In Tocantins his most impressive slay was Brendan. But let’s be real, while Brendan was a likable guy, he was basically on the outs from the start.

In SoPa I guess you would say Ozzy was someone coach kinda slayed? Although it was Sophie who won the critical challenge to beat Ozzy. But coach I guess could take some credit for slaying him.
In 50 I would say coach definitively slayed Dee. He led the vote to take her out and basically strong armed the rest of the cast to follow his lead. He spearheaded taking out one of the best survivor players all time. Dee was the one true dragon he slayed imo.
Opie essentially exits the show at the start of season 5, right as Nero is getting introduced. I view the end of S4 and start of S5 as basically the halfway point of the show. Which half do you prefer?
I understand that Hine probably had to make assurance to Edwards and his friends / family that Anthony would be portrayed in a very positive light, but the book lacks journalistic integrity the way it portrays Edwards. You’d think he was Jesus Christ crossed with Michael Jordan the way Hine discusses him on and off the court. For context, I am a fan of Edwards on the court, but find him a person to be of very question moral character. Between fathering several children he’s indicated he wants nothing to do with, homophobic remarks, and general immaturity.
I don’t really know who this book is for. If you’re an avid NBA fan you pretty much know everything in the book already. If you’re a casual fan you probably don’t care enough about Edwards to read the book. Ultimately this is a puff piece book that works hard to build up a man of mediocre character. Examples of his poor character being hand waved or explained away:
- it’s okay he was a terrible student because he was charming, he barely graduated high school
- It’s okay that he prioritizes video games over his family because he had a tough childhood
- Calling Edwards mature and an old soul is a blatant lie
- Makes excuses for him being a homophobe and tries to bend it into him being a hero for the gay community
- Hand waves his several pregnancies of various women and irresponsibility as “growing up”
- Excuses his vulgar language in interviews as “he tells it like it is”

In both episodes, Bobby has something fun and new that he’s participating in. Hank is initially reluctant about it, and then even more so by the end of the episode. Bobby wonders if his dad supports him. The general public has the opposite opinion as Hank. Rather than a real lesson being taught at the end, the moral of the story just gets chalked up to “sometimes a dad just knows”.

This feels like a hard needle to thread, but recently I was trying to think of movies that are both enjoyable and straightforward enough that any given person could turn it on at any point throughout the playtime of the movie and basically have sense of what’s going on. I know this is a relatively niche prompt, but I’ve been pondering it and I’m curious if this sub’s thoughts. Note, not movies that you’ve seen before and can drop in and watch. Movies that you’ve never seen before.
