DCI Questions

Okay so I have a question, but it might be a long story. I am a sophomore in highschool and I am a snare player in my schools marching band. Our drumline is extremely competitive because we don’t have a front ensemble (45 people, 5 tenors, 5 basses, 10 snares, 5 silent snares, and 20 cymbals) and so I worked really hard to land a tenor but because the older players got more choice. I learned all the tenor stuff though and it was what i think was fairly difficult. Even though that may seem kinda random it will make sense. I recently went and saw DCI this past weekend, and cause we don’t have a front ensemble we don’t compete, I wanted to join a DCI all age or open class corps and I wanted to ask if what I need to do or what suggestions you all have. For reference I live in Chicago area and I was looking at northern lights DBC but I wanted to ask. I don’t know really how competitive these are and I don’t know how to march traditional grip because of my tenor stuff and cause my schools snare line marches matched. Any and all advice would be awesome. (PS how do I make the Randal may pearl collab carriers more comfy as ours are like 15 years old?)

Everyone is straight 😭😭😭

For context, I’m 15M and I am not really out yet. (I am to my parents as they are lesbians (yes lucky Ik) and only a few friends) every time I meet someone at school or become friends with them, they are either straight or straight (that’s it) and every time I’ve met one of them it’s through a very stereotypicaly gay activity like theater or music or choir, and yet none of them are. I don’t know how to deal with this because like my school admin is super supportive of all identities and eveything, but then you have high schoolers which are to say the least, generally not. Like I dyed my hair rainbow for fun in march, and I had to lie to everyone and say it was to support my parents with the current administration and not cause I wanted to in fear of being outed. And I swear even though I don’t do anything to people, I still get weird looks and comments in the locker room as if gay people are attracted to every person they see like I would want you Roman 🙄. All this to say any suggestions for finding queer friends to hang out with aside from the gang I already do who I know are not interested in me lol.

DIY Organ with MIDI Keyboard and Pedals

I wanted to ask what the best MIDI keyboards you all use that I could buy to use as a practice organ. I was looking on FB marketplace for a pedalboard, but I wanted to know what a good MIDI keyboard to use was.

Beginner to Intermediate Church Organ Songs

I started playing organ 3 years ago and now I play monthly in a church that doesn’t have an organ. I play a lot of hymns, but I wanted some help finding some intermediate non hymn songs to play for church. I especially like playing camp and Sunday school stuff so if you have any suggestions please let me know!

Parents and Money

Hi, I just had a question for everyone about the way my parents are acting. I have wanted a jet ski for years now (I know this sounds snobby but hang with me) and my parents always said no, but then a month or two ago they decided to get a small camper trailer for our car to go camping dispite us not needing one nor having a practical place to store it. It ended up being too heavy to tow with our van, so rather then sell it, they bought a brand new Toyota tundra. All of this was fine, but I asked them tonight if we could get a jet ski, it wasn’t obnoxiously expensive and I even promised to not do things like sailing club or a birthday party to get it, but they said no, and then when I asked why, they went on a rant about how much I cost and listed things I do and how much they cost like my school goes to Disney every two years and that costs like 2.5k, and I got to do Model UN trips that cost money and summer camp, etc. but they complain about all this to me and act like I should help pay for it or that I cost them too much money, and I don’t know what to do, cause I can’t get a job, and I don’t have money otherwise, and additionally my brother just went to a camp for example that costs half of my Disney trip but they never rant to him about costs of stuff, and they act like I am so much more expensive then him dispite me being in high school and him just going into middle school. Overall I could understand their point of view, but they also say their jobs are threatened, but they have been saying that for the past year and nothing has happened, and combined they make like 250,000 a year. I don’t know what to do and I feel really bad and angry and I wanted some advice/ a place to vent so any notes or advice?

Also I know I’m privileged and I’m probably just overreacting but I wanted to vent

Edit: I am probably just over reacting because I get so much and my parents are probably fine and I do live a good life so maybe just ignore

Amtrak 40 delay

I am taking the Amtrak 40 train from Washington DC to Chicago and it is saying it is stopped outsides Petersburg VA due to mechanical issues. Any idea how long this usually takes? We have already been delayed 5:30+ and they refuse to offer any sort of compensation.
