Pediatricians,Are you happy with your speciality? Also why is paediatrics a lesser paid speciality in the US? What are the pros and cons of this speciality in your opinion? What kind of personalities do you think would make a good fit for paediatrics? How was/is residency experience?

No,I'm not missing out on anything.I'm actually building my life to become something I've always dreamt of,which is a privilege I'm so grateful for.

Some people like to take life easy and some do not want that. Both are perfectly fine. Whatever floats your boat.

The problem is when someone tries to tell you how you should live your life especially when you aren't bothering anyone or being an annoyance by living life your way.

Whenever I set a target for myself or when I have an exam to face,I get focused. I genuinely enjoy the grind even if I do complain about it from time to time.

No one has ever forced or expected that I study further or work and I'm studying/working entirely because I want to.

Just because I spend my day studying and working doesn't mean I'm leading a pitiful life. Please stop with the fake concern, it's so patronizing and it's not a good look.

I like chasing my goals. It gives me a high that is unmatched.

The only thing that matters to me is my seniors/professors have a good opinion of me and I do well on my exams. I've never felt the need to look for validation from random strangers by "acting smart".

So no, I don't need to go out and touch grass. What is actually necessary here is people stay in their own lanes and stop judging others who may like working hard on their career and goals.

Why are some IMG not able match despite everything looking good in theory ? I hear of folks will great step score, step 3 done, research experience,USCE done and yet they are unmatched. What gives?

Bootcamp or BnB or Kaplan to study from?

For context,I'm a graduate who passed out of med school 3 years ago and I'm not really in touch with the basic science which are the subjects that are tested in Step 1.

Should I go through the lectures from BnB/Bootcamp/Kaplan?

Is there a YouTube channel or any other source which explains the whole process of USMLE,as in giving information about the timelines, application process and documents necessary?

I'm looking for a concise information source with information about how to go about the registration process.

How does one get started with research, posters and publications? Can you get involved in these if you live outside the US? How important are they?

Also, are they a necessity for all specialities? Say I'm looking for peads, will research, posters, publications be necessary to get noticed in the match? Or is it more important for people aiming to get into IM?

How much time in advance should I apply for B1/B2 visa to visit the US? I'm hearing there's a waiting period of atleast a year to schedule an interview.

Kalai vanakkam makkale 🙏.

I have a valid passport and past travel history to the US but that was when I was a few months old baby.

Question about the financial aspect of the usmle pathway. Approximately what should be the budget required to pay for all the various expenses incurred?

I'm guessing we'll have to pay exam fees, we'll have to pay for study apps, visa and travel expenses etc.

I'm guessing that going to the US for electives/observerships and staying there for few months is probably the most expensive part of the whole thing? Also some USCE are paid ones??

What should be my approx budget?

I understand that this is a highly subjective question and costs may vary a lot but I'm looking for a rough idea of the expenses incurred in this path.

Matching with YOG > 4. How realistic is this when you are a visa requiring IMG and don't have connections? Also how impactful are observerships? Do they actually count as meaningful USCE?

I'm looking to get into peads/IM. I was thinking psych too but I'm told that it's become very competitive these days.

Hello,I'm a post intern tentatively planning on taking step 1 in the beginning of 2027. Is anyone else also thinking of taking step 1 in the similar time?

I'm looking for a study partner or even a group of us who can plan our prep and discuss questions so that we keep each other on track. I'm a visa requiring img interested in peads/IM.
