Kukri fully finished, pretty happy with the sheath.
Applying dye and preparing leather sheath pieces for the next step.
Made a full build video of this Kukri (link in the comments)
Hand turned lanyard beads made from recycled offcuts.
Used various different materials like wood, micarta composits, carbon fiber... that have been left over from my other projects and would have ended up in the trash.
A couple of my pocket carry fixed blade knives
Knife models are Pocket Fixed Blade, Spearhead, Outlaw and Shinobi. Various different finishes but I really like the hamon blade finish the most.
Pocket fixed blade with sunset serape micarta and blue richlite.
Warp speed knife making
Many hours of handle shaping and blade finishing condensed into 160 seconds.
Recalescence effect on two big knives
The shadow on the blade is caused by the recalescence, as the crystal structure changes from austenite to pearlite, temporarily reheating the metal. I alwas find thsi very cool when heat treating
Recalescence effect
As the hot steel cools it suddenly brightens and glows hotter. This is called recalescence, heat released as the crystal structure changes from austenite to pearlite, temporarily reheating the metal... so basically magic.
I think the client wanted a conversation starter...
it's all over the place The Toxic Patriot Bigfoot Samurai 😄
Quick step by step look at some simple filework that I did.
First time doing some serrations, was surprised how effortlessly they cut.
Just a little test cut on some wood. This was a for a custom build, they wanted serrations on about 1/3 of the blade. turned out pretty nice in the end.
