Lighting wasnt perfect. But did get a close look at the Painted bunting at Dix field.
Go before 7:30 AM or after 7 pm, due to the ongoing heat wave
La Fortuna as base.
1 day trip – Monteverde Cloud Forest
1 day trip – Cano Negro Hanging bridges
2 days around La Fortuna to cover the below
Arenal Observatory (morning for birding)
Waterfalls
Hot springs
Volcano
Coffee and Chocolate
Is this a good itinerary. Not going to the beaches.
Lot of drama this week as the brush pile which was a good habitat at Dix field for all the birds was ground to mulch , apparently due to fire concerns.
Looks like birds are adapting, I clicked this Indigo bunting fairly close as they perched of the available small bush cover.

It was quite a blast in 2021 when couple of Roseated spoonbills hung around Lake crabtree. Not satisfied with taking a pic from the walkway bridge, I went on a kayak (Post covid, everyone had a kayak) with my son and got to eye level to click this shot. One that told me, I can do this, as a bird photographer. r/TriangleBirding

the buntings (painted and indigo) and the grosbeaks are giving great looks at Dix Park
Started looking at them at different spots around 6:30. Around 8, they all just disappeared. Turns out they were all spying on me. Right above.

Last years pictures of a Great horned owl juvenile we were following. Different perches same afternoon
The in-every-pond Mallard is much overlooked for clicks. But when nothing else shows up, In Mallard We Trust - especially in spring
