First keyboard purchase, ever.

Never had my own computer growing up and have always just used the keyboard on my laptops since college. I did have a keyboard here at the setup for a few years, but it was my daughter’s DustSilver D84 that she used strictly for gaming.

I couldn’t be happier to say that finally, at 40, I have a keyboard of my own.

Will an MX Master 4 run smoothly on MacBook Pro M3 Max in clamshell mode displaying on LG 240hz monitor?

My setup is a frankenstein of work and gaming, with a PS5 Pro and MBP M3 Max connected to LG OLED 27gr95qe.

I don't use mnk to game, but my daughter does, and has her own gaming mouse. I'm trying to rebuild my setup as my own, with my own mouse, that will be used for work, and want to pickup a more productivity focused mouse vs a gaming mouse.

That said, I've been reading about the 125 polling rate on the master 4 being an issue on higher refresh rate monitors. Will this be an issue while using my MBP in clamshell mode? Or does that not matter because most of my use case is probably capped at 60/120hz anyway?

And if you're thinking "this guy has a MBP and doesn't know the answer to this question...", yes, you are right, and I'm sorry.

Thanks!

PLEASE HELP a Desperate Dad

I've looked everywhere online. I've scoured Reddit. And I know it's come up a few times, but I haven't found anything despite trying numerous solutions that have helped other gamers.

I don't play, but my daughter has for 6 years, since she was 7. Last year, this popped up and we hoped it was just a Microsoft x Playstation issue, and were hopeful it would resolve on its own after attempting all the solutions online failed.

Fast forward 1 year later, and she's now stuck at home for a year due to medical reasons, where this would really, really help her out... But we can't find a solution.

I've even conceded that maybe her Minecraft account is gone, and we should just start over, only to find out that YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE MICROSOFT ACCOUNT LINKED TO PSN, EVER. WTH is that???

We can't login AND we can't create a new one? So..... does she just never play on our PSN account every again??

Please, I'm just a desperate dad who wants to make this work for his daughter who is stuck at home for a year due to medical reasons. I'm also sorry if this is an annoying topic or if it's posted in the wrong subreddit.

How do you decide whether or not to go with a single or dual monitor setup when it’s not necessary, but is nice to have?

Basically title question.

I do not NEED dual monitors for productivity. This is primarily a gaming setup. But I really do enjoy having the MacBook Pro as a secondary screen to just be available as I’m gaming (youtube, discord, guides, random whatever).

But since space is a premium on a 48x30 desk, I like the simplicity of the single monitor, which allows me to spread out the speakers a little more and rotate random personal items on the left side to fill out that space.

I guess I’m not so much asking what I should do specifically, as I understand that it’s ultimately my decision, I’m more asking how you ladies and gentlemen have made the decision.

I do appreciate any opinions. Thanks!

(Pic 1 is how I currently have it setup. Pic 2 is how I had it setup a few weeks ago)

Edit: Thank you to everyone who has commented. It’s interesting to hear everyone’s solutions and thought process for their own setups. I’m still undecided, as I’ve felt like I was “done” with my setup so many times, only to wake up the very next day looking for things to add. I guess that’s just somewhat the nature of it. I didn’t care about my setup for years, had cables everywhere, junk everywhere, but now that I do care, I can’t stop thinking about how to make it “better”. Thanks again!

After sitting in my backlog for some time, I put about 2 hours into this game…

…and I am completely blown away.

Nothing of late has hooked me as quickly as this and I think I’m going to take my time to really enjoy this.

Does anybody collect physical, but emulate to play?

I’ve been wanting to get into retrogaming for years and finally bought a PS2 last month. I have picked up 3 physical games (and have Shadow of the Colossus on the way). At the same time, I also started dabbling into emulating.

Initially, I really wanted to game strictly on the PS2, but there are definitely some points of friction associated with that — mainly no room for a CRT, but also the worry about how long my PS2 will last. Tray is smooth, discs read quickly, with no issues so far, but it is a 25 year old console…

Emulating offers better resolution, faster loads, and save states, which is such a game changer. If my wife or kids need me, save states make that transition smooth and immediate. No stress to find a save point.

But a big part of me wants to be a purist and experience OG hardware. Plus I truly am a fan of physical media. I would still want to buy physical copies even if I plan to primarily emulate.

Does anybody else enjoy having a PS2 and picking up physical games, even if you primarily emulate to play?

2022 PS5 Setup vs 2026 PS5 Pro Setup

2022 is the first picture I can find where I cared enough to take a picture of my setup. I had just gotten some LED light strips to stick on the back of my BenQ Mobiuz monitor and thought it was the coolest thing ever, even though not a single cable in sight was managed lol.

Over the next 4 years, I added little things here and there to really turn this little corner of the house into something that just makes me happy to look at.

I know this isn’t much compared to what some you fellas and ladies have to show, but I’m proud of it.

After years of wanting to pick-up a PS2, I finally caved…

I also have GTA:SA and Simpsons Hit and Run on the way.

Hoping this is the start of a beautiful journey!

Please help me arrange my setup.

Option #1 - S2 and PS5 Pro setup

Option #2 - PS5 Pro with controller tower and air purifier on left, dualsense edge and games on right

Option #3 - same as #2 but air purifier directly next to PS5 Pro

Option #4 - no dualsense edge on right, air purifier on the left

Basically I’m undecided on 2 major things:

  1. Should this setup include the Switch 2 at all? (I realize this is more preference based…)

  2. Does the air purifier location make a huge difference in relation to proximity to PS5?

Any opinions are welcomed!

What is the best game in my recently played?

Also, which one is the worst?

Obviously, this is just everyone’s opinion and in the spirit of fun.

Getting older meant switching over to more single player titles. Almost exactly one year ago, this row was literally just Warzone, Marvel Rivals, and Fortnite. It’s been an amazing experience opening myself up to these titles and loving genre’s that I never imagined I would even give a chance.

Just rolled credits a few minutes ago.

>!Pragmata is a reminder that a story can be simple, straightforward, yet can still deeply connect emotionally. No crazy plot twist. No last second miracle. Immersive and engaging gameplay that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Heartfelt, painful, but still beautiful in the end.!<

In the last year I’ve completed Ghost of Tsushima, Expedition 33, Final Fantasy X, Persona 5 Royale, and now Pragmata. What a run.

Gaming can truly be such an amazing experience.
