First Flying Pet

Jet pack weak, environmental protection limited, it took me a long time to get a hold of this guy, and I was so very excited - a flying mount(!) in a space exploration game(?!) Whut?!?!?!

I was on top of the world 😁. I love this game, but I'm a little jaded by comparison to my former self. 🤣

Post your flyers - modest or amazing. Show your pets some love!

Mergers and Acquisitions

Several finds. It occurred to me that there may soon be fixes for these collisions - that perhaps Cosmos will make adjustments to systems that could prevent future or even unmake present merged planets. I will continue to find and record these merged planets for as long as the system allows them to come into existence, but I thought I'd better drill down on my method of finding them in case others want to do so as well:

Look to Dissonant systems with 5-6 planets, 6 planets being best. Look for purple and yellow systems, purple seeming best. Look for high conflict and high economy, high conflict being best. Outlaw is also high conflict and produces some collisions, but perhaps not as many as this final aggregation of systemic traits:

6-planet, Purple, Dissonant, 3-Star Economy, and High Conflict are not by any means guaranteed to produce collisions, but chances are greatly increased.

I found my first after 6,000 hours and another 2 in the 6 months that followed, and now 10 more in a bit under a week.

Andre_Vandal has posted a compendium of nearly 200 hundred of these collided pairs from scores of contributors; Most notably himself, with perhaps 30-40 discoveries, and jocafa with 13. I too have 13 under my belt, so far.

With that understanding, your humble narrator, may rank comfortably in the top 3 for published merged planet discoveries. It will be interesting to see if these game mechanics change and if merged planets can still be discovered, or even remain in existence, after the Cosmos update(s). As always, use caution around these things, and Happy Hunting! Here are several pics I had handy 🙂

Almost didn't see that this planet was actually a collision

This is in Calypso (Thanks for the 2nd set of eyes u/absurdivore !). I expect gravity could be very challenging here, but I didn't land to check it out yet.

Monday Fun-Day?

How about a weekly event where we post pics and members vote (with upvotes) on the weekly winner?

Any interest? Would we want to award the winner a special user flair or some such thing? Just spitballing here. Feel free to disagree, add an insight or observation, or suggest new content for engagement.

Welcome to MP5

This is the 5th collision in a series of ever increasingly unoriginally named systems, featuring merged planets, that I have discovered. 😎 Please be careful.

Ever Wanted to Portal to the Ocean Floor on a Deep Water World of a Collided Planet?

Welp, now you can! And you can summon your Starship to a submerged landing pad to blast you to the surface or teleport/portal out if it seems too dicey.

Hilbert Dimension if you're feeling froggy.

Don't worry, it's not too close to the collision zone. Safe as houses. Houses drowned in a briney, scalding caldron 150°F, in the crushing black of disorienting, deadly, depths. Peaceful. Impossible to hear the crashing waves a mile above your watery grave. Safe as charnel houses.

What were your first few gaming platforms - computers, consoles, etc.?

I played on arcade style stand-up games in 7-11 stores, gas stations, arcades and the like before I ever played at home. Then Atari and Intellivision. Eventually a bit of basic programming on Atari 800 and TRS-80 allowed us to start making simple games like Snakes and rudimentary text based choose-your-own-ending rpg stories.

Ultimate Infinity Pool

Going to go play in the dangerous waters (merged planet collision border), after I back up my main save 😅😉

Hilbert Dimension: MP4 - Metallurgic Planet Meets Water World (Merged Planets #4)

As always, be careful. Gravity can be unpredictable and it is possible to get trapped in a save wherein you cannot escape the chaos of competing gravitational forces. Jetpacks can become useless. Foretold is forewarned ☠️

This is only the 4th such system I have knowingly found. Merged Planets, as a rule of thumb, are relatively rare, or at least that is what I believed when I found my first pair after several thousand hours without having ever discovered them on my own.

How many have you catalogued? Have you ever found a planet nearly entirely engulfed by the other planet? Share them here and tell us your stories.

Sues(s)? Beta - No Paradise

I do not like this "paradise"

with super storms in no ways nice

and whisper eggs and horror screams

this "paradise" will haunt your dreams

I do not like this "paradise"

with Titan Worms to fill the skies

and Many Mouths from under deep

how would you, could you, ever sleep?

I do not like this "paradise"

Infested so with monster lice

and no good food with no good spice

I've said it once, then twice, now thrice!

Forget this blasted "Paradise"!

I'm headed off to someplace Nice.
