iOS has a built-in alternative to a Duress code likely to be useful in a surveillance state

Privacy is recognized as a fundamental human right under international law. Don’t let the new normal only limit the intrusion of a sex offender’s information and communication privacy while surveillance state goons intimidate dissenters and activists.

To enable this feature, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Toggle Erase Data. Your device will be wiped after 10 failed passcode attempts.

For added security, store and upload your data to local devices and turn off iCloud sync by going to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > and toggling off the desired apps.

Finally, disable iCloud backups in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud backup > Toggle off Back up this phone.

Going out on my first real “first date”

I’m 35 and extremely self-confident. Yet, here I am going out for my first, romantically planned dinner out with a man I’ve spoken with for a month, and I am absolutely petrified. I have been single the last two years; prior to that, I was married to a man whom I met young, and we never did a lot in the form of romance, so I am not used to this. I am uncomfortably anxious almost, convincing myself not to cancel. I think I am attracted to him, and maybe this will be fun - or am I just destroying my nervous system to try something new?

0steophila is macabre, not evil. Keep bone collecting ethical.

I hate to be a real fun-time-ruiner here, but
In light of a trending “vulture culture,” the processing procedure has certainly become more widely discussed. And while there have been some tried-and-true methods provided, I really feel that there needs to be a reminder that bone hunting should be done responsibly.

There is so much life left in what remains after death. If the skeletal framework is intact, those bones have yet to be picked over. In fact, a bone has the potential to go through an entire life cycle of its own while providing critical nutrients to an entire ecosystem, a reason to take sparingly as is. If you have no intention to harvest the bone then do not remove that which still has the hide, tendons, or marrow. Collect sun bleached pieces with gratitude and make use of what nature has already provided you and for all that you take, provide something back.

It is wise to also know that collecting on most public land requires a salvage permit. Now, in most cases, I am likely one to agree on that being silly for a bone or two. However, I strongly encourage being up-to-date on information provided by Parks and Wildlife when it comes to ecological balance.

Waste not, want not.
