RAM Supply Set to Worsen, Says Micron, as CEO Celebrates ‘Much Higher’ Prices.

>Memory-maker Micron has warned that RAM shortages will persist into 2028, and perhaps beyond.

>Speaking on the company’s FY 2026 earnings call, CEO and company chair Sanjay Mehrotra reminded investors that Micron has already sold most of the memory it will make next year and said customers will pay “much higher prices” than they shelled out this year.

>“In calendar 2027 as well as 2028, we see demand exceeding supply,” he added. “In fact, we see greater tightness in the industry in 2027 and in 2028 versus 2026. Overall, supply-demand environment is only getting tighter.”

>“We do not have line of sight to when supply and demand will return to balance.”

AMD Venice Demand Reportedly Off The Charts, As Industry Channel Checks Suggest That 2027 Volume Is Already Sold And AMD Is Currently Selling 2028 Volume.

>Demand for AMD's latest-generation EPYC 9006 series server CPUs is running exceptionally hot, with market sources indicating that all 2027 production capacity has already been sold out and AMD has begun taking orders for 2028. Morgan Stanley projects 2027 shipments could reach 6.75 million units; at an average selling price of $7,691, AMD could lock in approximately $51 billion in revenue.

>On the competitive front, market sources indicate that NVIDIA's in-house CPU is not expected to pose a threat to AMD's x86 server CPUs. NVIDIA's products are considered less cost-effective for workloads outside the agent rack, and the software migration costs from x86 to ARM architectures in existing data center environments are substantial, constituting a major barrier to entry.

>According to benchmark data, the top-tier EPYC 9996 (256 cores) achieved 2.37 times the overall throughput of Intel's Xeon 6980P (128 cores) and 2.24 times that of NVIDIA's Vera (88 cores) in the SPECrate 2026_int_base standard compute test. In a simulated 100kW power-constrained rack environment, the EPYC 9996 system delivered 3.40 times the rack-level processing performance of NVIDIA Vera and 2.46 times that of Intel Xeon 6980P.

Kepler_L2: RDNA 5 matrix capability is "double Blackwell" per SIMD.

Kepler_L2 was asked: "What kind of FP8 and FP4 matmul/core are we expecting for it compared to 50 series?"

He replied: "It's half rate per SIMD vs gfx1250 which would put it at double gfx12/Blackwell."

To translate those internal codenames real quick: gfx12 is RDNA 4, gfx1250 is AMD's server/enterprise AI hardware, and Blackwell is Nvidia's RTX 50-series.

Basically, Kepler is saying that even though a consumer RDNA 5 core runs AI math at half the speed of AMD's dedicated server chips, it still pushes about double the low-precision (FP4/FP8) AI math per core compared to RDNA 4 or an RTX 50-series card. AMD will be jamming dedicated matrix-math hardware directly into consumer Compute Units. Heavy path tracing in games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Alan Wake 2 (and recently Control Resonant) absolutely tanks framerates because tracing every light bounce creates tons of visual noise. To make those games actually playable, GPUs don't trace every ray, they trace fewer rays and let AI clean up and reconstruct the lighting in real time.

By doubling the matrix math speed in every core, RDNA 5 gets the raw AI headroom it needs to run heavy machine learning denoisers (like FSR Diamond or Ray Reconstruction) right on the chip without choking the main graphics pipeline. Pairing that with dedicated hardware handling the actual ray traversal, that means RDNA 5 is aiming for 2x to 3x the path-tracing performance of RDNA 4 per CU.

Kepler_L2 is a very reliable leaker, but these are big, startling claims. Taking into consideration the specs on AMD's AT2 GPU from Kepler, we're talking about matching the current $1600 RTX 5080 in raster and RT/PT in a worst-case scenario. AT2 is rumored to be the only GPU releasing in 2027.

Kepler_L2: AMD and NVIDIA Delay Next-Gen GPUs To 2028, Except One RDNA 5-Based AT2 Chip Launching In 2027.

Kepler claims NVIDIA is delaying its RTX 60 series launch to 2028, unlike some reports that claim the company has already prepared for an early 2027 launch. Keep in mind that all these reports and claims are unofficial and are mostly based on internal sources and industry rumors. But as far as the current development is concerned, it's unlikely that both GPU giants will be releasing their next-gen GPUs next year.

Nonetheless, there is one GPU that might see a retail launch next year, and that's one of AMD's RDNA 5 GPUs. For those who don't know what AT2 refers to, it's a GPU die based on the RDNA 5 architecture that reportedly boasts 40 Compute Units with each Shader Engine having 5 Compute Units. This GPU is supposedly going against NVIDIA's high-end Blackwell offering like the GeForce RTX 5080.

RDNA 5's Flag-Ship, AT0, will release in 2028 which will go up against NVIDIA's Rubin RTX 6090.

From RE Engine to producer-led teams: Inside Capcom's development strategy.

Insights gathered directly from Capcom developers reveal several core strategies behind the studio's recent momentum: heavy R&D investment into the proprietary RE Engine, centralizing development in Osaka and Tokyo, and early commitment to the PC market. Operationally, Capcom pairs strict budget and progress tracking with a quality-focused game pipeline that resists open-world trends. On the talent and culture front, the company prioritizes intergenerational mentorship (Pragmata, created by young Developers and Staff at Capcom) and empowers producers to exercise direct creative oversight rather than relying heavily on Western-style agile software like Jira.

Motherboard costs rise at least 10%, PCB prices climb up to 50%, Nova Lake-S launch under pressure.

>Motherboard manufacturers already adjusted pricing in China during August, but the increases were relatively limited. According to the report, MSI increased prices across its lineup, while ASUS and Gigabyte focused on selected higher-volume models. Colorful and Maxsun also made smaller adjustments.

Motherboard manufacturers warn that costs may continue to rise.

The prices of upstream raw materials used in motherboard products have indeed increased considerably.

  • PCB material prices have increased by 15% to 50% overall.
  • Prices of various types of capacitors have generally increased by around 50%.
  • Wi-Fi module prices have increased across the board, with increases ranging from 10% to 20%.

>Earlier reports had already indicated that ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI were preparing pricing adjustments during the third quarter. Nova Lake-S launch under higher pressure given the transition to the new LGA-1954 socket by Intel.

Lantern's Writer, Vanessa Baden Kelly, Claims Green Lantern Ring Is “Sexist” Because It Didn’t Choose John Stewart’s Mom.

>KELLY: The thing that I would always say in the room is that if the ring wasn't sexist, Bernadette would have been chosen, because she really is just the most fearless of everybody.

>For me personally, as a writer, and I feel like most of the writers’ room would probably agree, this idea of willpower and overcoming fear is so different depending on where you stand. You can be terrified walking in your neighborhood every single day, and yet still you walk. And then somebody else can come in and have no fear whatsoever because they don't know what your neighborhood is like.

AMD RDNA 5 reportedly targets 3.1 to 3.4 GHz GPU clocks.

>The comment appeared during a discussion on AnandTech forums (yes, they are still around) about expected frequencies for RDNA 5 integrated graphics. Another forum member argued that the upcoming APU GPUs were unlikely to reach 4 GHz. Kepler_L2 then replied that AMD is targeting 3.1 to 3.4 GHz with RDNA 5. What’s unclear is whether this range applies to all RDNA 5 products or only selected dies and if you have been following our coverage, RDNA5 will span across several products, including discrete GPUs, integrated GPUs, and custom console chips.

>Kepler_L2 has previously shared details about RDNA 5 implementation, including changes to its WGP design and future products. The architecture is expected to cover several GPU configurations rather than one common clock target, so final frequencies may depend on the die, power limits and product type.

CyberLeek Just burned all his dev coins, worth over $1,000,000 dollars.

  • 270,000,000 tokens were burned.
  • “Burning” tokens means sending the tokens to a crypto address where they can’t be used/sold anymore.
  • This is to prove he can’t sell or dump the tokens, pushing back against the "scam" and "rug pull" allegations.

JAT: Dune 2 was extremly pre-sales heavy. It had $40M+ sales by THU EOD. Dec 18-20 weekend will be the most pre-sold weekend ever. Doomsday will likely be $225-250M pre-sales and Dune 3 should be $50M+.

No, you didn’t read that Doomsday pre-sales number wrong.

Spider-Man, the Box Office king.

  • Spider-Man (2002): The first movie in history to break $100M in a single weekend ($114M). It set the standard for modern summer blockbusters.
  • Spider-Man (2004): Biggest Wednesday Opening. Grossed $40.4 million on its opening Wednesday, setting a record for mid-week openings that held for years. Set the record for highest 6-day starting gross ($180 million).
  • Spider-Man 3 (2007): Took back the crown with a $151M domestic and $381M global opening, which was the biggest launch worldwide at the time.
  • Far From Home (2019): First Spidey movie to cross $1B, becoming Sony’s highest-grossing film ever.
  • No Way Home (2021): Pure insanity. $260M domestic weekend (2nd biggest ever, only behind Endgame), hit $1B in 12 days in the middle of the pandemic, and finished near $1.92B global.

Brand New Day is looking to be the first $2B Spidey grosser and will dethron Endgame's DOM OW.

TheFlatLannister: "Brand New day had incredible growth over the last two days. It has already sold 200k across MTC3 for previews and 150k for Friday, easily making it the biggest thing I've ever tracked."

>"I want to be cautious here, but how things are going, with normal CBM walkups I am thinking $55M previews as baseline and if it has above average walkups, we may have a new previews record holder by a good amount. OW $250M++ (emphasis on the ++)"

On Doomsday:

>"With Doomsday out of the way (sorta, it had an impressive Day 2 considering how capacity constraint it is; It's still pacing relative to BND Friday, Saturday, Sunday somehow, i'm not even sure how that's possible). It will fall behind by a lot today though as there just isn't much seats left."

VARIETY: ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Racks Up $16.5 Million in Advance Ticket Sales After First Day.

>Disney’s Marvel Studios put tickets on sale tied to the launch of the first trailer, which teased an epic battle as the Avengers and X-Men face off against the villainous Doctor Doom. Those pre-sales are impressive because tickets were only available for premium formats in just 1,000 domestic theaters. When “Avengers: Doomsday” opens the weekend of Dec. 18, the Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure will land on more than 4,000 North American screens. Showtimes on Thursday, Dec. 17 and Friday, Dec. 18 are already largely sold out, according to studio insiders, and exhibitors are reportedly adding more screenings for Christmas Day and beyond.

>Advance ticket sales don’t necessarily translate to opening weekend figures, though “Doomsday” is predicted to have one of the biggest (if not the biggest) debuts of the year. Pre-sales are twice as high as the first-day figures for Marvel’s prior superhero mashup, 2024’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” — and that included all formats and screens on sale. “Deadpool & Wolverine” launched to $211 million and ended its run with $1.3 billion to become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
