Finished a campaign! Went out with a Nat 20 to slay the Jabberwock.

Literally the last roll of the campaign was a nat 20 by our Harengon fighter to do 100 damage with Snicker Snack to finish off the Jabberwock.

I made some stuff/borrowed odds and ends from various sources that went beyond the end of the book to take them back to the Carnival for a final battle under the big top.

That's all, just wanted to share that.

Edit:
I borrowed a bit from https://legacy.drivethrurpg.com/product/515554/Lost-Time-A-Guide-to-Adapting-Wild-Beyond-the-Witchlight - specifically the Mother/Maiden/Crone stuff that makes the Hags fractured parts of her identity. So, huge credit to that Neil Reynolds for inspiring most of this.

Here's hows things shook out for the story:
In my version, Z was still formerly Tasha, but I cut out the Iggwilv stuff alltogether because that wouldn't mean anything to my players. And with Tasha, I made it more about the fact that she was once a normal human to build empathy, not as much about "I know who that is!" They found her frozen, in toy form, back at the carnival in a pile of stuff under the big top. After waking her with the unicorn horn (one of the PCs lost item) they had to guard a "reunification" ritual where she joined back up with her hag selves. (Earlier at the palace they had to convince the Hags to do this.) The PCs had to use their now recovered lost items as connections between the hags and Zybilna to faciliate the ritual. The final battle was a "protect the ritual" kind of thing. Witch and Light and a bunch of carnival things like snails or horses came an trampled into the big top too. If the PCs dropped the items or an enemy entered the ritual zone it would extend the # of rounds or cause it to fail if it happened enough times. Zybilna called the Jabberwock for protection but because its kind of unruly, it went after the PCs. Oh, and I used the Goosemother as a carnival creature on the loose (I searched for large fey creatures and it popped up, it's one of those Magic/D&D crossover stat blocks). The Goosemother and the Jabberwock had a Kaiju battle overhead before the Jabberwock went for the PCs.

Skeptical of need for expander

My child is 8, almost 9. A dentist referred us to an orthodontist for an expander due to a crossbite. They recommended an expander (then braces and retainer most likely.) I'm usually not skeptical of medical advice, but this feels iffy to me. Like it's a recommendation that MIGHT help down the line, but maybe not.

I don't think it will hurt, but its a lot of money and intense discomfort for my kid. I understand what the goal is and why they say to do it now, but I also know these are kind of a trend. I can't tell if it's a new medical innovation that is good that lots of kids are getting it or if its a sales pitch.

We made it clear we didn't want to do it if it is only cosmetic and they said its not. Our kid is not having any issues right now with her mouth so this is purely preventative. We got very fuzzy answers in terms of the likelihood of problems in the future (tooth extraction and maybe braces for a long time, maybe 50% chance?)

She is a picky eater and I worry this'll make that worse too as her mouth feels funny with the expander. They are quoting us about 4k for the full process.

Should we get a 2nd opinion? That seems hard since getting Ortho appointments is tough.

I'm 100% all about vaccines and mental health medication and other medical processes that people are often skeptical about, so its weird that I'm pushing back on this. Thank you!

Selling a single game at con?

Is there an easy way for me to try to sell a single game? Like somewhere to post a listing online specifically for Gen Con? (The Expanse board game, out of print.) I don't want to do the math trade thing or bring a big pile of games to sell. Thanks!

Which wireless buds make a sound to find them in the house?

I'm having trouble finding a clear answer on this in my research. The Sony LinkBuds Fit are the right price point and features, but it seems like maybe only the WF-1000XM5 has the ability to ping them from my phone and have them emit a sound to find them in the house. But I can't find a clear description of that feature on the Sony website. They mention "Fast Pair" vaguely. And both seem to be able to work with "find my device" on Android (using a Pixel phone), but that seems to be able to pinpoint where they are like "at the park" or "at work" not "are they in the basement under the couch cushions or in my bag upstairs?" which is what I want to able to answer by getting the headphones to make a sound. Is that correct? Thank you!

Minimum needed to play?

I'm traveling soon and have an unopened copy of Earthborne Rangers I'd like to bring, but I was hoping to only bring components and not the full box. Do I need to bring everything in the box to be able to play? I probably wouldn't play for more than a total of about 10 hours.

Snap risk?

I'm very new to this world and I have a set of Veick tube bands I just got to get started. I think I'm already interested in higher end bands, but I don't want to spend the money until these are really ready to go. The 50lb band looks like this in a few places - is that a sign it is already risking snapping? There aren't any cracks in it. Thanks!

Gen Con Event Recommendations?

I'm looking to play Shadowdark at Gen Con and sign up for one of the events run by Arcane Library. Looks like there are 87 of them! They all list Betty Tatum as the GM, so I'm guessing that's just a placeholder. Some of them have another name. I've played a little as the DM, but not as a player. Lots of D&D experience. I'm not too picky on the setting, I mostly just want a representative experience with a good GM. Obviously there are schedule considerations for other stuff I want to do, but aside from that, any recommendations?
