Carnival of Saints June 25th on Kickstarter!

Take a look at out latest mini reveals: the Troupe Master, The Cherub Matron, The Possessed Celebrants and the rest of the crew so far.

Earlybird backers will receive a free Troupe Master with his cherub companion for the first 48 hours of the Kickstarter!

We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support this project has received so far. I can't believe than only a month ago we started posting and now we have met so many wonderful people that really love what we do. We are making our best effort to deliver the best campaign that we possibly can. This was a crazy idea, born from a crazy "fuck it, let's do it" impulse and never in a million years thought it would be received so well. Thank you for enjoying what I do, and in doing so, allowing me to do what I love.

If you haven't by now, you can follow the campaign here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/grimdarkcovenant/carnival-of-saints

Come along and be among the first to witness the arrival of the Carnival!

Meet the Harlequin Crusade!

In a parallel universe, the Laughing God is just... God.

These are the Jester Knights from The Carnival of Saints!

I was inspired to make a colorful and weird warband inspired by the Harlequins and the Carnival of Chaos from Mordheim for trench warfare. After making a couple of illustrations I became obsessed with it and started creating custom rules and minis. If you enjoy the project you can check it out on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/grimdarkcovenant/carnival-of-saints/

The painted Carnival of Saints!

Our first set of minis launches really soon on Kickstarter! I've been posting homebrew rules and art for these guys over the past few weeks. Here they are painted by the amazing yokai.miniature.art hope you enjoy them! We're excited to hear everyone's thoughts.
We worked really hard on the whole project and still got some cool designs left to show you (if you read our lore and the rules you know what i mean...)

Some lore to warm you up to this wicked festival of horror:

At first glance, it may seem that the Annihilator Saint does not belong to this band of freaks of nature. After all, the Carnival is a procession of fanatics, malformed madmen, holy fools, and things that ought not walk beneath God’s sun. Beside them marches His Holiness, a body draped in finery, his face untouched by age or suffering.

Yet this is only a mask. Beneath the waxen visage lies the corpse of a saint.

Long ago, the Annihilator Saint lived, died, and was canonized by the Church. Each Lent, he is awakened from his slumber and once more takes up the long march toward the Gates of Hell. Since the first of these awakenings, he has not uttered a single word.

Even the Cherub Matron herself has asked His Holiness why he associates himself with such lowlife creatures.

Though to no avail, the Saint did not respond. He never does.

The Carnival celebrates him and dies for him. Yet none can say what thoughts linger behind the wax mask. Whether he delights in their company, merely tolerates it, or fails to notice them at all.

But when the massacre is over and the last fires burn low, the Revelers tell a different story. They swear to have heard humming from behind the waxen visage. The melody is always familiar. One of their songs. One of their hymns.

Of course, Revelers are not known to be reliable witnesses.

So perhaps this is hearsay.

Or perhaps it is true.

For beneath the saintly mask, beneath the gilded robes and sacred relics, the Annihilator Saint is not so different from those who follow him.

He is, after all, just another fool for Christ."

The Carnival of Saints - a faithful faction of delirious jesters and violent delights

Hey everyone! Since the start of year I’ve been creating a homebrew/fanart TC project, a whole new faction. I was inspired to make a colorful and weird warband inspired by the Harlequins from 40k and the Carnival of Chaos from Mordheim. After making a couple of illustrations I became obssesed with it and started creating rules and minis.

This led me to create Grimdark Covenant, a new miniature brand with the dream to bring these illustrations to physical form.

This is the Carnival of Saints! A festival of horror and joy, a parade of revelers wearing venetian masks. A celebration of Easter which could only happen in this amazing grimdark universe.

So here’s a first version of the rules!!! No AI was used to make this, it was a long process with tons of love and effort and a bunch of play testing with my friends. Feedback is more than welcome!

(Link below, or you can find the pdf in the Trench Crusade Discord in the homebrew channel)

My Grail Warband!

Hi! Felt like sharing some pics of my BG warband… My cat (path of the beast main) had other plans tho!

I’ve played this band nonstop since I printed and painted it (3 campaigns, 3 tournaments and uncountable one-offs). I even kitbashed some custom Plague Knights for it (the one with the big gun was for the glorious pre-1.0 machinegun/locust spitter + 2x devotees combo) and a Holy Relic. I just love my grail. It’s my favourite faction in the game.

What do you fellow soup-enjoyers think?

The Jester Knights of the Carnival of Saints

I've been homebrewing a TC faithful faction for a while and I'm excited to show you some of my art and the lore behind it today!

The Jester Knights

“The world is a sad joke… Why not look the part?”

Those who endure will be rewarded. After the 40 relentless days of Lent, laughter and song become dead silence. The pathetic fanatics who joined and survived the Carnival will be forever changed by the steady hand of war.

Their festive and joyful dance now turned cunning and calculated, coordinated agility replacing the impulsiveness of insanity. It is believed among the faithful that these fools were touched by the divine, as if their survival was some sort of twisted miracle.

These few are worthy. They will be brought to Nuova Venezia and be knighted, receiving land, heraldry, and a suit of armour. In time, they will become members of the Holy Order of Divine Comedy, and join the ranks of the Jester Knights.

Although wearing colorfully painted armours with vibrant golden filigree, the Jester Knights are fierce, elite shock units. They are masters in the art of death, wielding a wide range of weapons both in close and long range. Their morale is unwavering. They will obliterate the enemies of YHWH.

HOMEBREW RULES:

The main mechanic i developed for the Jesters was inspired by the 40k Harlequins:

Harlequin’s Luck: Once per Activation a Jester Knight can reroll 1 single dice for any Success Roll.

It's quite a strong and flexible mechanic that let's these units shine attempting RISKY rolls and making the most out of every situation.

And makes them quite effective using Rapiers, one of the Battlekit I designed for the band, as a high risk high reward knife on steroids:

Rapier - Cost: 12d

TYPE RANGE KEYWORDS
1-handed Melee -1 DICE, +1 INJURY DICE
  • Bullseye: This weapon has the IGNORE ARMOUR Keyword on a 10+ Success Roll.

What do you guys think? If you enjoy the lore and the homebrew I'll try to post more about the band in the following weeks, and eventually share the rules on the Discord as well!
