Which SNES cover art is your favorite and why?

Finally got this gem from my childhood and I think I have to say it’s probably my favorite cover art from what I’m assuming is the generation that is king for cover/box arts (I thought I remember hearing about just how much more important cover arts were back in the day since it was essentially the main way to market the game).

I just love how Super R-Type’s cover art drips with aura. It really embodies that feeling of you being this tiny little space ship taking on truly terrifyingly large alien creatures in the deepest depths of space.

So which SNES cover art is your favorite and why?

Does USPS not accept prepaid eBay labels or was the employee at the post office just having a bad day?

Still a little confused by a situation that occurred earlier this morning.

(Please bear in mind I’m still relatively new to selling on eBay so shipping has still been a learning process for me)

There is a post office 10 minutes from me that I typically stop by on my way to work in order to drop off my packages that need to be shipped out that day. This particular post office has a pretty nifty self checkout machine for prepaid labels. I didn’t know about it at first since I would just wait in line and bring my packages up to the counter to be scanned, but after a few times the employees reminded me I could just use the self checkout machine. I just walk up, click a few buttons, scan my packages, and drop them in the drop box as simple as that. That particular part of the post office is even open 24/7 so I can even drop them off on Sundays or at night on my way back from work which is sometimes helpful.

Anyways cue to this morning. I’m in a rush for work and as I walk in to the post office I notice a lady has 3 large bags full of packages in front of the self checkout machine. I ask if she had just got there and she gives me the hint that it’s “going to be a while”

I figure “no biggie” I’ll just hop in line and have them scan them since only one person in line too. Get up to the counter and it’s one of the normal guys who is usually always friendly, he even showed me how to work the machine once. I tell him I just need my prepaid labels scanned and he looks me blank in the face and says “We don’t do that. You have to scan them at the machine”

I was a little taken aback. “Excuse me, but I’ve come here several times before and had them scanned with no issues by other people”

“Well that’s why those people don’t work here anymore” he quickly replied.

I didn’t want to argue or throw a fit, but instead just took my packages and went to work. I took a lunch break later that afternoon and went to a post office that’s near my job that I’ve gone to before as well. This location does not have a self checkout machine and has also just scanned my packages by hand. They were confused as to why the first post office wouldn’t scan my packages as well.

So I have to ask, can I not drop off my prepaid labels at the USPS counter or was that employee just maybe having a bad day?

P.S I thought I had heard once about a service through USPS where they can pick up your packages from your doorstep if that’s correct? Just starting to realize the daily trips to the post office came be time consuming, especially instances like this morning if someone is in front of me with a bunch of packages.

What is the best way to handle a previous buyer that is interested in items I was going to post, but haven’t listed yet?

Hello 👋

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I started selling video games on eBay last month and have been having a blast so far. I’m a collector first and foremost so it’s been really enjoyable sourcing things and finding obscure diamonds among the rough when it comes to games. eBay seemed foreign to me as a seller, but after getting my feet wet with a few dozen sales needless to say I’m hooked.

I had a great interaction from one of my first buyers who reached out to me asking if I would be able to combine listings that he would like in order to cut down on shipping as well as if I’d be open to bundling them for a small discount as well. We agreed on price and I removed the listings, created a new one with a higher price so it wouldn’t get accidentally bought by someone else, and had him offer me the price we agreed upon. (Side note, did I do this correctly or is there a better way to go about this?)

Delivery took place. Everything went smooth and he even left me awesome feedback which I sincerely appreciate. In our initial messages after I sent the package he said he’s on the lookout for anything PS2, PS3, Xbox or 360 and I let him know what else I had that I planned on posting. He wasn’t interested in any of the other items I was going to post, but I let him know I can inform him when I come across more of games for those consoles.

I also want to ensure that the actions I was taking there were also appropriate. I’m fully aware that I should not try whatsoever to facilitate any sale off platform and am not sure if what I did was tip toeing those lines.

He said this morning he was interested in another item I had, but it was sold before I saw his message so I just left it be. I have a decent bit of games I acquired for the consoles he’s looking for and just want to ask is it ok for me to message him with what I was planning to post or could that lead to issues?

I just don’t want to do anything that could jeopardize my ability to sell on the platform.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I love buying and selling video games, but lately I’ve been torn on something…which format do you think is best?

I know that at the end of the day the pictures don’t matter as much as the item/value/demand, but am curious if anyone experienced in the space has a particular preference and reasoning for their choice.

First shot your able to have the largest display of the item/cover art, but as someone who is picky about wanting games CIB (Complete in box) your sometimes let down swiping and seeing just the disc (obviously this is somewhat mitigated by your title, but I could also see people just scrolling looking at just pics and prices.)

Option two showcases both the disc and manual insert and has a larger display than showing all items separately, but could see the case it still lacking the pop of a close up shot.

The third route is displaying everything which does look nice and showcases it all since sometimes the manual insert differs from the cover art, but obviously this route is typically the most zoomed out.

So if you like purchasing games to collect, which of these do you prefer and why?

EDIT: I think I need to clarify, I’m just curious which picture would be the best opening/1st picture as I always try to include as many photographs and descriptions as possible in my listing.

I don’t know a thing about cast irons and don’t have 5k to drop on them, but if you are into this category, would you have been interested in this find?

I know cast irons are good quality and not cheap, but wasn’t sure if this was a gold mine or something probably too good to be true. I don’t even have the cash flow or the space to entertain an offer, just curious what others think of a post like this.

I can’t be the only one…

I know they can often have additional content or have issues fixed that were present at launch, but needless to say I’m a black label enjoyer. I even have a few that are still greatest hits disc, but that I swapped to their black label version.

Looking for advice for selling and shipping cards

I recently got into selling on eBay and have been enjoying sort of learning as I go. I’ve been primarily selling video games since it’s a genuine passion of mine, but I’m interested in also selling off a lot of the TCG cards I own. The bulk of it is Yugioh, but I also have a large binder of common Pokemon cards from the first sets.

I just have a couple questions in regard to listing and shipping.

Should I strive to sell just singles or is better to try and bundle cards? Maybe a blend of both? I’ve heard that profit wise games are best to do individually, but it also takes the longest (please keep in mind I have a full time job and this has just been a side hustle and I’m not needing things to sell ASAP).

I have only done shipping with poly bubble mailers and small (9x6x2) packages so far and am curious how it works with I’m assuming sending just envelopes? I never even see that option when I pull up my shipping options, but I know that could also be because none of what I sold so far was even feasible in an envelope (mostly been PS2 and Xbox games)

How do you go about protecting cards that are shipped? Is it as simple as a penny sleeve and then a top loader? I remember getting lots of cards mailed to me back in the day and usually never had any issues with these when they arrived.

And lastly for those with experience on both sites, how much of a difference is it between selling cards on eBay vs selling on TCG Player?

I’m sure I’ll have some more questions, but wanted to start for now with these. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My two favorite finds from most recent haul

Got these in a bundle (20 PS2 games for $100) as they definitely got my attention, in particular what looks like a sealed copy of Batman Begins (even has the EA stamp on the bottom)

Never even knew there were Gundam PS2 games and the artworks are sick. Very pleased with this haul and some of the others included with it.

Looking for some honest feedback on my CRT selection…

And by honest feedback I mean “justification” from reputable CRT aficionados such as yourselves that my “way too large” TV choice, at least according to my wife, was in fact a solid pickup and should remain in the mancave (luckily I get the call either way since it’s not the rest of the house, but trying my best to explain to her, “but babe it’s got S-Video!”)

Truth be told I’m a complete novice in regard to CRTs and went down a deep rabbit hole after watching a video by a guy named 8bitjoystick on YouTube (highly recommend checking out if get a chance and I can link the exact video if that’s allowed?) and have no idea if I got a decent option, a hidden gem, or a hunk of junk.

Got it for $40 off Marketplace (I’m sure I could have waited on getting something for less, but feel like everything I had hunted before that was always $100 at least.) and was sitting in grandmas room in a nice house in the suburbs. Even came with the remote 🤙

Needless to say moving this bad boy by myself from my car to inside my house was an experience since she is not light, but she’s got handles at the top!

I haven’t tinkered with the settings whatsoever, but love that it’s for the most part in excellent condition (the only issue which I’m sure some can tell by the 2nd to last pic is that there’s a noticeable half inch to an inch black space at the bottom, but maybe that is fixable?) It really has not bothered me whatsoever.

Been putting off this post for a while, but I’m ready to hear the good, the bad and the ugly, so hit me with it. And please just judge the TV and not the setup as that is my next goal since it’s probably too big for the narrow TV stand I already had (this unit was 32” I believe).

So what are your thoughts on my first ever CRT pickup?

Edit: I forgot to add that my goal was initially something relatively large like a 20” to 27” and while there was no listing of the size when I got this, I was still stoked to see how big it really was. I’m wanting a CRT specifically for things like my SNES, N64, PS2 and OG Xbox so hoping this can be a one trick pony for them all 👏

[PS2] Looking for help troubleshooting an unable to read disc error

Not sure if this is a really simple fix or if I’m just doing something wrong and wanted to come here and ask. I have two PS2 slims and when I was moving things around last night I accidentally dropped one of them from a couple feet up. I sort of “caught” it with my foot on the way down to at least somewhat break the fall. I was concerned I might have still damaged something internally and wanted to test it to see.

I grabbed a random sports game just to test it and it booted up fine and read the game no problem/played. I had also been wanting to test a new game I got recently (Tekken 5) and put it in the same PS2 after testing the sports game, but this time got an immediate unable to read disc error. I was at first concerned that the game I got was simply unplayable, but then I put it into the other PS2 slim I had and it worked no problem.

So I guess I’m at a loss here for what to do next. It’s clearly not the game itself I imagine since it worked on my other PS2, but I also can’t say with certainty it’s the PS2 that has been dropped that was no longer reading discs since it was still able to read another game no problem.

Has anyone had this issue before or know the best way to resolve it? Any help is greatly appreciated thank you!

Got into Kollecting recently

This was part of bundle deal and laughed because the top game on the pile was a random blank case and then I noticed this was the game underneath that one. This was also in excellent condition and curious what the others look like although I’ve never come across these until now.

Never played this before, but my friends convinced me to get it since it was their favorite game growing up and we’re all meeting up at the beach later this summer. Describe it to me in one sentence.

The irony is this all started with me bringing up in chat one night about getting into game collecting. I had snagged SSX Tricky for PS2 and was telling my buddies how it was the greatest snowboarding game of all time. They took a firm stance that it was in fact Snowboard Kids.

I’m going to wait till we all get together this summer to play it for the first time and get the true party mode experience, but until then describe me the game in one sentence.

And is it really the best snowboarding game of all time???

I love the OG Xbox and PS2 labels. Which games do you feel like perfectly match their respective consoles?

Long time lurker. First time poster. 👋

Feel like I took the red pill and am officially in the rabbit hole of collecting. These are hands down my two favorite systems and what I want to collect first. Obviously been getting games that were near and dear to me, but have also stumbled upon a lot of gems I never even knew about and love some of the aesthetics of some of the stuff I’ve come across.

Seeing stuff like the Gundam games for PS2 that I didn’t even knew exist. Not sure how they play, but the box arts looked sick. Things like Oddworld Munch’s Oddysee too that just match the overall aesthetic with the cover art too. So which games do you like most in regard to their cover art?

This bad boy worth $100?

Saw this originally posted for free and seemed too good to be true. The listing was shortly pulled down after then relisted for $60.

Seller has taken the posting down, but messaged me back saying he got a flood of messages (understandably so). Does not have much history or activity on marketplace and genuinely seems like someone who just didn’t know what they had on their hands.

Asked for the model # and it’s a KV-20s20 from 1996

So I know there’s a lot of factors still involved, but would $100 be worth it? I know these are the grails of CRTs and don’t know when I’d come across one like this again

My wife has really been wanting me to downgrade from the 32” behemoth Toshiba sitting in my mancave
