[Tenant US-CT] I think our landlord is retaliating for reporting criminal activity.

For like 3 months we dealt with a literal brothel next door and we live in a nice area in a nice town. The landlord just didn't do his homework about a spa moving into a mixed use property where no one else has that kind of business. Who puts a spa in a commercial park well away from the Boston Post Road? Like a mile away.

Anyway we got the police involved because the guys coming around were harassing my wife and next door neighbor neither of which need to deal with men looking for those kinds of services from anyone breathing. It took a few weeks, but they moved out before the police could make an arrest.

We could have sued the landlord over it or broken our lease and we did neither, but now we're looking into both. Today when I went to go out the camera I had set up on the front, not drilled, I made no modifications it was clipped on, was one the floor at our back door. We have an interior camera facing out that caught the super on video doing it. And he took the micro SD card. Even if they had an issue with that one camera facing where the spa was taking the SD card is suspicious. I texted the super and he ignored me, of course, and I sent the clip to the neighbor who said that's the super.

Now my wife wants to move. We pay our rent on time, we do not party, we're not pot smokers, I work at the post office, she's a medical assistant. We want to have peace and quiet and no drama when we come home.

She wanted me to call the police, so I did and made a report and shard the video evidence. The officer is going to follow up tomorrow and get back to me. This is actually the second time they messed with my camera, the first time was to just point it in a different direction. But that was weird because that time it was aimed out from our front door which faces the side not directly out TO an outward face.

So now that they are retaliating for us getting a brothel closed, now we are looking into other options. We can't just move, we don't have landlord money. Moving takes months of prep and without cause we would be on the hook for the entire lease which would mean we'd have to go to housing court to do it. I'm confident we would win, but it's a hassle. All we wanted was to be left alone and not deal with this stuff.

TL;DR Landlord is harassing us for reporting illegal activity.

When a car is occupying the lane a trucker wants to occupy, why don't they signal the lane change?

My wife tells me on the way to work today a trucker just changed lanes into hers with no warning. She drives a Tucson which should be big enough to see. And it was during the day. She had to floor it to avoid an accident.

I have had this happen a few times to me. A lot, actually I drove for Uber for 8 years. Most cars I drive have the ability to get out of the way before the truck is even in the lane like the WRX I had, but why not just signal, I'm happy to slow down and let you in.

On the highway when I'm changing into a lane a truck is in I don't just signal and move over, I signal and give them a good 5 seconds to see I am about to and make sure I'm like 100 feet up before I do. And always faster than they are driving so they don't have to slow down for me.

My coworker will not stop trying to cheer me up every morning.

I work at the post office as a VMF clerk doing vehicle repair invoices all day. I get in at 5am, he gets in at 6am. Every day when he comes in he will say good morning and then a second time if my response isn't happy enough and say stuff like, "What's wrong?" Nothing, let me call you back at 1am and we can talk about it.

I'm a night owl, always have been, and had many jobs where I worked till like 11pm and was up till around 3am. Nine months into this job and I am still not used to being up early. Morning people or not no one else does this here, just him. Morning people who do this are obnoxious. He has a little office I have a cubicle thing near that spot. I have gotten to the point where I am doing soft revenge things like using my bluetooth speakers to play music I know he doesn't like so like Motionless In White. Right now it's Filter. Then he winds up having to shut his office door. lol

But why can't these people realize we are not messing with them late at night to cheer them up, and that, no, being a morning person does not make you better than anyone, and stop trying to cheer people up at 6am?

Should I say something?

My wife (39F) wants me (53M) to do things like grocery shopping on my one day off. How is that fair?

I work Mon-Thur from 5am to 3:30pm, Fri+Sat from 5am to 1:30pm. At USPS as a VMF clerk, I do paperwork for thousands of vehicles to make sure they get repaired, do purchase orders, etc.

She is a medical assistant that works Mon-Fri 9am to 4pm. Granted she has a much longer commute it can easily be an hour each way. She also takes her sister to and from work a few days a week, but it's worked in to on the way to her job or on the way back.

I work much closer to where we live. But she has two full days off a week and most of the time she wants one of those days to herself to "unwind" and not have to go anywhere. I get one day to do that and do not like being asked to go shopping on the day I can sleep late, and do the stuff she does on her day off like watch tv or movies.

Apparently me not breaking up my one day off and suggesting we go one of the other six days when I am out and about anyway makes me irresponsible. Mind you, at home I take care of the feeding of the four cats, the litter box, the trash, the dishes, home repairs, car repairs, vet visits, phone calls to utility companies or insurance, etc. Her sister does the laundry, we cook for ourselves most of the time, but we do share cooking sometimes. My wife handles paying the bills. Like I give her 80% of my paycheck (I have investments and pay for things like our health care, life insurance, internet, etc).

I feel like I am doing enough as it is and deserve my one day off to myself, what do you think?

TL:DR: I work almost 60 hours a week and get one day off and my wife tries making me go out that day.

My (39F) wife says I'm (53M) home too much, but I work more than she does. How is that fair?

I work 5am to 3:30pm Mon-Fri at USPS where I'm the VMF clerk. I handle all the paperwork for thousands of vehicle repairs all day long, and I also work Saturday 5am to 1:30pm. She is a medical assistant at a small doctor's office and works 9 to 4 Mon-Fri.

I make 50% more than she does and have told her if she wants me to keep getting those big checks from overtime that I give her like 80% of on occasion I need to take a Saturday off. She even gets mad if I use annual leave or sick leave. It's harder for her to use it at her job and I think she resents that all I need to do is use the USPS website and take time off if I want to. But I get paid the same amount when I do, so what's the problem?

I keep rewriting this because I'm adding too much. We get along great most of the time, but there are a few areas that need work. I handle all the household stuff except laundry and bill paying. It's a lot of stuff I do daily here after I get back from work. It's not like I'm just playing video games.

I plan to start riding again this week. I got my tow hitch, installed the bike rack last week, I just need the rain to stop. I typically mountain bike between 15 to 30 miles a day which guarantees she'll get home first because I'll be on the trails. I've offered to take her riding, but she's not outdoorsy. I would love the company. Her 26 year old sister rides with me on occasion. She has tons of energy to burn. I bought her a mountain bike that is on the rack right next to mine in my room. My wife wanted an adult trike so we were like, "Great, let's get one." I have a Telluride, if we get one of the folding full-size ones it will fit with just the third row folded, and the other to can go on the bike rack. Family riding would be nice.

TLDR: I work almost twice as much but get blamed for always being home.

Ever report something to OIG? I did today and a coworker thought I maybe shouldn't have.

Without going too much into specifics I found possible fraud. Telling my supervisor wasn't going to cover my bases and now I have whistleblower protection. It's not with another employee if that helps.

Is it normal to get flagged for avideo card purchase?

We have been Prime members since 2013 and spend way too much on Amazon. The other day I ordered an RTX 5070 from Amazon and it cancelled right away. Support said I was flagged for fraud. I submitted my ID and got an email saying I was banned for life from buying video cards from Amazon. That was my first video card purchase from them and we rarely return anything and the few missing items over the years were all really low value like under $20.

Normally I buy that stuff from Newegg, like I did after this happened where I got a better price on the Asus Prime and it came with the new 007 video game.

Why did Google make Gemini for Android Auto so bad?

When I use Gemini in my car there is no way to exit. I can't use any buttons to switch to the radio. End call, star, nothing works, it says that feature in unavailable at this time. I have to unplug the usb cable and plug it back in. Voice commands to exit do not work either. Who came up wit this? Why is it now if I want to ask Gemini something through AA I am stuck in the conversation? If I do it from my phone it works fine, better, actually because I can interrupt which I can't do in he AA version.

2022 Kia Telluride EX | 96560-S9420CDD | Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra | Android Version 16, One UI version 8.5 Why can't I turn off Gemini when I use it?

It's weirdly specific that we need to have all that specific info, but I guess Gemini works differently on every car and every version of the radio and phone so I guess my question is specifically to people with 2022 Kia Telluride Ex's who have a Galaxy S26 Ultra running the same software I am who have the same head unit.

We rarely have sex, it's a whole thing, by rarely I mean maybe once a month if I'm lucky. Part of it could be her ridiculous long commute to and from work, but even when she worked down the street it was sporadic. I work close, but I work 60 hours a week and am always willing.

She says it's not an attraction thing and she still masturbates, and we fool around, but the sex part rarely happens. I have always had a high libido and partners that did, too. So by high I mean at least once a day if not more, once a month sucks. But we've been together 13 years and everything else is great. We have no kids, so it's not that. But lately she makes me feel guilty for wanting to be intimate with her.

And, no, it's not like I'm saying it has to be a specific way, I give her creative control most of the time in the bedroom. She said she probably has paramenopause, but can you self-diagnose that, and if that's the case why make me feel like I'm broken for having the desire to be with my wife?

TL:DR The wife thinks it's weird my penis still works at 53.

We live in a mixed-use complex, commercial and residential, our building used to be storage units but was converted into four 1400 square foot modern apartments. We are the first tenants in this unit. Shortly after we moved in, a business called "Silky Spa Foot Massage" opened up next door in Milford, CT, so you can look it up and reverse search the phone number to see what I mean.

It's honestly a weird place for a foot massage place, it's not like we're near the main road, The Boston Post Road (US Rte 1) is like a mile from us. Down there it would make sense, here there's a school for kids in the back, and about a dozen buildings that have residents, artists, lawyers, and so forth. But we are both busy, my wife is a medical assistant and I am the VMF clerk for USPS in New Haven, so neither one of us noticed anything at first.

Then I started noticing on our Blink cameras: all men. During the day they park several buildings down and walk up, at night they park right outside the front or back. They are never there long, usually 20 minutes or so. Which got me to look the place up, which led me to believe they are selling extra services. My sister-in-law found them on every escort site and some site called Rub Maps, which does not look kosher, but it's paywalled so I have no idea what it says.

I checked with the state: no massage license. There is an LLC, but without a massage license it would be illegal to be providing massages anyway and as far as I can tell the girl in those photos lives there, which is also illegal for a massage business. I first reported it to the local health department and got nowhere. Then I reported it to the local police who did get back to me, but never followed up. I reported it to CT DPH and got nowhere there. DCP and DOL, State Police, and, lastly, the National Human Trafficking Hotline. So far nothing. It feels like no one cares. I even contacted my landlord and probably for liability reasons denied it, and said he knows they are approved he saw the license (liar), and ignored the screenshots I sent of the ads.

My 26 year old sister-in-law was out cleaning the cars yesterday and I had to keep going outside as one creepy guy after another parked near our cars and stared at her. I live with my wife and her sister and I have to worry about them and I am also worried the girl next door is being exploited. The guy that rents the place is there like once a week, presumably to collect the money, but never on a regular basis. He also has out of state plates on his car.

And this is a nice town, and it's a nice area, and we don't want to deal with the customers, or have anyone being abused next door. They also installed soundproofing when they moved in. Who does that for a regular business?

I have two more cameras I am going to put outside that are way better than Blink, solar 360 cameras, and I offered to give the detective any footage I have, and he said he would email me later that day to send him clips, but that was last Thursday, nothing so far.

I need more ideas, can anyone help?

My wife and I moved from Bridgeport, CT to Milford, CT partially to get away from our upstairs neighbors in Bridgeport who partied every night and smoked weed every day (came right through the vents somehow even though we had separate central air), and partially to save to buy a house (we have 10% on $500,000 saved). Thew ne place is brand new, we are the first tenants since they converted commercial space to mixed use. 2 bedrooms upstairs, 1400 square feet, modern everything, $3,000 a month. Overpriced for the area, but we can afford it. My wife is a medical assistant and I am a VMF clerk at the main USPS branch by Yale.

When we moved in of the 4 units in our building (there are like maybe 20 buildings and a small school, and some office buildings), there was only one other tenant. Moving day he was outside smoking a blunt. So we were kind of bummed about that, and his pit bull is frequently off-leash, definitely not psyched about that, the dog is not friendly. But he was two units down so we ignored him. The next tenant to move in has a studio in the back and a dog she leaves alone that barks all the time. I reported that one because it's barking at like 12, 1am, 2am, 3am and I have to be up at 4am every day to go to work.

The last tenant to move in was a foot massage place, which to me was weird like who wants foot massages and this property is just in a weird place for that. Most of the units are artists, designers, solo lawyers, psychologists, etc. But I was like, "Whatever". I'm not super-observant, so I just focused on us. But I started noticing people coming to get foot massages at all hours. All guys and during the day they'd park a few buildings down even though there's space out front, and at night they'd park right outside our door. Always guys, as late as 2am. Who gets a foot massage at 2am?

I look up the address on Google and the pictures do not look like they are doing foot massages. My wife Googles the number and it comes back to like literally 15 pages of escort ads with pictures of the same girl I saw from next door when she dropped off one of our packages one day when it went to the wrong door. So I tell the landlord and he's like, "They have a license I saw them get approved." I told him, "No they don't, I looked up their business and just a general address search on the state website and no licenses for massage were issued there." They do have an LLC and probably passed an inspection by the health department, but that doesn't make them legal for massage, and I told them even if they had a license there's no escort license in CT (I sent him links to the ads).

He actually kept pushing back why would they do that and I'm like human trafficking and money. My wife thinks next January when we go to renew our lease he won't renew ours because we said something. The landlords have another business with terrible reviews, like all the bad things about landlords, all sorts of code violations etc, but they spun off part of their business into this new one where they have stellar reviews. I don't know if they know I know who they really are or not, but at this point I think they might suspect I do. I decided to move in anyway because it felt like maybe they were trying to change and do things the right way and build up a positive rep and maybe sell the main part once they have enough volume on this part. Which is a totally logical pivot if you've made mistakes and are cleaning up your rep.

But now I'm wondering if they appreciate someone protecting their investment or see people like me as a threat to it reporting this stuff. Totally unrelated to me a few weeks ago the local police got a tip that a beach rave they broke up had targeted our complex to move the rave to and cops were there all night making sure they never arrived, which is good, people living here don't need the sort of property damage a rave can do, and, yeah, I have been to raves myself years ago, not against raves, just not on private property without consent. My wife does not want the kind of men coming around coming around, and we don' want to have to deal with things like police raids next door or god forbid they get the address wrong at our place since it's next door.

What do you think?
