New Gun; New Can

Here’s my gray mp5 from Zenith; with my still unfired Milkman.

Both will be properly worked in tomorrow.

I never thought I’d see the day that a suppressor would be freed in 4 days while a form 1 would take months, but here we are….

Get ready for some video tomorrow!!

PhotoBomb

Some goodies came in yesterday!!

My gray ZF-5 and the UTG upper for my old MAC5K. Yes these 2 guns share the Milkman for now.

Hopefully the AR lower comes in for the full sized mp5 tomorrow and I can shoot my 3 mp5’s Friday. And the milkman for the first time!

I wish I could take better pictures, the gray mp5 looks REALLY good in real life. And the UTG monolithic is a very high quality piece of kit.

Milkman, Now With More Tri-Lug

This gun will be much closer to final form tomorrow or Wednesday, but I wanted to show some pics with the tri-lug adapter in today’s new Milkman.

Wow, I get the tri lug love now. Though I will say the selling feature for me was this low profile bixler Rugged Universal 3 lug system.

No spring, very easy lock up, and not the slightest HINT of wobble. Holy cow does this thing mount up as well as any of my taper and thread QD systems.

I will say, creativity and past experience was required to torque the RU3 into the Milkman to spec. The RU3 comes with an awesome torquing installation tool.

The Milkman utterly lacks wrench flats. And oh yes, the vice block that comes with the Milkman won’t slide off over the installed RU3 adapter!!

Dry wall patch ‘tape’ from Lowe’s wrapped as close to a single layer and as tightly as possible around the cylinder of the can. This mummified can vice gripped HARD in your vice. And then torquing the HUB device to spec.

If attempting this for the first time you may want to try on some other shitty can you don’t care if you leave vice marks on. Once you get the hang of it, this really does work without marring your can.

All in all, this is an amazingly tidy package.

I will have videos nobody asked for Friday.

Some K’s, & the New Milkman!

Old mp5k, new Zenith ZF-5T k variant with threaded barrel and no tri lug; and brand new Milkman!!

The Mob will live on the 5T, while the Milkman will split time between this mp5k and the ZF-5 full-sized I ordered over the weekend.

Rugged Universal 3lug bixler mount arrives in the mail today, and the UTG monolithic upper for the regular mp5k arrives tomorrow.

I hope the mp5 gets here before Friday’s shoot!!

Silent MP5’s

Milkman released from 4-day jail this morning - my shortest wait yet!!! Also my first OCL suppressor.

Here are my mp5k pdw and mp5k threaded barrel only (Zenith ZF-5T without tri-lugs).

I bought my CAT Mob qd before I even had the pcc host, and had no idea how popular tri-lugs are in the mp5 space. For the longest time I’d loved my mp5k but didn’t care for the exposed lugs and barrel.

A happy accident saw me purchase the ZF-5T instead of a full-sized mp5 last week, so I now have the K variant I’d been eyeing since I discovered its existence a year ago.

The Zenith has been so good I ordered a ZF-5 full sized mp5 over the weekend, the gun I THOUGHT I was buying to begin with!!

The CAT Mob will live on the threaded only mp5k, while the Milkman will split time between this regular mp5k and full-size mp5 using the Rugged Universal 3lug bixler mount arriving in the mail later today.

Also arriving but not pictured are the UTG monolithic handguard for the mp5k, and of course the recently ordered mp5!!

Hope you enjoy!

Surprise Zenith 5T

Here’s the second half of my break-in with my surprise ZF-5T.

Thought I ordered a full-size MAC5; lgs gave me this threaded-barrel no tri-lug K!!!

Truthfully I’d been wanting this gun since I discovered it for use with my QD Cat Mob. Turns out the Zenith is substantially higher quality than the MAC5k I already have.

I went ahead and ordered the ZF-5 this morning after such a great break-in shoot with the ZF-5T.

Not shown were the initial break-in 200 124Nato rounds before this. Cyclic supers aren’t very fun for anyone.

Some AR lower manufacturers warn that Zeniths may not function due to their bolts sometimes riding lower. My ASD lower and Leber V2 were both flawless with this upper.

And no, it’s nowhere near this gassy to shoot. When I am at the range at sunrise the phone does all kinds of weird exposure and capture things automatically to make the video seem as well-lit as possible. The phone chicanery is fine, except that it massively exaggerates this shooting gas. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Surprise Gun!!!

Have you ever picked up, bought, or shot a gun that really surprised you?

Well that happened to me 💯 yesterday when I went to the lgs expecting a full-size MAC5 I had ordered and they pulled out a K!!!

Something must have really gotten messed up with my online order cart as I triple checked that I had selected the full MAC5.

But upon closer inspection, I noticed this wasn’t an mp5k pdw but rather the much rarer ZF-5T from Zenith. A gun I had been eyeing for almost the past year after I’d learned of its existence.

Many of you are familiar with the usually oos AP5 LT - the ZF-5T is the K variant of that. An mp5k with a threaded barrel but NO tri lug.

I bought my first mp5k after purchasing my Mob QD. I was never interested in tri lug over QD mount from a mating and lock-up standpoint. But the aesthetic of the exposed tri lugs and barrel on my first system always bothered me.

Now I have this K Zenith and CAT’s qd lock-up, with an AI nano to boot!!!

The Zenith is far higher quality than my MAC5k I purchased about 18 months ago. The MAC had myriad malfunctions through the first 500+ rounds.

This Zenith had a single FTE during ejection and only 1 FTF when I tried the included Zenith mag.

Break in was 200 rounds of 124 NATO followed by 300 rounds of 147 blazzer suppressor and Phantom Defense.

I was so impressed with the Zenith that I ordered a ZF 5 for the full-size I thought I was picking up yesterday.

And yes, I’ll be sharing a video with you soon😇

Oh yes, I will be using tri-lug on my new ZF 5, and my old MAC 5K with the Milkman when it’s hopefully out of jail in the next few days. I’m going to use the Rugged Universal 3lug and its minimal bixler style.

Might have to get a 309 RICO to ensure each mp5/k has its own can…

Current ASD Stripped Lower Lead Times (attn pic)

Welp, I’ve been loving my mp5k with ASD lower so much I went and bought a full-sized mp5 to compliment the little guy!

Anyone with recent experience have info on turn-around times for stripped ASD lowers without any upgrades or markings?

I’ve got spare G$ SSP’s and ARC Fires, and lots of experience assembling and stripping the ASD lower!

I checked the website and it mentioned lowers ordered by 5/12 will ship by tomorrow - I hope I didn’t miss out on quick turnaround by a day!!!

Also bought an in-stock Milkman for the mp5 at my lgs. Gonna run it on a Rugged Universal 3 lug. My thought was to keep the overall package about the same size as my mp5k with Mob.

Thanks in advance!!

Just F*ing Incredible

Some range days are good, some are meh, some are frustrating; some days are even great out there.

Today was truly glorious. Everything came together in ephemeral perfection. As close to Heaven as earthly man can hope to get!!

ASD lower with V2 45-90 ARC; CAT MOB; Geissele single stage precision.

CCI suppressor blazer 147 with an 80 degree piece, phantom defense 147 with a 100 degree piece.

Truly perfection with a cyclic rate between 940 and 970. Every round flawless. Incredibly soft shooting with essentially no recoil, shove, or bounce.

The 45-90 safety is the perfect match with the small mp5k platform. Choate stock and MI suppressor handguard also coming in sublime.

Truly glorious when it all comes together like this.

Different Clothes

After switching to the Choate stock, I’d originally put the short MI m lok handguard back on. It’s nice and tidy, but one can only extend the support hand so far.

Figured I’d try out the SD MI handguard today. It’s definitely comfortable with the support hand further out.

Can’t figure which look I like more with the Choate at the moment.

And this Choate is legitimately awesome - hands down the best stock I’ve had on this gun!

A GREAT Day!!!

I’d been chasing failures in my SS/ARC setups since my ASD lower arrived last November. SS but not ARC would work, then nothing would work, then even my Leber V2 started acting up.

Different ammo, switching ejector levers, RCM-e bolt, locking pieces, slip trips - troubles persisted.

Well, today I’ve finally gotten back to the nirvana of a reliable cyclic fire mp5k; now with the incredible ASD lower that lets me use my favorite AR pistol grip, trigger, and the AWESOME 0-45-90 V2 ARC.

Turns out the RCM e bolt causes failures to extract in my system. Once I finally gave up and put the ol tried but true MAC bolt with HK extractor and spring back in I had flawless function. Ran at least 300 low-power 147s to be sure today.

When it all finally comes back together and is reliable, boy oh boy does it feel great! Soft, slow, no movement during ARC - a pure treat to shoot!!!

And for me personally the ergo’s with this grip and trigger and 45-90 safety just can’t be beat. The 90-180 is great for AR’s, but the 45-90 is the perfect match for the mp5/k.

And oh yes, this was the first time with the RTG Robert Choate stock. Hands down, this thing is the best stock I’ve used on the mp5k platform. And this nylon end cap from RTG has ZERO wobble. Not a millimeter.

I’ll go so far as to give this choate the highest praise I can - I forgot completely about it while shooting!!! It performed so well I didn’t notice it at all.

For my particular setup, the ASD lower requires the ejector lever it shipped with (definitely NOT an HK lever), a V5 or V4 slip trip with the ARC, and the regular ol bolt my MAC 5K shipped with 10,000 rounds ago.

Today was truly fantastic for me!

Anticipation Friday

Excited to try out the new Choate stock tomorrow, as well as a higher locking piece to help with very soft phantom defense softies.

Anyway, enjoy some pictures!

One of the fun aspects of the mp5/k is how mature and modular the platform is. All sorts of different tweaks, additions, and changes to personalize the gun. And then change out something to make it new again!

I’d been really loving the look of the Choate stock on the mp5k, but had been put-off by reports of wobble. Then someone mentioned the Robert RTG nylon end cap Choate has more material at the rear pins to alleviate the wobble.

Holy smokes does this thing lock up super sturdy - not even a millimeter of stock wobble. And this Choate takes out nearly all of the play of this ASD lower that is very loose with my UMP and B&T folders.

And it feels great to manipulate and shoulder the gun with this Choate.

First shoot with this new stock will be Saturday - plenty of dry fire practice between now and then!!

Enjoy!

Used both my Leber V2 and ASD ARC V2 today.

Enjoyable day at the range, but not without frustration. I’d used Phantom Defense 147’s before with good luck; but this recent batch has had loads of failures and fouling of the gun.

I suppose it’s kept me on my troubleshooting toes.

Anyway, here’s the best content I could salvage for you.

Happy Sunday.

Shot the ASD mp5k with the new 0-45-90 ARC. Huge improvement over the V1 on this platform.

Something about the thinner stock of the mp5’s made the 180 throw disrupt my mechanics more than on my AR’s. 0-45-90 feels perfect in this compact little package.

Ammo - crucial!!!

Phantom Defense never lets me down in 300 blackout, but this large batch of 9mm 147’s from them is not up to snuff.

PMC bronze 147, while hotter than I prefer, ran flawlessly today.

I know people are excited for the ARHK, and it’s great to have ever more options. But I just love my preferred AR pistol grip, Geissele trigger, and AR safety.

I put my SEF oem lower back up on after the last cleaning for the first time in almost a year. Oh my god I forgot how terrible the ergo’s on that thing are.

Maybe a Navy ambi lower feels closer to the Leber V2. The one reason I’d try the ARHK at this point would be a slower fire rate.

Anyway, enjoy!

I’ve just now installed the V2 ARC 0-45-90 on my trusty mp5k.

This is my 5th ARC, with the others all V1’s.

The ARC’s have been flawless for me across 4 AR’s in 5.56 and 300blk.

Sadly, I’ve had troubles getting the V1’s to run consistently in this mp5k. Even function testing with the assembled gun would have troubles with the V1 ARC resetting. Consistent across 4 ARCs and many many triggers.

Again - flawless function both testing and live fire in my AR platforms for V1’s.

Well, this 0-45-90 V2 function dry fire tests flawlessly in the mp5k. Every single ARC test is a success through the dry fires.

If work permits, I’ll live fire Wednesday; but if I must wait the real shooting test will happen no later than this Saturday.

Also, the 0-45-90 throws are MUCH more suitable to use on the mp5/k platform compared to 0-90-180. The 180 throws work very well for the AR’s, but the 45-90 is MUCH more ergonomically pleasing on the mp5.

While I’ve not yet shot it, I think the internal upgrades ASD mentions in the marketing are really improving the functioning in my gun.

Can’t wait to shoot it!
