What are you playing to stay out of the heat?

It is too hot and there is a summer sale on steam. The obvious solution is to stay in and work through the backlog that got bigger because of the summer sale. Currently playing SAND : Raiders of Sophie, V Rising (I swear I'll finish it this time), and likely Cyberpunk.

What is everyone else playing? Did you get any good indies from the summer sale?

Ways to catch and use ghost Dead and Breakfast management game for Halloween.

I've been working on this project for a few years now. You run a haunted hotel that you are growing ghost to sell and grow your house.

In this early dev clip:

  1. Find ghost you've grown hiding in the house in furniture.

  2. Pull ghost out and put it in a jar. Get ghost token for later.

  3. Put ghost in other part of house to work for you to help get better ghost (put in the library so it can scare people)

  4. Go to shop, use ghost token to get a new mask that is styled after the ghost you caught.

It's been super challenging but I couldn't have done it without Godot and the Godot community.

I have a steam page too which I still can't believe ( here if interested https://store.steampowered.com/app/4661090/Inn\_Kreeper/ )

Godot is just fun to work with. I enjoy working on my game and seeing it work even with my level of coding skill. I've learned SO much on this project and keep going back to old code and improving it (gotta be careful of that, I gotta release early access this year).

Anyway, I'd love to hear what you think. Been only showing it off in the past few weeks so still learning what people think.

How are you doing cosmetics in your games?

I really enjoy collecting cosmetics in game (even if I never put them on my character) so I wanted to have a way to do that in my game. I went with a gashapon machine. What do you think?

Anyone else doing something unique for their cosmetics unlocks? I'd love to hear the creative ways people are doing that sort of implementation.

To all indie devs, KEEP GOING!

How many of you are taking a shot at your dream?

I think most indie devs have a similar background, but I'm just guessing. We work in "development adjacent" careers while we work on our projects with the hopes people will play it.

While I do hope I can make a living off of this as time went on, I realized what I really wanted out of this was seeing people play my game and enjoy it. Playing their own way, finding secrets, laughing, having fun, etc.

I lost my job in the federal space and I took it as a sign to take my shot. What prompted you to go for it? How do you fight your imposter syndrome, assuming you have it?

Owlturd comic related and relatable for my game dev experience.
