Reshelled Phat NDS

$40 from Book-Off!

The sticker said the digitizer was faulty, but it turned out to be nothing more than a disconnected cable.

Someone had definitely opened it before, since it was missing a few screws and the digitizer looked brand new.

After replacing the shell and cleaning it up, it turned out pretty clean!

3DS XL Retail Display

I found it from my local Goodwill

On the back says "Retail Display"

I'm not sure what exactly this is, It seems to work like a normal 3DS XL

Is there anything special with this?

Reshelled a broken DSI XL

I picked this up for $10 at my local swap meet. It had a broken hinge, otherwise, it's fine.

I ended up reshelling it. The buttons that came with the new shell were pretty poor quality, so I decided to reuse the original ones instead.

I think it turned out pretty nice! 🙌

I've unlocked all of the steam achievements

I finally finished the Sea of Thieves achievement grind, and a few of them really overstayed their welcome.

  • 100 Veils was tedious. They really should've capped it at 50.
  • 1,000 Skeleton Captain kills was brutal. Captain spawns are random on islands, and the captains on Skeleton Ships don't even count for the achievement or the Order of Souls commendation.
  • Sailing 1,000 miles for every emissary—including Hourglass—was a massive time sink.
  • The Merchant Alliance delivery achievements were the toughest overall, in my opinion.

Some achievements felt rewarding, but others were more about endurance than skill.

I fixed my 3DS XL!

I picked up this 3DS XL a few years ago at a huge discount because the top screen was broken. It sat on the shelf for way too long, but I finally got around to fixing it.

After replacing the top screen and installing a new battery, it cleaned up surprisingly well. I wish I've done it sooner.

Restored an old 3DS XL

I bought an Japanese 3DS XL off Ebay for cheap, it was sold for parts.

Upon receiving it, I noticed both screens screens remain black when turned on but I could hear sound. Circle pad was gone and digitizer was heavily scratched. Everything else was fine so I decided to bring her back to life!

What a fun weekend project

Fixed my 3DS XL, what a pain

I accidentally sat on it a while back. I finally got around to fixing it, feeding the ribbon cables through the hinge was a huge pain.
