everyone told me not to do a coloured wardrobe. 1 year later the only thing i got wrong was the finish
My mother's exact words were you will get bored of it in six months. carpenter tried three separate times to talk me into the beige, the designer called the colour a resale risk on a wardrobe, which, on a piece of furniture that is screwed into my wall, ok.
did it in a deep rose anyway. floor to ceiling with loft cabinets above, off white inside, thin metal handles. one year in i still walk into that room happy, so on the colour - i was right and everyone else was wrong.
where i was wrong: i did it in gloss.
it photographs beautifully but in real life it holds every single fingerprint, and because the shutters are full height, the marks sit exactly at hand level on a 6 foot panel. i'm wiping it twice a week. i'd do the identical shade in a matte if i were starting again and i think it would look better and be more practical.
for anyone wondering, roya
