If you’ve ever considered a BRT CAR15SD upper - they’re AMAZING!!!

CMMG radial delayed, fixed-ejector upper with a ported barrel. Making 115gr 9mm subsonic AND so soft and flat to shoot!! And stupidly quiet!

I had been using a Kynshot 5007 in an A5 tube until I discovered that u/amphibian-c3junkie helped them develop and recently release the 5000A5.

The marketing says the 5000A is meant to help reduce gas in underpowered setups like radial delay. Usually I think, “marketing gimmick” - holy shit this thing REALLY reduces gas blowback to the operator and puts it out the blast end of the suppressor.

Previously the ‘worst’ part of the BRT SD setup was it being gassier to the operator than 147’s and a can. Not any more - this new buffer really does what it claims; substantially so!!

I will say the CAR15 SD requires the most precise tuning and ammo selection of my frt guns. But once you find what works for your system, it’s also absolutely the best.

That is, until my true mp5sd arrives in a couple of weeks!!

Here's the extended handguard before tomorrow's shoot with it.

Being able to move the support hand forward, even an inch or 2, is a big improvement on a platform as short as the Kuna. I also get a better modified c-clamp grip with my thumb all the way over the top with this handguard.

The ultimate solution with be the MI metal handguard debuted to the public a few days ago. I use their suppressor cover handguard on an mp5K and it's glorious!!

Also, this A3 industries folding stock bar let's me adjust the placement up half a pic slot on the 1913 end plate. I'm going to see if having the stock slightly higher with regard to the bolt helps with the up and down nature of the Kuna's recoil under cyclic firing.

I think the bolt having a good deal of metal weight above the bore-line of the gun gives the Kuna that "burping" nature to it's recoil pattern.

Anyway - can't wait to shoot tomorrow!!!

EDIT: I thought Cat stopped production and sale of the Spooky A1, especially in 9mm. I was surprised to find this for sale on their website and ordered another one for my 2 non-tri-lug mobs!!!

Hello Cat sub, haven’t posted much but never left.

Today I was VERY surprised.

I now have 3 Mobsters - 1 QD and 2 Hub’s. For some time, Cat has said the best suppression with the Mob comes with an AI 9mm nano.

Today I tested recoil smoothness, shooting flatness, and cyclic rate of fire - the Spooky A1 blew the nano out of the water.

This is a ZF5T - an mp5k with threaded barrel and no tri-lugs. I moved the Nano 9 that had been on this gun to my new Kuna, and replaced it with my trusty old A1 Spooky.

HUGE benefit is softness, smoothness, reduced muzzle movement, and slower rate of fire with the Spooky.

And that’s after dropping from a 70 degree locking piece with the Nano to a 100 for the Spooky. That’s a MASSIVE change in the mp5 platform.

I was shocked at how much better then Spooky performed. I don’t have a gunfire-accurate db reader to compare the 2, but every other metric HANDILY favored the Spooky - wow!!!

EDIT: Forgot to mention I reinstalled the firing pin block, tested flawlessly in dry fire, and ran 350 rounds through it today with not a hint of trouble. Worth considering a trial with the fpb if you removed it with your Nexus.

Holy cow am I loving the Nexus ARC V2 Kuna!!!

I’ve swapped to AS Designs fcg with JP rifles trigger, hammer, and disconnector springs. Geissele hammers don’t work well in certain frt platforms like the Kuna or full-sized mp5, so this is my solution.

I also tried the OEM stock recoil spring in the first 2 clips - notably too slow on bolt return to battery. I can feel it in my trigger work in regular semi, and it chugs too slow in full frt.

I tune my AR’s and mp5’s to run as slow as possible in frt, so it’s still hard for me to let go of a lower fire rate. But I can tell the Kuna really does need the +20% HBI spring.

All in all I had a great shoot. I hope to try out some extended handguards soon.

And I really have to give it to the Nexus folks - I love their lower.

But I sure am thinking about it; and boy do I like the looks of ‘er right now!

Tomorrow I’m going to test the ARC V2 with the OEM base spring and with the firing pin block installed. Easy enough to swap both parts should the need arise.

I’ve been able to get out all of the play in this MI alpha folding stock beam; and it’s a GLORIOUS solution.

I'm usually bombarding with my FRT videos, and will again Tuesday. But today I wanted to test out an ASD fcg with JP rifles spring kit.

I love the sound of the suppressed Kuna - it makes me think of an old-timey typewriter!!

The video isn't up to my usual standards, and I really don't care for this range. But I loved the sound and figured I'd share with you!

Did I absolutely need the 3rd Mob? No.

But I surely wanted to own a 4473, no form 4 suppressor!

Plus it’s not my nature to hot swap cans, so I had planned on this happening anyway.

When Battlehawk sent me the text that Mob hub was on the shelf, you better believe I rearranged the afternoon to walk out with one!

Also, Kuna with Nexus, G$, and ARC is quite enjoyable!!

So last night I showed you my Kuna with my new Nexus lower.

Today I showed you how it works - INCREDIBLE!!!

I’m using a Geissele single stage competition trigger with an ARC V2 45/90 and the +20 recoil spring from HBI.

Just AMAZING to shoot! I can’t believe how awesome it was - exactly what I’d hoped the platform could be when I bought it!

I still have to sand down the hbi aluminum end plate, but the plastic OEM rear pic rail held up without any trouble today.

I shot Blazer Suppressor 147 through my CAT Mob until my preferred HSL 147 gets here in a few days.

As a totally unpaid guy off the street, I can tell you this Nexus is the real deal - utterly transformed the gun for me!!!

EDIT: if you are wondering why so gassy - this is what CAT suppressors look like the first time after you clean them!

EDIT Part 2: in my haste to post this before the drive home I forgot to type out how awesome the Nexus company is - they are super responsive and help get their tremendous product working fantastically.

One of the mod’s here spoke to me at length about how great Nexus has been, and my experience is the same. I’m literally nobody, not an influencer, not a gun-tuber, no one. And they have made my experience exceptional - highest recommendation from me!!

The Nexus lower is a PHENOMENALLY nice piece of kit!

I have 3 metal AR lowers for my mp5’s from high quality companies, and the Nexus quality for this Kuna lower blows those out of the water.

I installed a Geissele single stage competition trigger that I cut myself this morning with an ARC Fire V2 - absolutely flawless dry fire testing.

And wow, the Kuna comes ALIVE with a high quality AR trigger, safety, and my preferred pistol grip.

The only minor ‘issue’ for tonight is that the new HBI aluminum adapter will in fact require a bit of sanding/polishing to fit in the Nexus. This is a known outcome when pairing the HBI with a Nexus, and HBI clearly states fitment is likely to be required on the product page.

Easy enough; and I just installed my AR stock with pic beam on the OEM Kuna end cap.

Tomorrow will be quite the day!!!

Also, I can dry fire with absolutely no binding with the firing pin block installed. But I did remove it for tomorrow’s first range session. I don’t want failure, and those pieces are WAY too small to take out at the outdoor range!

If you’ve considered the Nexus, do it. This is a MASSIVE upgrade to the platform!!

Ever since I’ve gotten into guns with the recoil mechanism contained within the upper, I’ve had a hankerin’ to try a telescopic folding AR stock.

Well, the Kuna presented the perfect platform. The OEM stock is not up to the task of controlling and steadying this weapon, in my opinion.

Also, as the Kuna is quite light, I thought some added weight with the metal folding brace and hinge would help absorb a bit more recoil.

My goodness does this feel and maneuver world’s better to me than the OEM stock. And god bless you if you can make the brace work, but that thing is an abomination in my hands.

With my all-time favorite AR stock, the Kuna is substantially more stable in dry-fire maneuvering and positioning. It snaps in to place right where I want and expect it to be.

It looks really sexy in the collapsed position or even partially extended, but at 6’ tall I shoot in the fully extended position.

This is the Midwest Industries alpha beam folding stock with a Daniel Defense buttstock.

I had considered the Haga stock, but I find trying new stocks is always quite hit or miss for me. Much more often miss than hit. I knew I loved the DD stock, and goodness does it vastly improve the handling of the Kuna for me.

Oh, and almost forgot - DONT SHOOT 9mm through the ODB!!! This can is here simply as the closest approximation of my qd Mobster as it drys from some breakthrough cleaning.

I’ve got 3 mp5/k’s and recently added a Kuna.

I’d been drawn to the Kuna by updated controls and a slower cyclic fire rate when using an frt.

Today was my first shoot with the Kuna, and I definitely have some tuning to do to my system.

But the gun even in regular semi showed me just how incredible the mp5 platform truly is in comparison.

Yes, the mp5 is over 60 years old. I’m not sure a better shooting subgun has been invented in that time.

The more I shoot it, the more I enjoy this sucker. Very high flow rate, as quiet as Pew Science reports, and the form factor can’t be beat on a short rifle.

I’ve always liked the look of the Tisha, and really dig it on SBR’s with just enough gap to clear that handguard. Ultimately I did choose AI nano 556 to work as a blast baffle and avoid any troubles with direct threading.

Taking of the AlleyCat 556 for the new SAW I had to drop the buffer from a Kynshot 5000HP to their regular 5000.

All around tremendous experience.

I have the Nexus lower HOPEFULLY arriving any day now, which I think will offer substantial improvements. However, I really wanted to get FRT work done while waiting on that lower. Please please please u/Sad-Championship485 - I'll get you a ton of high-praise videos for no cost to you whatsoever!!!

I found I needed a +2 activator, and only 1 of my 2 slip trips would work.

This is HSL 147 ammo, which is fantastic, soft and slow in my mp5's but you can tell the fire rate is too slow with this setup.

I can't believe it, but I'm ordering the HBI extra power spring to hopefully speed up the fire rate - absolutely every other cyclic firing FRT gun I own the goal is to reduce the fire rate as much as possible! But you can tell things really chug as I work through the magazines.

I'm also ordering a Midwest Industries folding stock beam for my preferred AR15 stock - the OEM Kuna stock simply is too flimsy for the gun's recoil. If only there were a Choate picatinny stock!!!

Later today I'll post a longer video comparing this gun at today's inaugural shoot with the mp5, mp5k, and mk18 I brought along. Those guns are mature and tuned, and demonstrate what the cyclic firing experience SHOULD be.

Does it run? I mean, in the most basic sense, yes. Does it run well? Not really. Would I recommend this setup to anyone? Certainly not in it's current form.

Would I recommend a Kuna? Honestly, an mp5 or mp5k clone with an AR15 lower is a MUCH better shooting experience without being that much more expensive than the Kuna with AR controls. Is last-round bolt hold open worth a worse shooting experience? Meh.....

Ultimately, I hope the upgrades I have planned for this gun save it from being a mistake purchase.

My favorite Salty Boy Designs angled foregrip came in today - I use this on all of my AR's and mp5's. It feels just perfect in a modified c-clamp grip; and it's ANGLED if you are running a pistol!!

I thought I'd grip the magwell with the support hand when other AR foregrips were too large. This little guy is just perfect here.

To the question - how do people like their AR stocks on their Kuna's? I LOVE me some DD stocks on all my rifles. I like the LOOK of the OEM Kuna stock but I'm not sure I love the body positioning and stability of it.

I'm thinking about a Midwest Industries folding beam stock with my favorite DD on the end. While I love the look of compact pcc stocks, I have many for my mp5's that are just too narrow and not as stable as I'd like.

Thoughts and recommendations are very welcome.

Pretty handy little gun. I took off the DD vertical grip as this magwell seems made for the support hand.

Anyone have experience comparing this Kuna stock to a UCS or other good stocks?

Dialing in the Tisha on my DD Mk18 (yes with m lok rail sacrilege).

I’ve had to drop from a Kynshot 5000HP to the standard 5000 with the Tisha’s further reduced back pressure compared to my AC 5.56’s.

The AC 556 is a tremendous can for short 556 rifles, but the Tisha beats it in all regards. As I capture more videos of the SAW, I can tell the sonic crack is more prevalent in the audio as the Tisha provides better blast explosion suppression.

And the form factor of the Tisha is just awesome on a 10.3” gun. While it is inconel, the can is closer to my body than the AC making the gun feel less front heavy.

Ordered my Nexus lower and super excited for u/Sad-Championship485 and his crew to ship that sucker to me!

I can’t wait to get the Kuna cyclic firing with subs & a 45-90 ARC V2 and put it to work against these mp5’s.

I don’t plan on using the extra power HBI spring as I prefer a rate of fire as slow as possible.

Any tips for maximum Nexus functionality?
