We have a fig tree that was cracked in half. It was just starting to fruit (central VA) and our household is heartbroken!

Any suggestions or ideas on saving it are appreciated

My best friend and father of my 9 only kid died July 4th. His mother wants to put an obituary in the paper. He did not want anything like that (she is honoring his request he be cremated though- just FYI)

I had the idea that a quote from the band Obitaury would be awesome to put in his obituary. She seemed kind of open to it?! Idk. In order to make this work though, it’s got to be something printable in a local newspaper and make it past her own style of censorship

Any recs for one or two lines you can think of? Some of his favorite bands are:

Allegeon (but they don’t have any lyrics, correct?)

That’s all I can think of right now. I know he liked death metal above all else (would it be better to post this in the death metal sub?) so if you have a quote from a death metal band that’s not one of these please suggest it cause maybe I will recognize the band as one that he likes

If this post crashes and burns I guess I can always look up more lyrics by myself but it is oretty overwhelming with all the other stuff I have to do right now so thank you if you even just stopped to read this

At my kids bday party. We were done with cake and presents and everything. I am taking pics of my family but one kids dad is standing slightly out of frame. I tell him “just taking family pics. you’re not included “

He took a slight step away and the. Left immediately after. I realized almost instantly how rude I sounded but didn’t have time to explain that I wouldn’t just take pics of him without permission or whatever

To make it worse, my kid was also being a rude little shit at the party so we’re both AHs

I’m not great with the social skills. I’m gonna reach out and thank them again for coming to help celebrate. Should I (over) explain that I am only unintentionally rude?

I overheard two maintenance guys working on one of the elevators at my job.
