Seeking a Tree Increment Borer (tree coring tool), for a Cowichan River mission. I found a very large log embedded in a gravel hillside in the Cowichan River. Could have been buried thousands of years ago, and now uncovered. I'm hoping to document it/take samples (citizen science and shit).🪵

If you have a tree increment borer and would like to come on the mission or just lend it to me, hit me up please!

🪵I'm also going to be taking some photos and wood samples to perhaps have it carbon dated.

This kind of thing breaks my heart. What kind of world do we live in when even teddy bears don't have a place to call home.

Help with subreddit rule: How often do you think companies should be able to host AMAs on r/HeatPumps?

There's also an acknowledgment that there are different reasons for an AMA. Could be for a product delivery, general company, industry training.

Midea certainly is putting a lot more holes in the bottom of their cold climate heat pumps. IMO It might be better to do fewer but larger ones as that may be less likely to freeze over.

I don't care what anyone says this was the BEST IN SHOW WINNER at the after dark car show tonight at Mayfair.

Fight me.

Complex answer needed if you can provide reasoning. 18k BTU mini split needs 8 extra feet after a 25-ft line set. Will there technically still be enough refrigerant to run in a mild climate. For heating, only the added 8' of 1/4" line needs to be further filled with refrigerant. Considerations?

The reason I'm asking is for someone that's doing an install and has a 25-ft line set and unlikely be able to top up the refrigerant for the added 8 ft extension. There are obviously multiple factors that go into added refrigerant amounts per foot or meter extension, but what are the other factors that aren't considered, climate / operating temperatures, ultimate load on the unit if undersized or oversized, other factors? A unit will obviously still function properly if it's 1 ft over 25 ft, but when does 2 ft or 3 ft or 4 ft become an absolute issue.

Kind of looking for a brainstorm to learn more about this detail. Learn some people's experiences. I'm of course assuming that no refrigerant is added and that the outdoor unit only supplies the 25 ft of refrigerant that originally came with a unit. I'm also considering this in a relatively mild climate such as the Pacific Northwest.

Hoping to help an old friend (single mum) repair this roof. Looking for a list of points on how to fix the perimeter edge as plywood is showing, and general advice. Perhaps use some silicone seal or does it really need a full repair? Honest advice appreciated.

Hello, There is a New Non-Profit PG Maker Space and they are having an Open House this Sunday June 7th from 1-4pm. I'm posting on behalf of three colleagues who have been working for since last year to bring back a maker space to PG.

I can try answer any questions if you have them. :)

Wish you the best.

Last weekend I got to see the Princeton Jet Wind Vane. It was very cool and very impressive when it turned quickly.✈️ If you get a chance to see it, I'd recommend.

From the discover Princeton website... "Enjoy B.C.’s largest Jet Wind Vane. The T33 Mark 3 Silver Star is located at the entrance to the Airport on Highway 5A. This aircraft turns with the wind and the cockpit solar panels light up its landing lights at night".

I have deduced that very likely my Miele stick vacuum battery went dead because these two fuses blew. Can anybody help me with what exact replacements are needed? New batteries are $200 Canadian and I'm hoping that with my soldering abilities I can replace these two fuses.
