Interesting addition I thought!

New, arrived today! A bit of a chore to wind and set the date and time but that’s part of the fun as I understand it with the Vostoks! I like how it looks and feels though.

My dedicated Casio box. Want one more to fill it. I was thinking of waiting till I could afford it and get an automatic Edifice? What do folks reckon?

Impulse buy of this little fella. Wasn’t sure as quite small case for what I like, but it’s growing on me!

[Posted my new PRX quartz the other day but I thought the photo made it look it was smudged and had a mark on it. It didn’t, but I’ve decided to do a better photo ha]

Still love the mint green and that I decided to do quartz. I have four automatics and love them but for this one quartz is fine and I just love the materials and quality for the price. And it goes with so many things.

[Potentially unpopular choice and post alert-dreaded fashion watch but I like it!]

So, I have plenty of watches and completely understand that buying dedicated watch brands is classier, and better value for money. Most of my watches fall into that category, at various price points from cheap, affordable, Swiss made to entry level luxury.
BUT, I just got two new Lacoste polos 👕 for my holidays and spotted this little beauty in Argos. It was only £89 and I just think it looks understated and classy. Yes I get that it’s an ordinary mass produced movement, but they are manufactured by Movado and they are decent enough. Anyway, it’s a nicely designed, and attractive addition to my collection, if not anything special.

[Had a PRX on my list for a while.]

Since starting my watch collection of various price points I have been drawn a couple of times to Tissot, and videos and reviews constantly tell me they are excellent and respected for the money. PRX I know has become a bit of a design classic. I was holding out for an automatic but I have several and a couple of videos sold the benefits of the quartz so have gone for that, and will put the difference towards another watch! I love the mint green dial too and even bought a polo shirt that matches! Enjoying the butterfly clasp. Very classy box too with a little book included about the history of the company. Thoughts welcome.

[Couldn’t resist this little beauty]

I swore I was done with watches until I could afford my ‘grail’ but I keep reading about the affordable classic that is the Orient Bambino and I don’t have a dress watch, and at £290 just from Argos online, I couldn’t resist. The case is a bit smaller than I’d usually go for at 38mm, but it is a dress watch I suppose and I love it. I don’t get the hate about the straps on these. Sure it’s a little stiff but I think it feels decent leather and it will wear in fine. Thoughts on these?

[Smallish but budding collection, from very affordable but fun retro, to entry level luxury. Thoughts and future ideas please watch hive mind?]

It started with an entry level luxury Tag Heuer Formula One, a treat to myself, and went from there really. From a couple of fun retro very affordable but handsome Casios, and a not at all valuable but priceless to me engraved pocket watch I got in 2011 for being my best friend’s best man, to all you see here. The grail would be a Rolex really (I’m not very original!) But for now I’m happy with the variety and really enjoying my new hobby, even if my bank balance doesn’t always! Thoughts and future ideas welcome, timepiece hive mind!

[Latest watch, as was curious about Duxot-some thoughts and looking for others’ experiences of the brand]

So, I have quite a few watches now, from very affordable retro to entry level luxury, but kept seeing adverts for Duxot. They were a bit of a curio to me as they have had a few mixed opinions but are affordable, but good reviews for solid cases, sapphire crystal and good timekeeping. So as this automatic diver was on offer for £145 I thought I’d give it a go. So the strap is a little bit rattly but with a few links out and an adjustment it fits perfectly and doesn’t pinch any arm hairs! The case and crystal is solid and looks and feels good. It has a nice movement (Japanese I understand?) and the finishing and brushed/polished look is really nice. The bezel feels a bit stiff and perhaps not top drawer quality, but overall I am impressed, especially for the price. I understand a lot of them are homages but it has enough originality for me and is a nice handsome affordable addition to my collection.
What are other people’s thoughts and experiences of Duxot?

[New G-Shock GA-2000] A little bit tricky to set up but absolutely love it.

A solid one for my running and swimming, I love the colour and style, I was worried the case was too big but I THINK I’ve got away with it, and one of Casio’s own YouTube videos helped me set it up and understand it. Happy to have it in my watch collection.

Got this little gem off eBay. A little scuffed as second hand but love this as much as my expensive ones.

Fairly new to watch collecting and have a few entry to mid level expensive ones but also the joy of this hobby is finding affordable little gems. I saw a YouTube video about Casio and the review of this one really impressed me. So I found one on eBay. Found a nice Casio presentation case for it too.

[First Seiko-Relatively new to watch collecting and the sort of mid range ones fascinate me and heard a lot about them so treated myself to this Prospex automatic diver. Thoughts?]

The strap was very big for me and I have a 7.2 inch wrist, but a local Timpson’s sorted it for me and I’m very pleased with it. I’ve heard mixed reports about the quality of the straps and the anti scratch quality of the Hardlex. What do people think?

[New and first Tissot-thoughts please?]

I’m pretty new to collecting. I’m from entry level to affordable luxury in what I can afford at the moment, but have discovered the joys of aesthetically pleasing decent quality Swiss brands for reasonable price. This is the third most affordable I have bought at only £345 (still a lot of money for many people I know.) This one looks a bit different to my others I have so far. The strap is a little unwieldy as it’s thicker at the top but generally I’m very pleased. Thoughts? Paul, UK.
