What happened to investigative journalism? why does everyone in today's society just believe what ever they are told by the media as fact without ever questioning it ?

Gone are the days of just covering the who , what, where, when, why and how of a story there was no personal opinion or feelings about it . now it's all about personal opinion and feeling why is that what happened to our media ?

Is the drive to trash someone more important than the story ? we are led to believe now that a leaked document is fact , did the reporter actually confirm what is said in the document actually true ? did the reporter actually confirm the document is true with multiple sources ?

If one would use the standards of jurnalism from the 70's to the 90's would the news stories we see actually make it on TV or the news ? Think about that
