Which workshops in Singapore should we avoid? 🚩

We always see people recommending good workshops, but I'm curious about the other side.

Have you ever had a really bad experience with a workshop in Singapore? Overcharging, unnecessary repairs, poor workmanship, damaged parts, bad service, or anything else?

Share the workshop and what happened. Would be useful to know which places to be careful with.

Mods, if this post breaks any subreddit rules or isn't appropriate, please feel free to remove it. Just looking to hear about people's personal experiences.

Instead of “what bike should I buy?” , what bikes should I AVOID?

I always see posts asking for bike recommendations, so I'm curious about the opposite.

What bike would you not recommend buying in Singapore, and why?

Could be because of reliability, expensive maintenance, parts availability, bad resale value, annoying issues, or just a terrible ownership experience.

Thinking of getting a BMW G 310 R next year – any owners here?

I'm currently not owning any bike, but I'm planning to take my 2A next year and am considering getting a BMW G310R after that.

Anyone here currently riding one? How's the reliability, maintenance cost, fuel consumption and overall experience in Singapore?

Would appreciate any advice or things I should know and if anyone has any opinions on it, thanks

Can you pass Class 2 if you only ride during school lessons?

For those who went from 2B → 2A → Class 2, did anyone here only ride bikes during riding school lessons and never actually ride outside after passing TP?

If so, was it still possible to pass the next licence levels with just the school lessons, or did you find the lack of riding experience made it much harder?

Curious to hear from anyone who has done this. Any tips?

Anyone in Singapore here who used to be a hikikomori and managed to turn things around?

Curious if anyone has personal experience with being a hikikomori/social recluse, or knows someone who basically stayed home, avoided people and disconnected from normal life for a long period.

If you managed to get out of that situation, what actually helped you turn things around? Was it getting a job, picking up a hobby, making friends, therapy, or just slowly forcing yourself back into society?

Would really appreciate hearing some genuine experiences, especially from people in Singapore.

Can you build an above average physique using just a typical condo gym in Singapore?

My condo gym is pretty basic mostly cable machines, kettlebell and free weights, nothing fancy like a proper commercial gym.

For those who train in a condo gym, do you think it's enough to build a noticeably fit/athletic physique, or will I eventually need to join a proper gym?

Would love to hear from anyone who's gotten good results with limited equipment. What exercises/programmes worked for you?

Anyone come back stronger after a 1–2 month gym break due to injury?

Had a bad fall where I flew off my bike and hurt my back, so I've been out of the gym for about 1 to 2 months already, sucks watching my strength and size disappear.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and managed to get all their gains back? how long did it take, and did muscle memory really make a big difference?

Would love to hear your experiences and any tips for making a solid comeback.

PMLA Rejected... Feeling really lost, need advice from those who got approved or rejected

Just found out our PMLA was rejected and I'm honestly pretty upset.

I'm a Singaporean guy in my mid late 20s, and my wife is from Southeast Asia in her early 20s. She used to be an S Pass holder before, so we genuinely thought we have a decent chance.

From what I've read, if your PMLA is rejected, there's usually little point in applying for an LTVP straight away, which makes our future plans really difficult.

I'm confused about what ICA actually looks for. Has anyone here been rejected first but later got approved? What changed? I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences or any advice.

How many circuit/road revision lessons did you take before passing your 2B TP?

I'm still going through my 2B lessons and I'm wondering how many circuit and road revision sessions most people actually took before feeling ready for TP.

For those who passed, what were the biggest things that helped you? Any common mistakes or pointers I should look out for during revision?

Would love to hear what worked for you so I can plan my revisions properly.

Whats the most toxic hobby or community you've ever joined in Singapore?

Curious because every hobby seems great from the outside, but once youre in it you start hear about the drama, gatekeeping, cliques, ego, scams or endless politics.

What's the most toxic hobby, sport, or interest group you've personally been part of in Singapore and what made it so bad?

No judgment just interested in hearing the stories.

Need some NS/ICT advice. How screwed am I?

I ORD about 4 years ago. During NS I changed vocation midway throughns and by the time I ORD I was without a vocation.

Since ORD, I've never been called back for ICT or received any notification. I recently moved house and realised I've lost pretty much all my NS issued items uniforms, field pack and all, plus my e mart I'm unable to access.

If I suddenly get called up now, how much trouble am I in? Is there a way to replace the missing items before getting called up or should I just wait until I receive an ICT notice then inform them?

Would appreciate any advice from anyone who's been in a similar situation. Thanks guys!!

How do you ease back into training after getting hurt?

Flew off my bike a couple of weeks ago and hurt my back, so I haven't been to the gym since, Feeling a bit unsure about how to start training again without overdoing it.

What's the best way to ease back into the gym after a break like this? Has anyone else had a few weeks off due to an injury and successfully got back into their routine? Any advice would be appreciated.

What’s it like working as an Interior Designer in Singapore?

Been considering the interior design line recently and wanted to hear from people actually working in the industry in Singapore.

What’s the day to day like as an ID here? How are the working hours, stress levels, clients, pay progression and overall work life balance?

Also wondering if it’s more sales heavy than design heavy nowadays, and whether it’s still worth entering the industry in 2026.

Would appreciate honest experiences from people currently working as IDs or who left the industry before.

Where do Singaporean guys buy business casual /work clothes besides Uniqlo?

Recently I’ve been trying to upgrade the way I dress for work and business casual settings instead of just defaulting to Uniqlo for everything, their stuff is solid but I feel like my whole wardrobe becoming copy paste already

I’m trying to find other brands or shops that sell nice polos, trousers, chinos, office shirts without looking too uncle or overly formal, more of the clean smart casual kind of style.

Curious where you guys usually shop for this kind of clothing in Singapore? Can be affordable brands or slightly more premium also if the quality is worth it
