Review for Phoenix, Dr Laura Vogel of Banner TOCA

I was a bit of a challenging case being rather thin and petite and was recommended to her since she was rumored to be “the best complex labrum tear surgeon in the valley.” Which she was excited about when I told her what my previous sports med facility said. Her PA works along side her in surgery, also a fantastic provider (Morgan Kadinger, PA) I have a tattoo square in the spot they’d be doing the surgery and she said she’d do everything in her power to make sure the wouldn’t ruin the tattoo.

Longer wait times, but she does dot all her i’s and crosses her Ts before jumping into anything. I had surgery earlier today and was terrified for an FAI and Shredded labrum repair and preservation things. She and her PA came by to comfort me and the hospital staff (Banner Desert) were very good with their bedside manner.

Highly recommend her you’re looking for a consult in Arizona. Her office staff were kind as well and took their time explaining the processes and fitting a hip brace. She also does not skimp out on the recovery medications and her office did a prior auth on a matter of days for a CT scan and an ice cooling therapy thing.

Exclusive signing wristband question

I didn’t really care much about exclusives this year so I let my friend designate my points to whatever. Turns out I won two for the first time in my life (go figure) and one is for the dungeon crawler signing. Would I be able to give my friend the wristband for that or am I the only one allowed to use it and get the thing signed for him? Thank you

Tips for upcoming event that involves a lot of walking?

I shredded my labrum falling down the stairs last fall (should always use a hand rail) and scheduled for the repair this August. However, I foolishly decided to postpone surgery from Feb to August because at the time, we were planning on full PAO before discovering my femur wasn’t actually as bad as we thought. But it’s getting significantly more painful as the months have gone by.

Last night I walked 3 miles for the first time in a few weeks and wow that hurt a lot. I have a 5 day event next week where I will be walking even more. It’s too late for a steroid shot and I’m not even sure it would have been an option being so close to surgery.

Any tips for how I can manage the pain from walking? Insurance already gave me Ergobaum forearm crutches and I’ll have ibuprofen ready on hand… I guess asking if anybody has helpful tips to relieve pain besides sitting on the floor 20x a day. Thank you.

My toddler sank in the pool yesterday

Ive got a pool with a fence, lock, alarm, and my back door is barricaded and I have another line of fencing even before the back door. They’re twin 3yo girls. So they’re swimming in life vests and time to get out for dinner. I pull them out, remove the life vests, but the gate hasn’t latched yet and in the blink of an eye, one of them runs back through the gate before it shuts and JUMPS IN THE POOL.

Before she sinks to the bottom, the fear in her eyes when she realized she was going under shattered my soul. I leapt into the pool with my phone still in my hand and yank her up, she hadn’t even been in for 5 seconds and didn’t even choke on water but my god… the whole ordeal was maybe only a few seconds but to me it felt so much longer. I’m rocked with guilt and fear, even though I did what I was supposed to by watching my babies in the pool like a hawk but that was so scary.

I’ve since signed up for swim lessons and going to purchase a pool net because this kid has zero fear and loves the water. Please, please watch your kids around water.

Benefits to getting Pro certified?

I’m very lucky my boss has given me the go ahead to take advantage of the training courses and allowing me to basically take whatever I want (I’m managing security, but work on the healthcare IT Finance team) and said if I wanted to get Pro certified I was welcome to do so. The guy who manages the Community for my org said it wasn’t necessary but wouldn’t stop me.

I’ve taken security, reporting, advanced finance reporting, prism analytics, and about to take integrations within the last 12 months.

Is there any benefits to getting pro certified in those? Thanks.

Is there a treatment to remove this?

I’ve had these for years now but my derm has never expressed concern so I’m assuming it isn’t harmful, but I’ve also never asked about how to remove them before.

I bought a car with cooties

So I keep the in-laws at a WIDE arms length, only because my kids actually love them for some reason and my parents are dead.

Recently, my friend bought a new car and offered to sell me his old car for $500. It requires $2k worth of repairs, but ultimately, I never really leave the house anyways (WFH) and the brand is very reliable. Sure it’s not visually aesthetically pleasing, but it’s a car that drives and friend took excellent care of it. I’m going to wrap it in anime decal or something eventually. Sounds good, right? Apparently wrong!!

Thing is, my friend is gay. He had an array of pride flag stickers on the rear window, which wasn’t my priority to remove because I truly didn’t give a rats ass about that, just needed to get it to a shop.

In laws come over and LOSE THEIR SHIT. I make myself scarce when they come over, but this time they call me down. I assume they want to see the car, but they immediately begin chewing my ass out that the “car has gay vibes” and “didn’t know I allowed my kids to play with a child who has gay parents.” I never mentioned his sexuality in passing conversations because it wasn’t related to discussing my kids and their close friend. They’re toddlers btw.

I left the pride decals up then one day came outside to find out they scraped them off and left the pieces in my driveway. Apparently a car wrapped in cringy anime wrap is better than a car that “has gay vibes” within it.

TBH, as long as the car didn’t have the remains of a decomposing body, I don’t really care who drove it as long as it was taken care of. Now it’s been deemed “my new spite car”. A 2006 Scion XB. And if they ever push hate on my kids, I will take their dad to court and file for custody.

Do workday employees ever call you?

So Sunday I was poking around on community for info on some terms I wanted to know more about. I just got a phone call from a number that was registered to a private name, saying he was from Workday asking about my search, my plans with my career, and if I needed resources.

I mentioned I’m taking prism analytics for admin next week, he offered to send me info on Prism via email (haven’t received anything so can’t verify the URL for legitimacy yet). I asked if they could provide my email address associated with the inquiry, which he did, but I guess I’m just a bit concerned if this was legit or not? He seemed polite, but it wouldn’t be difficult to find my work email via LinkedIn, but I have zero clue how they managed to pull my personal phone number off my community profile. My org doesn’t really use Community and training courses are “for if you want them then take them.”

My question is, this a normal interaction? Or could this potentially be a phishing attempt? I attempted to search up the matter but was met with Workday warning about scams.

Thank you.

Life is looking better finally

My life has sucked, but the highlight reel over the last three years sucked badly. My mom died a week after I had my first kid, then immediately got knocked up and had Irish twins, ex divorced me because he couldn’t tolerate my ADHD (medicated for it), I work two corporate jobs to get myself out of debt, and my friendships were strained because I never had the mental capacity to do things.

Somebody suggested psych so I humored it and was surprised to hear I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Given an SSRI Zoloft and y’all…. I feel like the world is brighter. I look at the bright side of things. I genuinely smile. I’m putting on weight, I’m visiting friends, I don’t feel like committing battery on my ex when he irritates me, my toddlers are less frustrating, my work is far less stressful.

I wish I went on these years ago 😭 I now look forward to waking up every day.

35 Minute layover, will check bag make it?

I didn’t realize at first when I booked my flight until yesterday, my layover tomorrow in Houston is only 35 minutes. I bought a seat in the front of the plane so I can haul butt across the airport if need be (haven’t checked in yet so don’t know my terminals/gate) but what’s the likelihood my bag wont be transferred to the next flight since it’s apparently going to be pouring rain all day tomorrow? Thank you.

Not blaming Southwest but it is a little strange they allowed this flight with such a short layover. Not complaining because it’s my fault for not looking before I booked it.

My bf is taking an American direct flight earlier in the day so I can give him my checked bag if need be, just didn’t want to burden him with a neon pink suitcase to lug around when he’s got his own.

Experiences with both Zoloft and ADHD stimulants?

My emotions have been a wreck for a while and really anxious lately so I expected my psych to change up my ADHD meds, but gave me 50mg of Zoloft instead. I start tomorrow morning on Zoloft but nervous about how it’ll interact with my Ritalin IR 10mg and/or Ritalin booster tablet. I’m literally fighting with a hydroxyzine currently trying to chill out about stupid irrational thoughts about how it could affect me.

Does anybody take ADHD medication and Zoloft have any experiences with it? Been on ADHD stimulants for years now. Thanks
