How would one go about neighborhood-scale fundraising for putting up corner mirrors? I guess I should explain a little.

School is back in session, which means more cycling. That means more kids and parents going by blind corners. That means more chances to get mulched by a car nobody saw coming. There's a couple on the way to my children's school that make me wish there was one of those convex corner mirrors to make things safer. Problem is money's a little funnier than I'd like lately, and I never seem to have enough to put one up.

It'd be easier if I could get some people to pitch in. I can't be the only one who's nearly been obliterated by a luxury SUV or plowed into a kid, so I'd think that other people would be on board if someone were to ask. I'm just not sure how I'd go about something like that.

Short Version: Is there a way to use command blocks to issue a teleport command while also taking items from a player's inventory as currency? I'd like to do something like that for fast travel via boat or airship

Long Version:

For as long as I've been playing, my fellow players tend to build like 5,000 blocks away from each other, so it's a major hassle for us to visit each other. Once I found out command blocks were a thing, it wasn't hard to make simple pushbutton /tp stations... but that's pretty boring. What if we had some machine-like setup like a portal or a zeppelin?

That was all well and good, but I felt like it was missing something, like it was too easy. What if you had to supply some sort of fuel for the trip? Push the "go" button, the game checks your pockets to see if you have x3 coal first, and tells you "sorry, no" if you don't but teleports you if you do? That'd be even fancier, but I don't even know where to start on something like that.

It sure feels like something I could accomplish in the base game. And if I did, it'd have to be in Bedrock Edition since that's what the kids and I play on most.

Short Version: Can anyone point me towards a dice mold that can handle heat of 400°F?

Long Version: I dabble in 3D printing, so I have a big box of scrap and waste plastic. I found out recently I can melt it into neat shapes with a thrifted toaster oven and silicone mold. Then I thought "hey, I should try making dice with this!"

So I got a dice mold and some other goodies, popped it in at 375°F for five minutes and... wrecked the mold. I forgot not all silicone molds are made equal, and some not all are rated for heat like that. Okay, live and learn. But now I'm trying to find something made specifically for heat, but coming up with nothing.

Does anyone know of a place where I can get dice molds that can handle the temperatures I'm looking for? I was really excited about putting that junk plastic to work and keeping it out of the landfill, but now I feel like I'm back at square one.

Long Version: So, I got it in my head to try playing Full Thrust (I think my kids getting really into making tiny Lego spaceships helped; it's easier to do something when you have friends). Of course, I take inspiration from Homeworld and a quick look on the web shows I'm far from the first. So if I wanted to do a straight-up HW game, that'd be pretty easy!

But along the way, I started wondering what it'd take to play something like Deserts of Kharak on a tabletop too. Full Thrust wouldn't quite work because it doesn't really deal with line-of-sight since it's assumed to be taking place in space, which is notoriously short on obstacles and hiding spaces (ships can't even hide behind each other). So I think if we're gonna do this, I'll need another game to draw from.

...I guess I should explain more than I did over on r/homeworld, but Deserts of Kharak is part of the Homeworld series of real-time strategy games. Previous games involve starships in 3D space, but this one is set on a desert planet with giant ground combat vehicles. It keeps much of the same feeling and rhythms as the space-based titles, but includes elements like line-of-sight, navigating terrain, and using high ground for advantage. It's kind of funny because it definitely feels like a ground-based RTS, but the scale makes it still feel like you're using starships (i.e. the carrier base is about 400m long and even the smallest ATV "fighters" have tires as tall as a person).

So with all that in mind, does anyone know of a tabletop vehicular combat game that could be adapted for DoK?

I've been looking at these odd RSCB caps from JSPB for a while now, especially the XTRA2. But between printer problems and other things happening I just haven't gotten to trying one yet. Has anyone else done it? Because I'm kind of intrigued by the idea of just stacking a bunch of darts on the mag tube, especially while thinking of bow-shaped blasters to help avoid the string travel.

I was going to look at JSPB stuff and maybe buy something, but it's kinda messed up. Lots of pages are missing, incomplete, or otherwise broken (and just when I was gonna try the Ammo Burger...). Did something happen?

I saw some art a few years back, but I'm having the damnedest time finding it.

It showed a scene of a Metalmark fighting off a group of similar mechs, all of which had damage from scrapes and holes to severed arms. In the foreground were troops on foot, hiding and looking on from behind rubble. In the background, battered tower blocks rose against a fuchsia sky.

I think it was for the cover of a book or magazine since it was rather wide and there was a large open space where titles and other text would fit. The artist's description mentioned something like that, too.

I was just looking for some suggestions for Big Bad Bow springs, so naturally I was directed to Nerf Haven for such an old blaster. But when I got there, I got a missing site error. I thought it was the thread at first, but it looks like the whole place is missing. Is it only me? Or is it down for everyone? Because if it's gone... man, that don't feel good

Short Version: Does anyone have a good solution for shredding cardboard at home to fit better in your usual recycling bin?

Long Version: So you've had your fun with your box fort, suit of armor, or other such creation. But nothing lasts forever, especially so with cardboard, and big kids always clean up their messes. Small projects aren't that much of a problem, but this is a big one and you only have so much space in your recycling bin. It'd fit a lot better if you could shred all this, wouldn't it?

What I'm not sure about is how. I guess you could find a business that does it, but one of the things I like about cardboard is it's practically free. I'd like it better if I could just do it at home. I'm just not sure how, so I'm open to suggestions.
