I am not naiive and I understand there is an Organization for Arab countries but this organization has never been effective. I am asking about why don’t some Arab countries start a serious process of unification using the European Union model. It doesn’t have to be full unification or common currency from day 1 but something like free trade for some number of years. Followed by free movement for another number of years. Followed by some kind of economic integration, unified currency, ……. Some serious process with a defined and public timeline that leads to creating a serious unified block in, say, 20-30 years. We as Arabs have way more in common and way less in animosity and disparity in economic powers than European countries but they managed to create a meaningful block. Why don’t we?
