Solo travelers in Vietnam, how do you get good photos of yourself?

I’m curious how people handle this when traveling alone around Vietnam, especially in busy places like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, or Hoi An.

Selfies are fine, but sometimes you actually want a proper photo with the place in the background. 😅 I know you can ask someone nearby, but I’m not always comfortable unlocking my phone and handing it to a stranger.

For those who’ve traveled Vietnam solo, what worked best for you?

Tripod? Asking another traveler? Finding someone with a camera? Or do you just accept that 90% of your camera roll will be scenery? 😂

Would love to hear any tricks that actually worked.

Would you use an app that lets another traveler nearby take your photo without handing them your phone?

After traveling alone for a while, getting photos of yourself can become surprisingly annoying. You either rely on selfies, carry a tripod, or ask someone nearby and hand them your phone.

I’m helping with an app called TPOP that’s trying a different approach.

The idea is community photography. As more people around you use TPOP, you’ll be able to request a photo and someone nearby can take it for you.

For now, there’s a QR option that lets someone take your photo without you having to hand over your phone.

I’m curious what long-term travelers think about the idea. Would you actually use something like this on the road? And what would make you trust or not trust it?

Not trying to turn this into an ad. I’m genuinely interested in whether this solves a real problem for people who spend a lot of time traveling.

What’s the worst photo a stranger has taken for you while traveling? 😂

>You find the perfect spot, ask someone nearby to take a quick photo, hand them your phone, and somehow get it back with 10 pictures where you’re blurry, tiny, or half the landmark is missing. 😂
>
>I’ve always wondered if everyone has experienced this while traveling.
>
>What’s the funniest or worst photo someone has taken for you? And do you usually ask them to try again or just say “thank you” and walk away? 😭

Solo travelers in China, how do you usually get photos of yourself at tourist spots?

I’m curious how people traveling solo in China handle photos, especially at busy places and major landmarks.

Selfies are easy enough, but sometimes you want a proper photo that actually shows you and the location. Carrying a tripod around all day doesn’t seem very convenient either.

If you’re traveling alone, do you usually ask another tourist or a local to take your photo? And have you generally felt comfortable handing your phone to someone you don’t know?

Would love to hear what has worked best for people who’ve traveled solo around China.

Solo travelers in India, what do you do when you find the perfect photo spot but you’re alone? 😅

This happens to me whenever I’m traveling solo, I’ll find an amazing view or landmark and immediately think, “I need a photo here”… then remember there’s nobody with me to take it. 😂

Selfies are okay, but sometimes you want a proper full photo with the place in the background. I don’t really want to carry a tripod everywhere either.

What do you usually do in that situation? Ask another traveler nearby, find someone who looks good with a camera, use a timer, or just skip the photo?

Would love to hear what works for people who travel solo often around India.

How do you make sure you’re actually in your own solo travel photos? 😂

I love taking photos when I travel, but I’ve noticed that when you’re alone it’s really easy to come home with hundreds of beautiful photos of the places you visited… and barely any of yourself actually there. 😅

I don’t mind selfies, but sometimes I want a proper photo that captures the whole moment and location. I also don’t love the idea of carrying a tripod around everywhere.

For those who travel solo regularly, what’s your go-to solution? Do you ask other travelers to take your photo, use a timer, bring a small tripod, or have some other trick that works?

I’d love to know what you’ve found easiest while traveling alone.

How do you get good travel photos when you’re exploring alone?

One thing I didn’t really think about before solo travel was how hard it can be to actually get nice photos of yourself along the way.

I’m comfortable taking selfies, but sometimes I want a proper photo that captures both me and the place. Carrying a tripod everywhere doesn’t sound ideal, and handing my phone to a complete stranger can make me a little hesitant depending on where I am.

For women who travel solo regularly, how do you handle this? Do you look for another female traveler or couple to ask, use a tripod/timer, or have another method that works for you?

Would love to hear what you’ve found easiest and most comfortable while traveling alone.

Sa mga mahilig gumala solo, paano kayo nakakakuha ng magandang photos niyo? 😅

Masaya naman gumala mag-isa kasi hawak mo oras mo and you can go anywhere you want, pero isa talaga sa struggle ko is getting good photos. 😂

What’s the most practical way to get good photos of yourself when traveling solo?

I’m trying to figure out the best setup for taking photos when traveling alone. I’d like to have actual photos of myself at the places I visit instead of coming home with mostly scenery and selfies.

A tripod seems like the obvious solution, but I’m not sure I want to carry one around all day, especially in crowded tourist areas. Asking another traveler works, but the results can be pretty hit or miss.

For experienced solo travelers, what has worked best for you? Do you carry a small tripod, ask people nearby, use a timer/remote, or have another method you’d recommend?

I’m looking for something simple that I could realistically use throughout a trip without carrying much extra gear.

Long-term travelers, how do you make sure you actually get photos of yourself along the way?

When you’re traveling for weeks or months, you end up documenting so many places, meals, views, and random moments but if you’re traveling alone, it feels surprisingly easy to end up with barely any good photos of yourself.

I wouldn’t want to carry a tripod everywhere for months, and constantly asking strangers to take photos can get a little awkward.

For people who travel long-term, what’s your usual approach? Do you ask other travelers you meet, use a timer or tripod, or just stop worrying about being in the photos after a while? 😅

I’m curious what actually works when solo travel becomes your normal lifestyle rather than just a short vacation.

Solo travelers, how do you make sure you actually come home with good photos of yourself? 😂

I always end up taking hundreds of photos of the places I visit, the food, and the views, but somehow barely any good photos of myself. 😂

Selfies are fine, but they don’t always capture the place properly, and carrying a tripod everywhere can be inconvenient.

For those who travel solo often, what’s your usual strategy? Do you ask people nearby, use a timer, bring some kind of camera setup, or have another trick that works well?

Do you actually trust strangers with your phone when asking them to take your photo while traveling?

I’ve always wondered how other travelers handle this. You find a great spot, want a photo that isn’t a selfie, and the easiest option is asking a stranger.

But then you’re handing someone an expensive unlocked phone and hoping they don’t drop it or walk away with it 😅

Do you still hand your phone to strangers, or do you have another way?
