Is there a Volca Sample isolator audio in mod?

I'm curious if such a mod exists, but I couldn't find one on google. I'm surprised it doesn't exist on stock hardware, so people could run their entire DAWless setup through the isolators.

Would such a mod be useful, or would just using a small 3-band EQ effects box be easier?

is it possible to not send keyboard velocity over MIDI?

I'm using the MiniFreak as a MIDI controller with a few different synths, but I would like velocity detection turned off. I know how to do that for the MiniFreak's internal synthesizer, but not through MIDI. I've checked the manual, but it's possible I've missed something.

People who mess with other people's stuff, then get all righteous about it

I genuinely do not understand these people. If its my thing in my space and it's not an active danger then don't mess with it without asking! Don't pull shit off the screens, don't throw out clothes you don't like, don't "tidy things up" when there's no mess in the first place (or even if there is a mess, it's not your goddamn space!), don't mess with other people's things! They aren't yours!

This should be a simple boundary to enforce but people break it all the time! And then when you confront them about it, they act all holier-than-thou with some bullshit reasoning to justify their actions. "I don't like it when you leave that protective layer on screens" or "your desk was too cluttered, you can't even use it" or some other nonsense.

There are some reasonable exceptions y'all will probably come up with in the comments. But as a general guideline, don't mess around with other people's things.

new hat! (plus bonus patch)

I got a new hat and decided to use my patch/button stockpile to decorate it! I have a few spots I'd like to put stuff so I marked this as WIP, but it's basically done.

I also made a Screamers patch yesterday, but it turned out a little rough so I'm not sure I want to use it.

Looking to use a drum/keyboard amp for multiple instruments simultaneously (warning: potentially extremely cursed)

I just started a synthpunk band, but I'm the synth player and I don't know much about amps or instrument/line/mic levels or impedance and all that. I have a question regarding amplifying our setup. The bassist and guitarist both have their own amps and I've been getting away with a cheap guitar practice amp + playing higher octaves , but the vocalist and drummer (on an e-kit) need some kind of amplification for practice jams. I would assume we'd run our signals straight to the PA mixer at shows (if we even get that far lol), but I could me mistaken.

Someone is selling a Coolmusic DM20 drum/keyboard amp locally for cheap. This amp has only one mono 1/4 inch input. I also have a USB-powered line-level mixer. I would like to run my synth, the e-drum kit, and the vocalist's microphone through the mixer into the DM20. Would this cause any problems for the amp, such as damage or sounding bad?

Here's some more details on the instruments I'd like to run through the mixer into the amp at the same time (here's where it gets potentially cursed):

  • Arturia Minifreak
  • Korg Monotron Delay
  • Alesis drum kit controlling a Zoom MRT3 via MIDI, through a Zoom MS70CDR for effects
  • Peavy PVI2 through a passive XLR to unbalanced mono 1/4 inch adapter, then through some analog effects pedals (I forget which exactly). I also have a Sonicake Pocket Master that can function as a boost pedal to increase the volume of the signal if needed.

I know that this is a strange combo of impedance and signal levels but I don't really understand how that would actually interact with the amplifier. Could this setup be safely implemented?

We plan on getting individual amps for each of us at some point but we're all kinda poor and can't afford 2-3 new amps at the moment.

Just starting out my first hat

I only have two patches and the rings on so far. You can see where I originally put the rings, but I had to move them because they kept clacking into my glasses lmao. The last picture is some patches I have that I want to put on (yes I know Justice isn't punk, the duo is very influential to me musically) but I don't have the right coloured thread on hand, or the patches are iron-on.

I sewed/pierced these on my work break, using my pocket knife to do the piercing (hence why they look so nasty oops)

I like a lot of hardcore bands and their music, but my experience with the genre has been entirely through the internet. I managed to recruit a few people to start a band, with one member having far more experience in the community than I. Two of us have tried to start bands but they never took off, and the other two of us (including me) have never been in a band before.

I'm wondering if y'all have any advice (besides "go to more shows," I plan on doing just that) for a newbie to the scene and stage? Stuff like how to deal with crowd-killers, etiquette things I probably don't know about, or any other things I should know.

Looking to try out a certain e-drum kit before purchase

Hey, folks. I'm in a new band and we plan on using an electronic drum kit so we can run the drums through effects and whatnot. I'm considering buying and upgrading the Lekato CPD-1000 kit for ease of transport compared to a full set. (There's a guy on youtube that packs it so small we could *bike* it places if need be) However, our drummer would like to know how it feels to play before we put the money down to buy it. Does anyone in Winnipeg happen to have this set and would be willing to let us try it out?

Here's the link to the video, for those curious. https://youtu.be/EAiHHEfXa-E?list=RDEAiHHEfXa-E

It's similar to the fonts you'd find in vintage camcorders, but it's slightly thicker and higher resolution I think. Something to note is how the period is square, but the dot under the exclamation point is rounded. Bonus points awarded to someone who can identify the text generator that was used.

I recently had the idea to use my QY70's preset patterns as a backing track generator for my keyboard practice. Since I can change the key and the tempo easily, it means I can drill whatever scale/chord/etc I want on my MiniFreak at whatever tempo I want. (Yes, I know the mini keys on the MiniFreak aren't the best keyboard but its the synth I want to get better at) I can even mute individual instruments as I see fit.

A friend of mine wants to get into synths, so I have a few questions:

  1. Is there any software I can recommend to him that can do something similar to the QY70 in this respect? As in playing pre-sequenced music with variable key and tempo?
  2. If not, what about drum-only tracks with variable tempo?
  3. What sub 900 CAD synth should I recommend he gets? I'm torn between the MiniFreak and MiniBrute. The MiniFreak is a great polyphonic velocity sensitive jack-of-all-trades that he can make a bunch of sounds on, but it feels like throwing him in the deep end. It's also at the absolute top of the budget. The MiniBrute is perfect to introduce him to the basics of synthesis since everything is right there as a knob or fader, but it being monophonic seems like throwing him in the kiddie pool, he would eventually move past it and require more gear.

Any other synth suggestions are welcome, but from my discussions he would prefer to go DAWless because computers can be distraction hell for people with ADHD.

Thanks for reading and for any answers you give.

EDIT: I just remembered the Korg Volca Keys/Behringer JT Mini/Phara-O Mini exist, so recommendations for good MIDI controllers w/ 5-pin MIDI to connect to them would also be really appreciated!

I'm starting a hardcore synthpunk band with some friends and we had the idea to add some artificiality by using one member's e-kit (Alesis Turbo mesh kit) to play some more unreal sounds from a drum machine (Zoom RT-223 something, Boss DR-660, or Yamaha QY70's drum kits) via MIDI and I was wondering if this would be possible at all to do? My experience with MIDI routing consists solely of getting several synths/drum machines to all start playing simultaneously, and using my Yamaha SHS-10 to control my Roland S-1. From what I can tell from the manual of the Turbo and DR-660 this should be possible, but I'm not sure how to be sure that a given pad plays the intended sound, and/or if the pressure sensitivity would translate to the drum sound changing in volume or whatever?

Advice/ideas/thoughts are appreciated.
