French toast meal prep

French toast meal prep

Who else grabs the day-olds / manager special French breads from the grocery store bakery? Two packs of pre-sliced ($1.20 each) fit perfectly on a 28", and I've got easy frozen French toast breakfasts for the kids in the mornings.

Help with autographs

I visited my parents last week and brought this back with me. I took this to their San Diego Sports Arena practice in, I think, summer 03, maybe 04. Babcock was coach, and I think Federov was there too.

I see Giguere, Bylsma, and was able to look up some of the legible numbers and either confirm or get it very narrowed down. Can I get some help ID-ing these? Thanks!

Custom Kirkland Hockey Jersey

Thought the community would appreciate this. I finished a couple novelty jerseys I plan to wear at beer league and I just finished sewing this Kirkland jersey I wanted to make.

As far as I know, it's one of one. Not for sale!

Custom Kirkland Signature Jersey

Finished the second custom I had planned. Now I've got a fresh white and dark to rock at pickup & stick time.

Edit: It's not centered 🤦 gonna have to redo the crest, but not gonna repost.

In N Out Custom

I made a custom baseball crossover jersey to wear at my pickup games over the winter and got the itch to make more in the off-season. Here's one of two custom novelty sweaters I have planned. Still need to get a number kit and name bar.

Found old Gameboy(s) just in time for plane ride

Have a long plane ride to the grandparents later this week. Glad I found these for my boys (4 &7). Three out of four still work!

Equipment Alterations/Fixes

I needed to repair my girdle and I had a shell that had a comically large kidney guard extension.

On the girdle, I had worn holes at the bottom of the thigh pads and I needed a way to seal it up so the hard molded pad wouldn't fall out. That thick pad can't be sewed through, so I had to figure out how to sew the new material on and get that hard pad back in. Some jersey mesh, velcro strips, and poor craftsmanship later, and I've got my girdle back with removable thigh pads.

The shell alteration wasn't necessary, but the kidney guard foam was 7.5 inches high at the tallest part. There was a lot of overlap between them and my shoulder pads, and they were so hot. I ripped the seam off that piece, pulled the foam out, cut it to be 3.5 inches, and sewed it back in/into the pants.

Can't wait to get back on the ice with these. Anyone else do their own repairs?

Basic Laptop for Wife Who Sews

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Country

USA

  • Budget

$300 - $500

  • Are you open to refurbs/used options?

Yes, refurb/used preferred (have previously purchased laptops/phones from swappa and backmarket)

  • Screen size

13" - 15"

  • Weight limit

N/A

  • Purpose

Primarily home use. Will move between office and sewing projector.

  • Form factor

Standard clamshell, touch / tablet mode not necessary

  • Intended usage

Basic internet browsing / PDF file downloads, light business functionality (MS Office / Google Suite). Sewing pattern projector application. No gaming, streaming, or intense data processing.

  • Desired battery life

4-6 hours, more if available

  • Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life

Looking for a blend of high build quality / durability, performance, and battery life. Graphics and processing power is not a high priority, but would like the machine to be somewhat future proof and capable of basic/standard activity for several years.

  • Info/Requirements

Machine is for my wife who sews a lot. I currently have a Surface Laptop 3 with 16gb ram and i7 processor, which meets or exceeds her computing needs. She likes the size, build quality, keyboard, screen, etc. She just keeps stealing it when I need it, and may want a machine to build up her side business. She'll use it for pattern downloads and projections, light business/office use, internet browsing, etc. and it'll primarily stay in the office or at her cutting table with the projector.

Not sure if a similar machine (surface laptop 3 or 4) with lower specs would be good or if a newer machine with low/moderate specs would be best. I'm unfamiliar with the newer processors like intel, AMD, qualcomm, etc., and how they perform. Also not super familiar with things like ARM or chrome books, and if those operating system versions have very limited capabilities.

What's Happening to This Black Walnut?

I'm really curious what's going on with this black walnut in the park behind my house. It's got a crazy... growth... going on in the middle of its trunk. Is it the start of a burl or something? Two pictures are from today and the others are from earlier in the winter. Located in PNW for reference.

Anyone make/wears customized jerseys?

I bought a blank MiC adidas practice Jersey and wanted to make it unique (side note, the NHL practice jerseys are so nice). I found a Padres jersey crest and patches and decided to sew them on. I'm not even a baseball fan, but wanted to rep my hometown, San Diego. I finished this a couple months ago and it was a really fun project, but now I've got an itch to make another.

Didn't have a protein thawed so I marinated some Spam in Bachan's and fried it up with the veggies and noodles.
