What is pictured is the current setup. Mismatched from previous owner. Car hits bumps very hard and bottoms out. I need to find the best replacement set. Sounds like Sach would be best for OE ride as they supplied the OE parts. But no quick strut makes it more challenging as I don’t have proper spring compressors for this. Any thoughts on the best set of struts to stop bottoming out and offer a nice ride for city driving with a 16 year old girl (this is our daughter’s first car)?

Need help finding a book that deals with managing stress, feeling like I always have to be up and doing/accomplishing something, and with feeling like I have to fix everything.

I’m getting myself into a difficult place and neglecting the people around me because of my stress. It’s impacting too much of my life. I have an appointment with a therapist, but those are always questionable experiences at best.

I’m always in this mindset that I have to get everything done. I’m up at 7:30 on the weekends cleaning the kitchen, rather than allowing myself to sleep and wake up when my wife does. When she tells me about something that is wrong, my mind goes right to how I can fix it, rather than understanding that it can’t be fixed and she’s just looking for me to listen and support her. Work, losing a pet I loved dearly, switching jobs, finances getting tighter… a lot of things are stressing me and I’m letting my mind run with it rather than shutting it down and being present.

Any books have tools that really do well with these issues?

What do you want your partners/spouse to know/understand/help/support you with when it comes to your RA? I don’t have it, but my wife does. I want to be the best support for her I can.

I met my wife a couple years ago. She’s early 40s and was diagnosed a few years before I met her. Her RA has progressed and it’s, rightfully, scaring her. I can relate in some ways to living in pain due to leg stingers and nerve damage from degenerated discs and a cracked vertebra in my lower back. Everything I do causes pain, and I know the mental toll pain takes on you. But these are not the same. My body isn’t attacking itself. Her wrists, hands, feet, ankles, and even her hips are inflamed and swollen after a day on her feet. What I’m going through is very different than what she is. I cannot walk in her shoes and live what she’s living.

For those who have partners that are wonderful in their support, what do they provide you? What do you look for in help from them? I know we’re all different and have different needs, but I’m sure I can find some common themes in the replies that will work in our situation. My mindset is to always fix what’s broken, and that can’t be done here. So I’m looking for help.

Looking for a value if I sell my jeep - Located in Wilmington, NC

Looking for help putting a value on my TJ. I'm debating selling it as it just sits around. I built it to be my beach vehicle, but then I moved a little further from the beach and it's more work than it's worth to get it all the way down to the beach (never actually made it onto the beach with it at all). It's a 1999 with a 4.0L and a 5 speed. It only has a little over 87,000 miles on it. I bought it two and a half years ago after it was a little dinged up in an accident (front fender crunched). Carfax shows the accident but it has a clean title. The frame was rotted out, and I did a full frame swap with one that is in near perfect shape. Parts I've replaced in the last 2.5 years (extensive, this thing is half new):

Mechanical:

  • 4.10/4.11 front and rear axles from a 4 cylinder Jeep
  • Front brakes (calipers, pads and rotors)
  • Rear brakes (shoes and spring kits)
  • 100% of the brake lines
  • Fuel lines
  • Control arms
  • Steering linkage
  • 4 wheel drive mechanical linkage replaced with upgraded cable linkage
  • Clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, slave master cylinder
  • Brake booster
  • Front and rear driveshafts
  • Front sway bar brackets, bushings and links
  • Rear sway bar and links
  • Steering stabilizer
  • Front tie rods
  • Starter
  • Power steering hoses
  • Spark plugs and wires
  • Full exhaust (from manifold all the way to the tailpipe)
  • Front and rear adjustable track bars
  • Waterpump
  • Shocks and springs for a 3.5" lift

Cosmetic/misc:

  • Body lift and engine lift to match
  • Tailgate hinges
  • Hooke bumpers, with rear tire carrier for the oversized tires
  • 33x12.5-15 Mickey Thompson Baja tires (only a couple thousand miles on them)
  • LED headlights and taillights
  • Smoked lens all around
  • Gas cap cover
  • Wider fender flares
  • Seat covers
  • Bestop frameless soft top
  • Skid plate/transmission mount
  • Touchscreen radio with wireless car play
  • Grab handles to get in
  • Windshield (and gasket from windshield to soft top)
  • Multiswitch assembly (tun signals)
  • Ignition switch
  • Dome light override switch
  • Full carpets
  • Under the carpet it is fully bedlined
  • Upgraded speakers
  • Quadratec cover (for when you have the roof off, picture included)
  • Full A/C system has been replaced. Still need to get it charged up, but it's all brand new (condenser, compressor, collector, lines, all of it)

There are probably many things I'm forgetting, in addition to replacing dozens of nuts and bolts. I spent a ton of time and way more money than I should have building this to what it is. And with it just sitting here, it would probably be better for someone else to have it.

The only real downside is that the paint isn't the best. It's completely painted, but I did an at-home paint job with single stage paint, and it's not perfect. There are imperfections under it that show through, and one spot where it ran. Again, I was building it for the beach and didn't care how it looked. But then I went crazy and replaced half the Jeep with new parts, and I regretted the paint job. However, it would never be worth taking it to a body shop due to its age, so I really didn't care after a while. From 50 feet away it looks great, get up close and you see the flaws. Outside of that, it drives like a 27 year old lifted Jeep. Wanders a bit doing down the road, but not awful (I've had it going 70 and I wasn't worried about it). Goes through all gears. Starts up after sitting for a couple weeks.

It's neat. It's fun to drive. But I have other projects I'd rather work on, so seeing what I could sell it for.
