Help me decide between two cards for local AI messin':

• More common: AMD Radeon Pro card (RDNA 2.0) with 32GB of VRAM
  • Pros: Common, supported by a lot of software. More VRAM, cheaper.
  • Cons: Older architecture. Will likely sound like a jet engine strapping a fan to it.
• Less common: Tenstorrent p100a with 28GB of VRAM
  • Pros: New, mission dedicated local LLM card. Good vram, interesting alternative design. Quieter. Open Source.
  • Cons: New, less developed software ecosystem. Expensive.

The Tenstorrent card is a *LOT* more, but a lot more interesting to me. The Radeon Pro is more common and likely supported by more software... but a bit more boring.

Don't mention NVIDIA. I run Linux and NVIDIA cards always suck to use.

Looking for something that will be useful for 3-5 more years. No worried about graphics use.. this is a dedicated AI LLM card. (I currently have an RX 6700 XT which is fine... but most models don't fit in 12GB)

Last 4-5 months with BPD wife have been awesome. We have been getting along, only minor disagreements. We both are putting the work in.

Everything has been good. Until this last weekend.. ffs.

* BPD wife started attacks for random shit.
* I handled them pretty well, got a little frustrated but stepped away with a specific return plan. Followed the plans. Came back after 3 hours.. everything fine. We're good,

* Yesterday morning i'm a little grumpy, only leak a little of it. Sudden rapid extreme escalation by partner to screaming. I'm drained, I give in and start throwing attacks back. Screaming intensifies by everyone. I say some dumb shit. I step away communicating when I'll be back knowing things are not productive and escalating too quickly. She chases my car down the driveway 👺 I see her on our outside camera yelling at it and threatening to smash all my stuff with a shovel.
* After 3-4 hours she's still angry, but kind of just disassociating.. headache, etc.
* I try to let shit go, and be nice (and I genuinely am)

* This morning I get up thinking we're past it, and she's acting weird.. talking meekly like i'm going to beat her. (never have I ever btw)

* After talking a bit (just gently digging where her head is), rapid escalation begins to picks up again and I step away.

JFC i'm on day 3 of this. We have important shit to do and I can't get her "reset". I shouldn't have let her push my buttons, but she hit too many to quick to step out of the anger.

I'm deep in the "remember everything you said, and ignore the fact that I screamed at you for 2 days before you said dumb shit" end of the pool.

So, I play with Reticulum over 914.875Mhz. I know antenna ground planes are important (I've had many hams preach it to me lol), but I've also read that ground planes are only needed on 1/4 wave antennas.

Just spot checking my logic here.. would a 1/2 wave antenna offer a stronger signal without the need of a ground plane? (Power is 22-24dBm)

I know hams operate at much lower frequencies so 1/4 wave antennas are a lot more practical for most length wise... (thus Hams preaching ground planes).

Keeping it short. The dad not paying child support, amount he has to pay per month is tiny (< $300). He doesn't have a lot to even take.

OGA never did anything helpful to collect it over the years when Mom needed it.

Mom found it much simpler to use 0% child support and waiving the existing arrearage as motivation to agree to drop the residency restriction of the child (to within the state of Texas vs a school district in a rough area). We bring the kid to the dad once a month ~200 miles away for the weekend during the school year.

We signed the agreement with the dad for court, OGA forced us to drop the arrearage forgiveness from the new simple custody agreement before they signed.

He's at 8k owed. 10k is a felony. We would much rather have him paying nothing and in his kids life, than him getting arrested and not being there at all... But the OGA is standing in the way of it.

Would a notorized letter from the mom forgiving past arrearage help? Is him paying us through the OGA and us sending it back once received illegal?

It feels weird that the OGA has so much power when even the other parent doesn't want or need the help.

Anyone else seeing the XPS 15 9520 laptops not powering on? This has been a long ongoing issue.

* Laptop won't power on
* Plug into a USB C PD adapter or Thunderbolt Dock.
* Nothing happens.
* Unplug, laptop turns on.

Multiple docks tried. Multiple cables tried (all USB PD 100w or higher, or USB 4). I replaced the battery today thinking it was a bad battery... same issue persists.

It feels like the issue has gotten worse recently... now it turns on after being plugged in for 5-10 minutes then being unplugged.

Anyone have any experience installing an aftermarket brake controller? Not sure what signal to use for the Stop Lamp switch. 2023 Dodge Durango v6 without trailer package.

I feel like the Brake Pedal Travel Sensor pin 2 is the right place to tap into... but i've also read the Brake Pedal Travel sensor is a potentiometer and not a switch.

Slapping a NMO mount on my electric vehicle for 900Mhz LoRA stuff (I know, NMO is kind of weird for 900Mhz, but i'm rural and need better range without sticking my arm out the window, and might ham someday so wanted a generic mount)

I know generally the best configuration is the antenna is grounded to the body of the vehicle, but with all the high frequency noise from the EV... is this still a good idea?
