Basically anywhere that Harry Potter is discussed, the topic of Muggles VS Wizards always comes up. And the majority of the time it’s people shitting on Voldemort and the Wizarding society as a whole by saying guns and modern armaments would easily take care of Wizards. This is fucking stupid if you know anything about the series.

If Voldemort won at the end of book 7 and moved on to invading Muggle society, we’d be screwed. Voldemort is so much smarter than many people give him credit for. He spent the first 11 years of his life in the Muggle world and returned there every summer during his years at Hogwarts. He’d know a lot more than you’d think. He’d definitely know about the military, Muggle Weaponry and political hierarchies. All he would need to do to begin a takeover is to place the Prime Minister and Parliament under the Imperius curse just like he did with the Minister of Magic in book 7. You might say that it wouldn’t be easy at all, because the Prime Minister is so well defended. But that’s wrong. At the start of book 6, we see the Minister of Magic appear in the Prime Minister’s office through the fireplace without so much as a squabble. All Voldemort or any Death Eater would have to do is use the floo network to enter the Prime Ministers office and boom, they’re helpless. Parliament would be a little harder considering the number of people to control, but disallusionment charms, apparition and invisibility cloaks would let any number of Wizards/Witches sneak into Parliament and subjugate everyone there. This could be repeated in other countries too.

Once the higher ups were taken care of, Wizarding society could begin to subtly and slowly change the Muggle world to their liking, eventually making it reach it’s breaking point and allowing a sudden, unexpected invasion from the Wizarding world. With everything in such disarray, a takeover would be easy. As the average Wizard as so much more firepower than the average Muggle. Sure, the Muggles have the military, but at this point the Wizards would have the whole Government, meaning the military would never even show up, or that the military would be the first eliminated. It’d be like hiding under someone’s floorboards for years, slowly chipping away at the foundation of their house, and then suddenly letting off a bomb. The homeowners wouldn’t have a chance. The Muggles wouldn’t have a chance. If the Wizarding world wanted to, they could annihilate the Muggle world without a fight.

I love answering questions. It makes me feel secure in my interests to affirm that I know a lot about them. And sometimes I struggle to express my interests to other people, so answering questions about them acts as a way to convey parts of myself that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to. Dinosaurs are the subject I have the most knowledge in, so I thought if I was going to do an AMA on anything, it’d be this.
