Before you buy those fireworks:

These are my wife's photographs of the 2016 Table Rock fire in Boise. This fire was caused by ONE single person being irresponsible with fireworks-- and that summer was less windy and less dry in Boise than this one is here.

This fire was able to be contained with minimal loss of property and no loss of life but... do we really want to risk something like this in a drier, windier, flatter, and more densely populated area than that? And especially just a few years after the Marshall fire?

Just some food for thought. Freedom also includes the freedom to not have your house burnt down by someone else's questionable at best decisions.

Edited because autocorrect got me

Fireworks

Love hearing fireworks when the state is in a stage 3 drought and most of it’s on fire and we just had three tragic deaths of wildland firefighters. If you want to respect and honor our country, don’t be a fucking idiot and set off explosives. Genuinely sickens me. End rant.

What to put in this bowl?

I got this bowl for my entry way table yesterday. The problem is I dont know what to put in it. I have hooks for my keys already, so thats out, and a catch-all drawer in the table for sunglasses, headphones, things like that, so thats out too. I thought about some decorative lemons, but thought it would be redundant since the bowl has ceramic lemons on it, and I wasn't a huge fan of it in the first place. Any ideas for what I can put in it? It doesn't need to something functional, the purpose of it is to look decorative. Maybe a favor of some kind for guests? Let me know your ideas. Thanks! :)

North American cyclists are too emancipated

Europeans… keep scrolling

Do not ride your bicycle on the highway. Do not weave in to traffic randomly just because you think there’s a stand still. Keep in “your” “own” “lane”. I cannot tell you the amount of times I’ve been driving in the congested downtown of the city and cyclists think they are absolutely untouchable.

“He’ll stop”

“She wouldn’t dare”

“They see me coming”

“We’re allowed to use the road”

“Fuck people in cars. I’m a cyclist. Here me roar”

However we are at an impasse. The law does indeed allow cyclists to occupy the same road as cars. Legally you’re allowed to. That doesn’t mean the road is automatically safe for you. You are commuting alongside heavy machinery which at its minimum speed almost goes faster than you can at your maximum speed. It’s congested, roads are tight and narrow, signage is overwhelming… add darkness to the equation and you got a recipe for disaster.

And I’m so careful. That’s part of the reason why it’s so annoying when a cyclist thinks they can just veer towards my lane or turn very quickly. And while this probably isn’t true, I swear they drive as close as they can to cars just to ragebait.

“Yeah you probably wanna hit me mf. Just try it I’ll sue the fuck out of your ass. Stupid car piece of shit. Fucking old method of transportation.”

North American cyclists need to calm down. Our roads aren’t designed for you, you forcing us to behave like we’re in the Netherlands where cycling is well integrated actually doesn’t do anything but jeopardize everyone’s safety. Get over yourself, bike in the park or on pedestrian streets, not on busy and congested roads where people are trying to turn onto the highway and you think “oh my god. An opening. I can weave through those 2 cars. 10 points!”
