feel lazy to go, rather than I'm exhausted.

Is this something related with pregnancy or just me being a slacker? 🤣

Update on low PdG after BFP

I made a post about how my PdG level this cycle (BFP) was way lower than my other unsuccessful cycles. (https://www.reddit.com/r/Inito/s/2AvQZtC40f)

I wanted to remind some people not to read too much into Inito charts to predict or track pregnancy.

A few people advised to get progesterone tested -as I already had an appointment for beta hCG yesterday, I simply added progesterone to be tested.

The result came back and it looks like it's perfectly fine.

Progesterone on DPO 12 or 3wk 4 days was 34.6 ng/mL (or 110 nmol/L). The Inito values for PdG were 17.74 yesterday and 15.34 this morning, which is still lower than what I had in previous cycles.

My beta hCG was 74.

Thank you those who genuinely shared their concerns!

I really hope it sticks this time 🥹

Progesterone level seems ok but should I repeat it sometime later or just hope for the best?

For context, I was lucky to get pregnant for thr first cycle TTC back in March but it ended as a CP around 5wk 5days.

I found out I am pregnant again few days ago, and for I was worried about having another CP, I decided to go for a private blood test (based in the UK).

The test result came back just now - beta hCG is 73 IU/L (same as mIU/L) and progesterone is 110 nmol/L (~ 34.6 ng/mL). It was taken on 3wk 4days (DPO 12).

I searched online and I think those numbers are within normal range, so I am relieved for now.

My question is whether I should repeat progesterone test later or not. I am going in agian for the second beta hCG tomorrow to see the trend.

What's the common approach for progesterone?

Once you get a satisfactory result, do you just assume that progesterone level is ok for the following weeks?

beta hCG and progesterone test

Few months back, I had a CP.

As I am anxious given the history, I scheduled a private blood test for beta hCG tomorrow.

Now I'm thinking to ask adding progesterone as well to see if its level is sufficient for the current stage.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone done this before?

  2. If the result comes back as low progesterone, who do I go to for progesterone prescription?

DPO 11- BFP with FRER and CB digital but almost nothing with easy@home

Tests taken on DPO 11 in the afternoon

I understand the strips are way less sensitive but from what I've seen from others, the line should be a bit darker than what it is for me.

Did anyone have this kind of experience with easy@home strips?

I'm getting beta hCG done tomorrow so I should just relax and breathe but you all know how this feels right?! 😭🤣

TW/ got BFP with the lowest PdG level of my history

Wise people on this sub were so right when they said never read too much into the Inito chart after ovulation is confirmed.

This is my third cycle tracking with Inito (4th TTC, had a chemical pregnancy from the first cycle).

The first two cycles, my charts looked almost textbook. I had significantly high PdG levels after ovulation (it reached its max at 40) and remained elevated.

I was testing with HPTs and Inito - I convinved myself I am using Inito just out of curiosity but it definitely messed with my head.

This cycle, I stopped testing with Inito after ovulation was confirmed. I was less obsessed with the little things I felt in my body.

Today as I got BFP with both FRER and digital, I wanted to see what my Inito numbers are like. And to my surprise, both my PdG and E3G are lower than the ones for my unsuccessful cycles!!!

I just wanted to share this piece of info again - don't drive yourselves crazy with nonstop testing with Inito after you ovulated!!! It really can't reflect possible/confirmed pregnancy.

Now I'm gonna force myself not to test again after today. I naturally want to know my progesterone level as I had a chemical pregnancy and I read a low progesterone level makes pregnancy hard to maintain. But I promised I won't!
