what's it like to be a manager at the big retailers?

I'm guessing the managers are usually the ones with the card that gets swiped when a cashier screams "VOID!", or that is a floor supervisor? I've seen some Picknpays having people wearing red outfits, yes, you, I'm asking you. and other department stores like Game, Makro, and/or Checkers. I can never tell who the manager is unless they are in their office. How did you get there? did you start as a cashier or that's a profession that needs tertiary study or just the experience gathered along the way?

welp, I thought our neighbourhood was cool

there was not as many people marching but they were still marching and i heard "mabahambe" (they must go). there are businesses here and they would stop and i guess ask for documentation probably.

I was wrong, I thought me neighbourhood was cool because this side we don't really have a foreign national problem, i guess scapegoating is as prevalent than ever now.

let's start a band

Well, I cannot say I am great at music nor playing an instrument but I do have my guitar (still learning). I would say I have noticeable experience in music production(almost a couple years), FROM MY PHONE, but yeah I can make something.

I have never taken it seriously so maybe that is why I am not great, but maybe if I can combine forces with another person maybe then my skills could improve greatly maybe then I would have more dedication, you don't have to get a professional or amazing, just maybe you also want to hear another person's opinion.

I'm 19, in Soweto, and broke as hell though.

Upstairs neighbor purposely flooded the bathroom

Definitely could’ve caused an electrical fire the way water was coming through the light fixtures. She did this at least once a week or every other week for months

any volunteering gigs around Roodepoort, Soweto, Jozi?

I am a first year studying development so I guess it would be beneficial to get involved in volunteering in development-focused initiatives.

I checked online and ended up on a site that was telling me about fees and Visas, I am looking to help where I can, I am just a student with only the brains and hands to give back.

Come Dine With Me

what are your thoughts of the show, the South African version of course?

when I was still interested in cooking shows I used to watch it. one time I fell in love with one of the contestants but that's another thing.

I have never heard anyone's opinion of the show. how it is produced, what it takes to be there, do you just apply to go and get selected or it is just selected people for entertainment. IS IT REAL?

I wonder how the contestants' lives are after production and airing of their episodes. Oh and it seems like it is always middle-upper class people contending. but that is kind of understandable because I don't think a kasi person would buy aubergine and ham and whatnot

What kind of music do you listen to?

I am a mid-later gen Z and I listen to a lot of millenial music (not pop or kwaito). I ask this because I want to see if there are others like me who do not primarily listen to South African music. however, I have a playlist of South African music and i got prompted to ask this question.

i only have one dedicated playlist to our music which has ± 110 songs and that is it, it has some amapiano and some house, my favourite SA song has to be Sonini or Ntaba Ezikude. I primarily listen to alt rock and britpop now, I used to like a lot of hip hop and some pop because it was the mainstream, not what I liked. now I am really loving, Black Box Recorder from the UK, also Blur, The Smiths, The Cure, Radiohead, I only appreciate Britain for its music, lol.

i used to be a hardcore fan of drake and hard music. but I have been liking really soft music like Bic Runga from NZ, Mazzy Star. I listen to music mostly from the 90s-2000s. but I have my favourites from the 60s through to the 80s.

i know, my music makes me a coconut, but ja this is what happens when I grow up watching a lot of English-language stuff and moving between the East and West Rand, I have kasi and surbuban lineage in me.

What does the sugar consumption look like in your home?

I think they buy 10kg of sugar every two months or less here. I just live with my grandparents and everytime I see them making sugar a part of me dies, idk maybe it is just my gym mentality but I do not think three teaspoons of sugar is not ideal for each and every cup, I think the cup size is like 300-400ml.

My grandmother is not a truly healthy person (some health problems and whatnot), I do try to buy other things that are more ideal than bread and other staples. the sugar is what gets me, because she'd have three teaspoons with oats or Weetbix in the morning, then in the afternoon she would have that three teaspoons of tea.

yesterday I bought oros as a means to dial down the sugar. last month I had bought honey and it is still here, so she is not using it at all, gosh. I am pretty sure this much sugar is not good. idk, let's hear you
