Underserved areas in SG without a 24hour gym ( District 15)

Tanjong Rhu MRT area is close to Stadium which has many sports related facilities, but no 24 hours gym nearby.

Does anyone have a good suggestion of a 24 hours gym that is within 500m of Tanjong Rhu? I work irregular hours.

Dropping weights in HDB

I live in hdb and have a basic full cage squat rack cause I didn’t intend to ego lift. But I’m entertaining thoughts of lifting to the extent where I really might start dropping weights (I’m just a beginner) and do overhead presses.

My mats are high density but very thin (think less than 1cm width). A few questions, in hdb tbh should we not be dropping heavy weights? The whole block hears it. I’m not sure how much it affects the integrity of the floor, which is also someone’s ceiling. Or is it ok with the right kind of mat?

I was thinking of adding a thicker rubber high density mat on top. I see gymzgarage has 2, 2.5, 5cm width. I’ve also seen one in decathlon. Any tips on what kind of mats work?

How is CCK Active Sg gym?

Hi, how crowded is this gym during weekdays and weekends? Is there a timeslot where you find the crowd lower?

It seems to be a relatively new gym, so I was hoping it might not be as super crowded as the one at Bukit Gombak with 5 people staring at you in the queue.

Wondering if there are hack squat machines too

Life over

I’m 33 and I honestly feel like I wasted the last 6 years of my life.

Been jobless for a long time, slowly became lazy, unmotivated, gained a lot of weight, stopped taking care of myself and now I barely recognize who I used to be. Financially I’m struggling too and it’s embarrassing even typing this out.

The worst part is I know I’m capable of more, but somewhere along the way I just lost momentum and kept postponing change.

Now I’m at a point where I genuinely want to turn my life around. Lose weight, work again, build discipline, maybe even become someone I can respect again. But honestly I feel overwhelmed because I don’t even know where to start after being stuck for so long.

If anyone here has been through something similar and managed to rebuild their life, I’d really appreciate any advice, tips or even hearing your story. I think right now I just need direction and honesty from people who understand what this feels like.

I’m tired of wasting time. I just want my life back.

What's your rep range for building muscle

I usually aim for around 8 reps when I only have strength to lift one extra rep left.

But I'm wondering if I should lower the weight and aim for 12 reps max instead.

Best online sources for supplements

Hi team, so I used to gym a bunch when I was younger and bought a bunch of supps for protein and recovery. The online shops I used to buy from have closed lol so I'm looking for new places to buy from. I am open to the usual platforms laz / shopee, any sellers or shops to recommend? I also shop on iherb but wasn't sure if protein shipped fine.

Also if money no object, what's a good protein, pre workout, recovery aid, casein now? Looking for easy to mix and taste good, now that I'm older don't need to look to maximize servings. THANK YOU

new multi chicken breast meal prep

Hi guys, wanted to ask whether u guys would typically cook your chicken breast (the frozen kinds that come from new multi, CP) before bringing it to office for lunch?

I usually airfry it if I wfh.

But since I’ve to wfo now, was wondering if I should air fry it before bringing it to work for lunch, and heat it up in the microwave?

Or is it okay to just bring it to work in its frozen state, and then microwave it for lunch

There’s no airfryer in my office pantry, just a toaster oven and a microwave.

Tummy =(

How does one get rid of the little pot belly above a c-section? I had the c-section well over a decade ago and not have a little pot belly above it hahaa
I run (a lot), I go gym and do free weights (deadlifts, bench press, shoulder press etc), I do a lot of push ups and pulls up after a run so I would say strength wise I’m pretty okay.
I don’t over eat, tend to snack on fruits and occasionally sweets and chocolate.
I’ve tried lower calorie intake but I can’t sustain my runs if I don’t eat a decent lunch. I tend to skip dinners if I do run.
Just a little stuck on how to lose the mummy tummy haha

Thoughts on Artificial Sweeteners

For context I'm someone who has always loved sweet drinks but recently decided that I wanted to lower my body fat %. I've been somewhat successful and one way which helped was by switching from drinking normal sugary drinks like Luckin / Starbucks to drinks like Coke Zero / White Monster / 100 Plus Zero.

For what it's worth, I actually think that artificial sugars are absolutely goated. Just the fact that I get to enjoy sweet drinks for 0 kcals feels massive. Of course, I've tried my best to do as much research as I can regarding the negative effects of artificial sweeteners like Aspartame and Sucralose but I can't seem to find much concrete negative effects. Still, it feels too good to be true.

So what are everyone's thoughts on drinking artificial sweeteners? Do yall think its under-researched and potentially possess some kind of negative effects we just don't know yet? Or is it actually as safe as it claims to be?

Fitness friendly but nice (and budget friendly) local food?

I’m starting to get bored of my routine meals and paiseh if this has been discussed before.

Basically what are some macro friendly food that are still easily available (and nice, and cheap) in Singapore (ideally hawker or at most $20-30/meal kinda restaurants). Not talking about cooking your own chicken breast or salmon fillet etc..

Here are some food that i rotate almost daily
- yong tau foo soup but mostly veggies and 2-3 eggs, less rice
- chicken porridge with eggs
- sliced fish soup with eggs
- chicken rice with eggs
- fried saba with rice
- astons double up chicken with garden veggie, skip the skin & reduce sauce
- 蚝蛋
- chicken pho with eggs

(Ya i always add eggs to help with the macro..)

Also happy to discuss if any of my regulars are actually not very optimal haha
