Child OCI while Parent's Renunciation is in progress

Spouse and I are former Indian citizens. Spouse acquired foreign citizenship few years ago and also received OCI while I recently acquired foreign citizenship and just sent out my surrender/renunciation application via VFS and it's in process.

Regarding my child's OCI application, all docs are ready but should I wait until I receive my surrender certificate and cancelled stamp in my Indian passport or can I send out child's application along with a copy of my surrender application as reference?

Surrender application rejected

My consulate would be Houston. I filled and downloaded the govt form using this link (https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/) since that’s under the Indian passport surrender section in VFS.

I did not realize the form says Atlanta on the top. The govt application doesn’t give me an option to select the consulate anywhere. Hence, the Houston location rejected and is sending my package back.

I looked and no where could I find one which is specific for Houston. Can someone please help?

Can OCI holders work in India?

I am in the midst of my renunciation/OCI process and should be getting it soon. I’m planning a trip to India later this year and would like to work a week or two there remotely while taking PTO for the remainder of my stay

My company also does have presence in India, albeit in a different state from where my family resides. Are OCI holders allowed to work in India without a work permit for short term?

Where to watch The Odyssey?

Heard AMC Rivercenter 11 is still having issues with the projector breaking down. Is that still the case?

What’s the next best option - Palladium IMAX or Regal Live Oak?

Backup plan is drive up to IMAX at Bullock State History Museum in Austin since they have a IMAX GT dual laser which is the closest one can get to IMAX 70mm

What is the monthly maintenance for high rises from reputed builders?

Debating between high rises from Tier-I/II builders like MH, Prestige, Aparna and the likes or standalone apartments. One major concern post purchase is the monthly maintenance fee which seems to be ~20k on average for a 2k+sft flat in high rises while standalone seems to be closer 10k

Is this accurate - what monthly maintenance figures are y’all seeing and is justified, especially the ones who are buying for investment purposes?

Navi Mumbai Airport Sucks

Neither the exterior nor the interiors resemble anything remotely close to the renders. It’s bland and boring, shoddy construction quality, uneven panels & surfaces with leaks from the recent rains.

Bangalore’s T2 might still be the best and even the upcoming ones like Vizag, Guwahati, Jewar seem to be pretty good

Photo not meeting ICAO requirements for surrender certificate

I'm filling out the online application but no matter what photo I upload, the system is flagging that it's not meeting ICAO compliance primarily for the below two reasons

  • Face Width Ratio You’re standing too close to the camera; You need to stand 1.5 meters away from the camera
  • Face Length Ratio The photo does not comply with minimal and maximal head dimensions. Face too large/small. Try recapturing

One of the photo I tried with is the same as in my Indian passport which was obtained towards the end of 2025 and that isn't working either. I also tried editing it to meet the above criteria but nothing works. Can someone help how I can navigate around this?

Air India seeks to defer hundreds of aircraft deliveries

Air India is looking to defer the delivery of hundreds of jets on order from Airbus and Boeing as ‌it cuts costs, two people familiar with the matter said, confirming a Bloomberg report.

Airbus  and Boeing  declined comment and Air India was not immediately available for comment.

In 2023, Air India placed what was then a record order for a total of 470 jets from Airbus and Boeing to accelerate the rebirth of its brand under new majority owners Tata Group. It also leased a further 25 jets.

The airline now faces mounting losses and ‌operational disruptions linked to the Iran conflict, compounding the effects of Pakistan's airspace ban and a crisis of confidence following a fatal Boeing 787 crash a year ago.

Air India last month cut flights on several routes, citing airspace restrictions and record jet fuel prices.

Bloomberg News reported earlier that Air India is looking to defer deliveries, cut flights and postpone expansion plans after Tata Group instructed it to focus on reducing its record losses.

Inheriting a Cirrus 820 - F250 or F350?

A family member is upgrading to a Prevost class-A and has graciously agreed to give away his 820 for a nominal price. I previously had no plans to purchase a RV/camper even though we’ve been avid travelers/roadtrippers. I did have plans to purchase an F150 Tremor or Raptor but now that we’re getting a camper, I’m considering the F250 or 350. Which should I go with?

Approaching 70k miles on my 2021 K5, what actually needs to be done since dealership packages are costing a 💣

Replaced spark plugs at 63k miles

Here’s what I’m considering doing

  1. Brakes + rotors replacement with a full brake flush (bought the brakes and rotors already)
  2. Coolant flush
  3. Engine & cabin air filter replacement
  4. Transmission flush
  5. Oil change
  6. Tire rotation

Immigration wait time at Toronto airport

First time traveling to Canada and will be flying via Porter in to the Toronto airport with a 1.5h layover and onwards to Calgary. We’re US citizens with US passports and I’m concerned if 1.5h is enough time for us to complete immigration. Don’t need to collect and transfer bags since airlines confirmed they’d do it and the connecting flight (Porter) is also in the same terminal.

1 week in London vs 2 weeks in UK (London + Scotland)

Wife and I have a week off that we need to utilize within the next couple of months. We’re from the US and always wanted to visit London + Scotland. I’m inclined towards doing a week in London this year and visit Scotland sometime later while wife wants both in the same trip where we’d have to use 2 weeks of our PTO which’d likely be next year.

We also have a <2 yr old toddler, so we’d be planning our itinerary to be a bit toddler friendly. What would be the better approach?

How long does it take for supporting docs to be shipped back?

5/22: Application sent with expedite fee + faster shipping
6/3: Approved
6/5: Received passport book
6/8: Received passport card

Book and card were shipped out of Arkansas printing facility while the application has gone to New Orleans processing center. When I called the helpline, they said supporting docs haven’t been shipped back yet.

Can y’all shed light on how long does it usually take for the supporting docs to be shipped back since mine contains the naturalization certificate and it’s important that it is safely returned.

US Passport Timeline Question

Submitted the application for my first US passport with naturalization certification on 5/22 at our district county clerk office and paid both expedited/shipping fees. The office personnel told me it'd be sent out on 5/26 given the memorial day weekend but might take several days for it to get to the processing center, 2-3 weeks for the actual process and to be shipped back.

I do have international travel coming up on 6/22 but the agent didn't let me include travel dates in the app since I haven't booked my flights yet (I was planning to book once the app is submitted). Is there a way I can get my passport in time?

Folks who have a day job and are into MT for fitness/hobby or just to learn self defense but not necessarily compete or do this for a living, how many hours/week do you train?

Do y’all club MT training with any other forms like BJJ/MMA/Weight Training or just MT alone? If yes, what does your split look like?

I’d like to hear from folks who have younger kids and how you manage time between work/parenting/training

My local gym mentioned it’s $200/month and we’re not one of those cities with high Cost of living. I feel it’s a bit on the higher end but wanted to know if this has been the norm in most places?
