My $65 “Beater GMT” Somehow Became one of my Favorites1😳⌚️

After wearing this Corgeut NH34A GMT for about two years now, I can honestly say it’s been one of the better “tool watches” I’ve owned for the money.
Mine is the 39mm white dial version with the NH34 GMT movement, and it’s pretty much become a grab-and-go watch in my rotation. It’s been worn to work at the firehouses and my office job, around town, traveling, working outside, and just daily life in general. It’s taken bumps and scratches way better than I expected.
The NH34A movement has honestly been rock solid. No issues with reliability, keeps decent time, and having the GMT function is actually more useful than I originally thought it would be.
For the price, you’re getting:
Sapphire crystal
Automatic GMT movement
Screw-down crown
100m water resistance
Solid link bracelet
On-the-fly clasp adjustment
Really comfortable 39mm case size
Honestly, the crazy part is I only paid around $65 for it at the time. Looking back, that was an absolute steal for what you get.
Is it perfect? No. If you’re super picky you can still tell it’s an affordable homage watch, but honestly the bracelet surprised me. The solid links feel pretty decent, the clasp has held up well, and the on-the-fly adjustment has been more useful than I expected, especially during long days or warmer weather.
What surprised me most overall is how well it’s held up over time. A lot of cheaper watches start showing their weaknesses after a year or two, but this one has just kept going.
I know homage watches aren’t for everybody, but if somebody wants an affordable GMT they can actually wear without worrying about beating it up, I’d absolutely recommend giving one of these a look.
Curious if anybody else here has long-term experience with Corgeut watches or the NH34 GMT models in general.

The [EFB108D-1AV] Made Me Realize I Need More Edifice Watches🤔💭

The EFB108D-1AV is currently my only Edifice and I’ve honestly been really impressed with it so far. Between the finishing, dial detail, and overall feel, it definitely made me realize I need to add more Edifice models to the rotation.
I’d love to see what everyone’s favorite Edifice model is. Current models, discontinued models, solar, chronographs, simple three-handers post them all. Bonus points for wrist shots and photos of well worn pieces!

Vintage Waltham IAFF on coffee duty this morning. ☕🚒

Been digging into this one and it appears to be a mid-century IAFF presentation watch, likely somewhere around the late 1950s to mid 1960s. Small seconds hand, old-school applied markers, and a manual wind movement. I was lucky enough to run across it on eBay and pick it up at a fair price. It was running straight out of the box, but I’m sure it’ll need to go out for servicing at some point.
Luckily I had a red and blue NATO laying around that seemed fitting for this one. Definitely one of the more unique firefighter related pieces added to my collection. I’m gonna have to keep my eyes on it though my union president might try to “borrow” it and accidentally forget to give it back. 😂
Everyone have a wonderful day!

I Think I’m About to Have My Grandfather’s Entire Watch Collection Running Again!😊⌚️

My mom reached out to me today and said she had found another one of my grandfather’s watches while going through some things, so I stopped by this morning and picked it up.
Don’t know a whole lot about it yet other than what I could find from a quick search. It’s a Faith brand watch with a Swiss movement. I took the case back off, snapped a few pictures, hit it with some air, wound it up a little, and it actually freed itself up and started running again.
Not sure if I should spend the money to have this one serviced or not. It’s running right now, though I’m sure it could probably use a cleaning and regulation at some point. Still, I thought it was pretty neat and wanted to share it.
I’m still waiting on his Bulova to come back from service, but I think this now brings me to seven out of the eight of my grandfather’s watches currently running again. That’s been a pretty cool and meaningful project for me.
The last big one I still need to send out is his Omega. I’ve been seriously thinking about sending it to Tim @ Omega Addict since I’ve heard a lot of good things about his work with vintage Omegas. If I go that route and get it done, that should finally give me his complete collection restored and running again, which would honestly be pretty special!
Do you all think this Faith watch would be worth sending out for service too? The same watchmaker who did my Waltham charged me right around $100 for a clean, service, and regulate, which honestly seemed extremely cheap! The Bulova is supposed to be around $170 for basically the same work. In both cases I asked them to leave all the original patina alone and just service the movement.
I’m leaning toward having this one done too, because under $200 honestly seems pretty reasonable to preserve something that belonged to my grandfather, even if the watch itself probably isn’t technically worth that much. I’m definitely open to any suggestions or advice from you all. Thanks and have a Wonderful day!😊👊🏻 Jim

Rediscovered this underrated Casio in the watch box today😎⌚️

Started out the morning wearing this Casio MTP-VD01-3EV, then got a call from my mom saying she’d found another one of my grandfather’s watches. Ended up swinging by, picking it up, and getting it running this morning, which always makes for a good day. But I figured this little Casio that I found on clearance last year at Walmart still deserved a shoutout because it’s been a solid watch and a fun one to wear. ⌚😊

Coffee, Memories, and a Vintage Swiss Field Watch.😊☕️

Picked up another vintage Swiss field-style watch today that my mom found among my grandfather’s things. I think this brings the count to around seven or eight of his watches that I’ve managed to get back up and running so far. I’ve still got the Bulova out for service, but this little Faith field watch made its first trip to the office with me today, so I figured it deserved today’s coffee and watch post. Always cool seeing these old family pieces ticking away again. Hope everybody has a wonderful day!😊

This Watch Makes Me Miss the 90s😎

The Casio DW-290-1V just has that perfect ‘90s Mission Impossible vibe to it. The chunky case, the industrial look, the EL backlight! it feels like something straight out of an old electronics catalog. Every time I wear mine it reminds me of my youth and to enjoy every minute of it! 😎⌚

Coffee, Computers, and a Vintage Hamilton ☕⌚💻

Working the office/IT gig on my two days off today from the firehouse, so naturally that means coffee and some wrist time with my vintage Hamilton 9812 eBay restoration project. Finally getting this old watch back up and running has made the hunt for parts and tinkering worth it. Not a bad way to spend the morning. ☕⌚💻

Couldn’t Leave This eBay IAFF Hamilton 9812 Behind!🔥🚒

Picked this Hamilton Quartz 9812 up off eBay for a price I just couldn’t pass up, especially being a firefighter and an IAFF member. Had to grab a donor watch too so I could get a good stem, crown, and crystal, but honestly that’s half the fun with these old pieces. Little bit of parts hunting, little bit of trial and error, and suddenly you’ve got another vintage watch back in service. At least now I’ve got a small stash of spare 9812 parts for future repairs. Really happy to add this one to the collection.
