Pleased with this result. I included a process photo bc I tried to make up how to do HWI after reading a few paragraphs. And I love the photo so much. Shitload of ash and Dye on the tied shirt didn’t do much so I poured powder dye on the unfolded shirt and poured boiling water straight on from my kettle. That seemed to do the trick. Hot water reactive fuschia and navy from Dharma Dyes.

My friend Ben at Jackson Street Youth Services asked me to share this flyer and Hoogle Form with the Corvallis Reddit community.

They’re looking for musicians to play fun music to provide ambience and whimsy at their Jackson Street Bistro in the basement of First Christian Church of Corvallis from noon-5pm on Saturday and Sunday the 26th and 27th. Folk, DJ, youth, old guy, whatever as long as it’s pleasant / nice.

My buddies at Dead Puck Era made like 40 of these bootlegs for the KGLW festival in Buena Vista this weekend. Design is a riff on the Omnium Gatherum record / Avs logo / the song Magenta Mountain … lots of fun details. They also have a Han-Tyumi /Arizona Katchina jersey mashup. Dope shit. I did the tiedye :)

My buddy is doing a King gizzard/Colorado Avalanche mashup shirt, so I tried to do a desaturated version of the Avs burgundy-blue colorway with this improvised airplane fold roll thing that came out way cooler than I expected.

I only had kingfisher blue, hot pink and lavender and the shirts came out way too vibrant and dark, so I actually bleached this in my washing machine a couple times to try and get the colors to fade more so that when he lays the silk screen down, it pops off the background better. Learning a lot haha.

I couldn’t find a lot of tips from people talking about bleaching to fade color out during the curing/ rinsing process so I just threw a bunch of bleach in during the hot rinse cycle in my washing machine.

Pretty happy with the outcome for my purposes here but would love to hear more input from folks. I put them under ice around 11am Sunday (hot day) and rinsed them at 830am Monday. Kinda wish I had just used way less dye or cured them for a shorter period but this was a decent recovery…

I was really sad after rinsing to lose the ghosts I had captured. This was dying for 24 hours then rinsed cold with my hose then rinsed cold in the wash with vinegar then rinsed again cold with detergent then rinsed hot. This was dharma lavender and silver linings in a bottle of ice.

These came out p cool

So I’m cold water rinsing by blasting with the hose, first tied then untied . Then I’m soaking in blue dawn cold and agitating, then soaking in blue dawn hot and agitating, a few times till the water comes out clear or almost clear, then I’m running the washer on cold, then running the washer on hot. With vinegar splashes into Is this good?

Dylan de Honor is gonna do a short set, and there will be cool vizzies too.

I saw a cool video of someone drip ice-dyeing a shirt using a plastic bottle with a shirt hanging from the bottom. I'm wanting to tie-dye a bunch of shirts with limited time/energy and it seems like a good way to get a cool effect without actually being that good/ detail oriented at tie-dye.

Anyway, I'll be in Portland, OR for a few days or I could use the internet, what type of dyes do y'all recommend that are really vibrant/color fast? Also are there any particular techniques that I can do that will come out pretty cool without a lot of expertis?

Dyed this with a Michael's tie-dye kit and it came out kinda sick. The Michael's in my town only has Rit dye tho which I saw people hating on somewhere.
