Swallow tailed kites - Raleigh

Two of these beautiful Swallow tailed Kites have made a rare appearance in East Raleigh, where they are hanging around with about a dozen Mississippi Kites.

Dix park did it again.

Everyone knows about sunflowers, but there is a zinnia field in dix hill which is looking absolutely gorgeous. Downhill from daddy troll. You will enter through Boyland entrance from western.

Dix sunflower field is abloom.

Do visit the Dorothea dix sunflower field in the next couple of weeks. Wonderful 5 acre field. One advice. go around 7 am or 7 pm. There is no shade and it is hot.

Right now go for the flowers. In couple of weeks, you can go back for the birds as the fiches and buntings come in to feed on the sunflowers.

Another fact is that future plan holds for this to be converted to a soccer field, so enjoy it while it lasts.
